A cool idea that will probably never happen

So I was thinking about the Hunger Games. Get a bunch of pvp-types together at dungeon wrong. They show up naked with empty packs. Everyone stands along the edge of the mountain in the little valley. In the center there is a ton of random gear strewn about all over the ground. Swords. spellbooks, bags of regs and bags of pots, armor, etc.. In the center are backpacks labeled SWORD, FENCE, MAGE, NECRO, MYSTIC, THROWER, etc.. these pack have complete weapon/reagent and armor set-ups for those classes. When the signal is given, everyone runs to equip what they can and start killing each other. Last man standing wins.

I know it won't ever happen. Just sayin' it would be cool if a shard could actually pull it off without someone ruining it.

That would, of course, depend on what all you are able to "pick up" during all of this - and IF you are able to kill the "last man standing" (who will no doubt be pretty tough) with what you have... Now wouldn't it?

You can of course do exactly what you propose. The test center may make the most sense since everyone would need to be able to switch to the particular weapon skill. But that shouldn't stop you from doing this on a production shard since if someone gets a bag that doesn't have their weapon skill items then tough luck.

In the beginnings of Ultima one of the great things where the D&D dungeon masters (real players) actually created events and scenarios. There is nothing stopping you from doing exactly what you propose. Become a dungeon master and create the world and game you desire. UO is here for you to create your world.

Oasis Fight Pits on Sonoma use to do stuff kinda like that.
they had all kinda fights, but i do recall one very similar to what you are saying.
they would drop random weapons around on the ground and they the people would hit the tele pad and enter the pit and it was on, your tried to grab what you needed for your template and survive.
and it was controlled cause it was down in fight pits.
so people could stand around and watch but not interfere.

but those are old Seer pits.
but EA does own them again.

when Xinith gave the Oasis castle to a PAS.
so much could have been done had that gone to a red guild.
hell i would have even backed that going to a COP member!

Years back when I hosted weekly fight nights for our alliance we had events like this. Of course we used the house arena instead of a dungeon to keep the riffraff away, but it was a lot of fun.
