When and WHY was there a revert on LS?!!!!

Thankyou very much for cleaning out my stables. Thankyou sooooooo much for deleting pets I`ve had for years,the kind I will not easily replace due to great stats and resists.


Soooooo very nice to finally be able to log into the game,cause I couldn`t play at all yesterday and instantly am greeted with greyscale and death in a place I know I didn`t log out in. Than realize my pets ghost isn`t even there, so I than check my pet slot count and its 0/5. So now 2 accounts got royally screwed,one doesn`t even have a pet left in the stable. Hey i can always Mindblast Mel down,that`ll be fun!

So thankyou,thankyou from the bottom of my GD freekin heart for the loss of time I got boned out of,lots of missing items and 2 missing pets that will be very very hard to replace. AWESOME!

Was it in a dungeon?
I had this on Siege a few years back - died after logging off and my Cu was nowhere - not in count, not in view. Some hours later I was stealthing through the very same dungeon and what was there in a corner? My Cu Sidhe.
So not always all hope is lost immediately.
If you can tell where it was lost and what was its name, maybe somebody has seen it.

Pets have been found, quite a while after they were lost, go back to where you woke up and do a circle outwards, paying particular attention to anything that would block movement of a pet travelling in a straight line.

Thanks for advice to search,never thought to do that. Sadly after a lap around the bloods,winds and chaos`s...... they are no where to be found. I just logged in today on the Wind Elemental side of the bridge gettin hammered upon login with no pet. No way would I or did I ever log out in that spot,not to mention my own rule about not logging out in a dungeon in the first place. I was just very surprised that I didn`t read about an LS revert or anything to this effect. I didn`t get a chance to play yesterday but I was all over the forums. Just super frustrated this kind of stuff happens.

So I`ll just accept my dbl screwing and move on.

Same here... I was on and off LS all day, and never saw any evidence of a revert...

What kinds of pets were lost ?

2 Greater Dragons. One will be pretty hard to replace,took me at least a month to finally find one so good,that was years ago. The other was an average one and although sux to lose,can be replaced with better. On the lore scale associated with Pinco`s my old one was a 4.0 (the one I lost) ,the other was just a 3.2. Already tamed a 3.7,but have no illusions of finding another 4.0 anytime soon.

If you are certain that you were NOT in that place, then perhaps your account has been compromised?

If it is a planned shutdown (such as daily maintenance), you get several messages that the server is going down. But a word of caution, the message may not exactly sync to when the data is being saved. If you do anything after the data has been saved, those actions will not be saved and thus "don't count". When you next log in, it may seem to you that there was playtime erased/lost.

This delay between data save and actual shard turn-off allowed for some very fun, shardwide PVP free-for-alls in the early days of UO (there were long delays).

I can understand from where you are coming from, having lost a whole account my self, ( some JA deleting it) but anyway, I play LS as my main shard, and when they took it down I did not see any revert of any kind. I am going with startle on this one, are you SURE you are the ONLY person that can get on your account or where you playing in the time that barry is talking about??

Yep positive I wasn`t hacked or anything. Actually I was running two accounts,my disco tamer and my stealth tamer. Use my stealth tamer to lure wind`s up and than with disco/2 drags its ez farming. But like I say,when I logged in both were in the same spot on that bridge. The spot there were at way earlier in that day. I had an Andros run under my belt after I hit Shame,so theres at least a half hour I lost. I have no Andros loot on me (Sandals) and I am logged back in,where I WAS farming earlier before I hit Andros.

For me at least,be it so small.... it was a revert. Enough for my pets to go wild or just poof or whatever. The fact that I know I had an Andros run under my belt only to log in a day and a half later to no Andros loot and back in Shame(on 2 diff accounts and they both in exact same location). Something is not right.

I don`t expect an answer.It started out of frustration and saw a couple people talkin bout it in general chat. Thought more might have been affected but apparently not. I don`t really care,Its just pixels and more wasted time. For me,I know where I always log out,I know where I was and what I had on me and I also know where I logged back in,call it Dejavu but I know I`ve been to that spot already.

I think it had to do with LS`s extended maintenance.

There was that bugfix publish recently, but the most important bugs, about which players care (like in your case, there is no pet autocollect to stables after serverup, if the server went down while the pet is outside) have not been touched.

Well I have no explaination, but as far as I know - I've not heard of a revert that would "claim" old pets like yours... I mean, a revert means that whatever happened during that timeframe just "didn't happen"... But it's only for that timeframe.
You've had your pets for a long time... There is no reason for any revert to touch them...
And you'd really have to be very unlucky for a "bug" to "poof" your pets and nobody elses pets.
Sorry, but the most logical explaination - given the facts presented - points to a compromised account... Since you can still access it, I would seriously consider changing the password.

2 accounts? Just by chance got compromised at the very same time and 2 pets released and than they parked me down to bloods so I could get log-in-kilt(cuz that`d be funny) and nothing else wrong?
I`m sure they were fed recently,at least sometime that day.

O yes,I also have a guildy,a RL friend who also lost a G Dragon the same way on the same day. Logged in in a diff spot and his Drag went wild he said.

With most bonded pets, a tiny bounce like that isn't much of issue in a dungeon. The revert happens, the pets wander off, die (either quickly, or the death of a thousand papercuts from slowly having their damage overwhelm their regeneration/healing/casting) , and because they are ghosts, don't lose loyalty anywhere near as fast as living pets. Most lost pets tend to be pack animals with something in them. It's when it happens OUTSIDE dungeons that it's usually an issue for combat pets.

However, GDs (and to a lesser extent, Cu Sidhe) have a tendency to stay alive even in dungeons after an unplanned server drop that doesn't auto-log them until they can go wild, especially if you had them in an area that is low-spawn (i.e. your Shame trip where you parked both pets away from the spawn point, then brought the spawn to them one at a time). This particular method left you more vulnerable to pet loss, than if you'd been fighting at the spawn point.

It sucks, but it's one of those rare hazards that Tamers learn about (usually the hard way), that can be a pancake to avoid.

Still, don't give up hope - there's still an off chance the ghost are out there. A long time ago, there was a demonic invasion of Trinsic's Paladin Island on my shard. I died, my giant beetle died, then I got telestormed away. When it was over, my slots were empty, and I couldn't find it. So, I got another beetle, bonded it, gave it the same name, and carried on. SIX MONTHS LATER... My guildmate asks me why I left my beetle dead in Cove (one of the several towns I was telestormed to). I tell him I'm on my beetle, and he insists I come look. I go there, and sure enough, HALF-WAY UP THE MOUNTAIN, sits the ghost of my first beetle, where nothing could get to without a bad server-driven relocation. I command it to follow, and boom, I'm at 6/5 control slots, and had to go stable the second beetle to get the first one to do anything. I got a friend to vet it, and once alive, I transferred it to a different character, and I still have it to this day.

However, that was when pets didn't lose loyalty at all while ghosts. If your pets are still around as ghosts, just bugged to not show in your follower slots, you probably have at most till the end of the weekend to find them, if they managed to wander off and die before going wild. It's a slim hope, but I've seen stranger things.

Yea judging from what my friend told me bout his going wild due to whatever happened as well,I`m sure thats what happened to mine too. I`m just chalkin it up as my turn in the barrel and movin on. Was super pissed when it first happened but this is UO. Stuff like this happens so ya take the good with the bad.

No,no I didn`t.

Still using the same user/pw since I know I wasn`t. It makes no sense that I`d get hacked on 2 diff accounts with 2 different user/pw`s.

I got a 15`ish minute revert or somethin like it. Things that should have been in my pack,that now aren`t. A place I was at BEFORE I logged out....on 2 accounts..... Log back in with said items missing,only items that came from Andros are gone...... and am in a place I was at BEFORE I hit Andros. I dont care if it makes any sense to anyone. I know my char went back in time at least 15 minute.......... Both my accounts did and so did a guild mates along with a few people I saw complaining about similar problems in gen chat the day this happened to me.

There was a notice of some East Coast server work a week or so ago. That's probably what happened.
