So I started this game back when it launched, within the first few months of it.. I did about 5 years straight, then played on and off ever since.
Tonight was a night where I achieved two things.. These are things that lots and lots have done, many times over. But these are also things I never thought I would be able to accomplish.
I have never owned a Valorite runic, and had been saving and turning in Iron SBOD's for the chance for colored SBOD's for a long, long time. Tonight, I had finally realized I had all the makings to fill the BOD, but not the LBOD itself.. So on that end, I cheated a bit and bribed an Apagite LBOD up to Valorite.. But damned if I ever though I would ever even get to that point, because it took nearly every piece of gold I had..
.. And THAT changed when I turned in the BoD and they gave me 200K! Yikes! Never made so much money that fast. Then I actually found someone to buy an old Race Change token I had lying around.. AND someone bought some PoF's (I have about 40 or so of them and have never used them..) that I finally decided were just doing me no good sitting in my bank box...
And when I was done with everything? BAM.. My first million. And as part of my sales, I met one delightful returning player, and had delightful conversations in chat with 3 others from Catskills who were interesting and polite (And a few almost as old as me!). The hits just kept on comin'!
It's not about what goals you set, or how fast you reach them.. It's about how you go about achieving them, and the sense of accomplishment they provide for you and you alone.
The rest of the UO world can hum and haw, but damned if tonight wasn't a good night for me!
