Eaters on suits

I seem to be a bit confused but can someone explain how the damage eater works compared to resist eaters..in as simple terms as possible thank you in advance

Damage Eater is all damage types but it's capped at 18%.
Specific eaters (Kinetic, Fire, Cold, Poison, Energy) are all only for their corresponding damage types, but are capped at 30%.

heals you for a % damage taken based on damage type vs eater 3 seconds after being hit.

Right I got that portion but I was under the persuasion that if fire/cold/energy/poison were under what you had for damage they won't proc at all..is that correct?

It takes the higher number damage or specific so yes the specific ones won't proc if they are lower than the damage one. It is so easy to get 12s and 15s that 2 pieces put you at max anyways.
