There are many things that people who run bazaar vendors have become accustomed to. We are given a system with bugs galore but we work past it. Some complaints are from poor business men who don't understand how buying some at double market price and selling even higher made them lose their shirts. But many of the complaints and bugs of the system are very valid. Here are a couple suggestions that would make it better.
Losing bids cost too.
Their is a subclass of griefer in UO that go around and bid on stalls simply to cost people money. They walk around and throw 50k to 500k bids on established vendors. They hope they don't win the bid because then it doesn't cost them any money but the established owner of the stall has to spend that amount week after week to defend his stall. Perhaps if a percentage of the stall bid is lost on a losing bid, that would discourage such griefers.
ReClaiming and ReStocking from a lost stall bid.
Ok, you have an established vendor and someone outbids you for your stall. They win you lose. That system is fine except, now I have to reclaim everything I stocked on that vendor (except for the outfit I put on the vendor which is unreclaimable) I have to go win a new stall, restock everything and hope I documented by buy and sell prices and spend the time repricing everything. Perhaps if you win a stall within the week of losing, your vendor is restored much like it is if you win a bid on another stall while your vendor is up. This allows those who don't want to watch their vendor stall every moment of the last hours of their stall lease to get back up and running quickly if someone last minute snipes your stall.
I could go on and on about the other bugs (items not able to be put on, proprietor names not showing when you move stalls etc etc) but these are two of the major things I have seen that can discourage people beyond ever using the system again. I had a tram side magincia vendors who just held scrolls. I kept pricing low and kept stock nice and was trying to run it as a public service to allow someone who needed a few scrolls to fill their spellbooks a place to go. For a month or so it was up and breaking even. It had just enough sales to pay the vendor fee and to offset small bids on the stall. Then someone bid me out (and to do so they had to go above the 750k match bid I had) and I never did set that vendor up again. Would take too long to price out all 64 mage scrolls plus the necro scrolls plus the mystic scrolls etc etc. The devs should remember that the people who set ub bazaar vendors paid extra for the thrill of this grief.
