Thanks
we went to go yesterday and what a disaster, had a few newbies along ( recently returned players), had a group of 7 in total. Tried to be really careful, gave them each a dagger, rite and robe, told them to equip robe and dagger, managed to get them all to a shrine, once all got there we placed the alter, and told each member to target the alter with their rite, and then their dagger, which sounds easy when you type it but good grief, the amount of questions etc for the whole process. Then had a last minute request from another skilled player to join so figured fine, had 4 minutes on the alter, so just needed to grab another set of keys, recalled, got them came back, passed em over and he did the ritual.
OK good to go at 2 mins left, so we thought, first press on 'begin ritual' and it says 'some of your party not close enough' even though we were all within 10 tiles of the shrine (Sacrifice) so we all do a shuffle and 'begin ritual' again, now still same message, seems you all have to be on the 'tiles' and if one person is on the grass at the edge then it won't go, down to 1 minute now on the alter, press 'begin ritual' again, says Member Mr Smith of your party has not completed the ritual properly, he said he did, then it said I had not completed the ritual properly even though my rite and dagger had both been consumed on the alter and then the alter disappeared.
Having spent well over an hour just getting a party together (started calling in chat at 2pm for a 4pm start on our small shard), and hours and hours of collecting the keys, the whole thing went poof, and we were all stood their with our robes, and all our daggers and all our summoning rites used up. (I had had to trade daggers for rites to start earlier in the day as didn't manage to loot a single rite, in the 40 keys i had got from boxes.) Anyways total total disappointment and a whole lot of swearing ensued as you can well imagine. By this time is was 5pm, we had spent close to an hour just getting the party to this point. What a waste of effort.
Anyways I still had 4 daggers and 13 alters left, we all still had our robes, someone else said they had another 4 daggers so basically all we needed was 8 summon rites to have another crack at it. Problem is of course 8 rites require a minimum of 40 taint. Just flipping great. Anyways someone graciously volunteered the taint (probably worth about 2.4 million or more in todays market) and we all recalled to my joint while I got my inscriber in game to make em.
So off we go with inscribe, with no tallisman you only have a 50% chance to craft, with the best tally I had took it to 76%, still pretty bad, and of course it burns through a lot more summon deamon scrolls and even on two failures taint. so again, more taint needed. Getting pretty pissed by this time.
Anyways, we get the rites, we all head back to shrine, someone has to go, but another person wants to join, we do the whole process again, get to the ' begin ritual' at 4 mins left by the time they all done the targetting etc, I ask if all good, and of course hear lots of yes's (should have counted them), and what do you know, someone not done it properly, the person is with us but not answering, so figured perhaps disconnected, wait for a minute and it shows xyz rejoining the party, so we all yell quick do the ritual we only got 3 mins left, get no response, call their name, no response, seems disconnected again, in the end I said soon as it goes to 2 mins gonna have to kick them out of party if they not back, which is what happened. Couldn't risk giving them til the last minute in case anything else was wrong.
Anyways we get in, by now it is well after 5.30pm.
Two members of the party ran off to 'get' exodus, one to honor and one to lure it where the rest of us waited for it. After two minutes of looking they come back and say 'it isn't here'.
What do you mean 'it isn't there' we all yelled, they said they ran all around and exodus is not anywhere. So we kinda all stood there and then figured go and have another look. Must of been there at least 4 minutes by then and we all fanned out looking for it. We found it only 'just' beginning to spawn towards the centre. Lucky we waited.
Anyways we ended up killing it by around 6.15 or so, and for all that effort ONE person got a +stat scroll, the rest got zip including myself.
The fight was fun, all the bs leading up to was NOT.
Sure once all people know how to 'enter' the ritual etc and get familiar with it there probably won't be as many questions etc, but the time involved in collecting of keys for every single member is enormous, I was lucky after two days of asking in chat I finally found someone who had 'rites' before 70% of my other stuff 'timed out' this is in the first week of the thing, I suspect in 3-4 weeks on a small shard like mine asking for trades will basically be non productive and virtually impossible once the shine wears off, pretty much like the void pool and despise are hopeless on my shard now, can't get enough ppl.
The cost of all the 'ingredients' for crafting of them is not worth it if you need more than one or maybe two. So all in all I think something needs to be done, like ONE set of keys as per every other peerless just to make it possible for smaller player shards to actually get into the fight.
It is much easier if one person needs a set of keys, as it is basically ok 'who wants to do exodus, i have keys' and you get a group in chat and go. This bs of I want to do exodus, have 17 daggers, 8 robes, 15 alters, and 0 summoning rites and my first lot of keys have 21 hrs left and they scale up from there. Two days of continually asking in chat resulted in someone with rites to swap, then another few hours to get a party. Too much effort
Not all shards are 'Atlantic' which seems to be what everything is geared to. Atlantic is the minority shard in that it is the ONLY shard with large amounts of players. There are a couple of medium shards but the majority are small. You can swing a cat in despise, the void pool is totally void of players, and I expect now due to the rigmarole of the keys for this the exodus boss will be pretty much avoided sooner than later unless the drop rate on keys is massively increased or it goes to only requiring the one set per party.
