Town banners / InsideUO

Am I right in thinking that InsideUO no longer works after the artwork file changes a while back?

If so, what methods have people used for designing town banners recently?

I have friends with two different potential towns and neither can get InsideUO working well enough to do a banner. I hope you get an answer as I know others want to know as well.

Inside UO can work, if you can locate copies of the older files. I had a backup of the game on a D drive, so I was able to point inside uo to that, but it wasn't very upto date, so it doesn't have everything it should have

*face palms* Just last week I finally put three of my old hard drives to the hammer after being quite sure there was nothing on them I would need again.

Well I've asked this question a 100 times now ..... and gotten no where. My only suggestion would be to build whatever you want on a plot on TC and then try to get what you want across from there but it's REALLY not very useful without Inside UO. Without that you have no way of knowing the #'s of the tiles you are using.

What about a fresh install of UO from the Samurai Empire CD without letting it fully patch up? hmmm... I am going to have to test a few things.

Sadly that won't include the new pretty Gothic stuff or the Gargoyle tile sets either.

Yeah it would.. the art format change came after SA. You'd have to find out the exact patch the change happened (I can't remember when) and stop it at that specific one.

I just had a look at UO Reader, Theres a thread about it in the EC Forum on Stratics. It seems to read the very latest artwork (2d and EC) but you need EC installed I think?

I've tried it a few times and finding what you are looking for is nearly impossible and the few times I've attempted to run it I've found it very buggy. You could spend WEEKS searching for the tiles you want.

Aye it only shows one at a time, but if I leave my finger on the down key they fly through pretty fast.

I've put together a working insideUO from October 2009.

The stygian abyss stuff is in the Character Test tab of the art for some reason, but it is visible.

In inside uo - top left 'view' then select 'file paths' from the menu

this is what happens for me, and the results of me looking as far as I know how to regarding file paths.... I can never find anything with the extension that the InsideUO program asks for

Use the zip Shakkara has linked to, and point the file paths to the files provided in it.

Rrr it works for me with these settings.

And one for tiledata, just look what files are provided in the rar and enter them.

You may get path errors every time you start it, but just ignore that!

kay, I'm trying, but now it says that Windows cannot open that file.... isn't there an unzipping thing in Windows system or do I need to go download sumpin? thanks for this help, everyone, I'm just so clueless about this stuff

You do need to extract all those files to somewhere... and then change the files she shows exactly like you see them there. by clicking on the view and file paths.... to bring that box up. Just leave all the rest of the stuff in there the way it is but change those ones she shows to what she has.

Just make sure you make a backup of this stuff, I'll keep the files on my server for a while but they won't be around forever.

Hi Shakkara! Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I'm trying to use InsideUO and I've downloaded your zip - but there aren't any artwork files in it, just the program itself, the text document with Alazane's contact details and the .xml. Did you delete the files? Is there anywhere else I can get them from?

EDIT: NEVER MIND I'M AN IDIOT LOL. I had your version mixed up with a previous download. Also I'm running around my apartment with my underpants on my head but that's beside the point

I moved to another webhost and thought it would be nice to not take any files with me and start from scratch. I reuploaded the stuff from a backup, try again.
