So we are getting a minor revert every time Atl is crashing - the same thing that happened the last time Billions of gold was made, please please please tell me someone is monitoring and MANY houses are going to be burned. If its a Mechanical issue tell us dammit so we can stop working in vane for a while.
I'm hedging my bet that you will see some houses in osi mode quite soon. I can tolerate the shard reverts if it means these people are exposed and their accounts destroyed. Hopefully they can link back from their exploit accounts to their main and evaporate them also.
That or there are major issues that you just can't expect to find on test, but are found quite fast on Atlantic due to the larger population here.

If the rumors are true, and there is a dupe, they need to revert the shards AND ban the culprits by IP address (not just ban their dummy accounts). I'm sick of the people that are ruining this game. And yes I realize some ppl could have done the dupe by accident, but I'm also sure it will be real easy to tell the ones that did, and the ones that kept duping.
What about the people who

I wonder if the Devs. have considered camping the specific server line (crashes occur) to put an end to this and those responsible for bringing the shard down.

so here's my confusion for the day (yes, I have different ones each day, many days multiple confusions)
if this is due to some duping exploiting nonsense it happened almost immediately after the publish hit... in order for that, and I'm guessin' here, then the exploit would have had to have been discovered on test or Origin... if they can recognize it so quickly after it hits publish why on earth is it not caught in one of the other two places? seems to me that the abusers were not handed over by an honest citizen but by discovery in the offices of the developers or am I completely off-base here?

the test shards are more used from people looking to benefit from exploits than actual bug testing. I am not sure why the bug testing is not internal... Here we go again...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
That is not always the case, or at least it certainly is not true of all players. However, I am sure that there is another element of player in this game, and they generally flourish in dark places where few ever visit or no one is paying attention.
Because the team doesn't play the game and if they do it's behind closed doors with no interaction with us.
I just want o kill people on ATL... which is ALWAYS down now... Wish I would have used my last xfer token to go to LS... Guess people don't crash that shard every 5 minutes to dupe. **** you dupers. Hope you all get banned, and they take the items back.
how many server lines exist in uo? could the player base form a posse and find said perpetrators or is this something that can be done outside of being visually detected.

that's what I mean, Viq... even if nobody is payin' attention ingame, shouldn't there be something in place that recognizes this crap automatically? I probably just don't have the right mind set, but if I were doing something ingame that would result in me becoming the most fantastically wealthy player to ever exist in UO there's a really good chance that I would not be telling anyone about it... even on Atlantic there has to be spots where I could carry out these evil schemes in solitude, especially if one of the main objectives is to not get caught! course, there's always the possibility that these cheaters simply can't keep their mouths shut and that was their downfall
i respectfully ask that this thread remain open. please dont discuss how you think it is being accomplished. we are posting here because we care about this game and hope that this thread gets noticed by the management so that corrective action can be taken.

On the other hand, maybe there is a reason Atl's down other than someone duping, or at least let's hope so.
I know you were around when they were talking of implementing punkbuster and what all kinds of baaaaad feelings that generated. Everyone professes to be completely honest right up until it can be proved otherwise. :/
Besides that there is Cal and his list, with which nothing ever really happened to the best of my knowledge. Nothing is worse than proving to the people who rely on you that they can not count of your words for any real meaning.
I would test, I have tested. I don't need a rare, or a friend on the Dev team. I don't even need anyone telling me I am doing a great job. But, I will not work only to be ignored completely. That is out.
Please stop trying to spread this rumor, it's well-known fact that most of the devs play the game on prodo shards on normal characters. Your assumptions being stated as fact only discredit any other opinions you have, most of which I've read are equally ridiculous.

I'm sorry I don't actually have every dev's play schedule written down and kept in my back pocket. There are interviews, posts, etc that illustrate my point. Go find them.
Even if they didn't play the game like we do, I'm betting someone who regularly works on the code of the game from the formulas and game mechanics end is going to know quite a bit more about it than any of the player "experts" that think they know everything about the game and find it necessary to constantly remind us. How often have I heard "oh it's just simple coding to fix this" from a random idiot who has no real idea what he's talking about?
Someones illustration of competence falls short in the real world application. There are large differences between engineers in the drafting room and contractors and service techs that actually make the stuff dreamed up in far away places work on a daily basis.

On a related note- After the last 2 crashes, I logged in to see if I had lost anything I noticed the same character in Gen chat spamming that he was buying a Transfer token. That is to say, one of the crashes yesterday and one of the crashes today. I thought it was a little odd.

Not that im speculating into the paranoia of dupers.. but... I just happened to buy some very inexpensive xfer tokens (x10) off a vendor on atl about 30mins ago. Like 1/4-1/3rd the price of what they have normally been selling for. I just consider myself lucky for getting a decent deal, thats all.
Since the crashes started to happen after ATL was down for hardware upgrade, couldn't also faulty hardware be a reason?
(Although somebody on another shard recently wondered to see more than one known name from earlier dupers ingame, so there might be something more behind.)
Anyone knows, if the debris on banned dupers plots does disappears? Or must this be requested and done manually?

Welp...hope it catches the owner of that vendor with the zillion skull mugs and 115, 120 fishing scrolls. Dood has sold over 15 to date in less than 2 months. Not a giant dupe but hey that's 15 mil for this, 20 mil for that...constantly.
This is gonna affect all shards, on Europa people are allready buying the stupidly high end items.
Meaning that either nobody is saving for a castle anymore or theirs suddenly been an influx of gold to Europa that they want to get rid of quickly.

Turn off character transfer, bet the shard crashes less frequently.
