Something startle said this morning made me chuckle and got me thinking .....

..."Holy cr*p... I've seen that "new group" a jillion times and I made the incorrect assumption that it would only "add" a group... Never checked it out.... I will now, thx Viper and Picus.... "

I'm assuming he's been playing for yonks and has just found this information today! I've semi-permanently moved to Siege and was trying to remember what went into making Butcher's Warcleavers for farming leather since the ones on Siege have limited uses and would be quite expensive to keep using. By chance I read beyond the info I was looking for and found out that Skinning Knives do exactly the same thing (granted you have to have it equipped but still)! I had NO IDEA for all these years lol, have they always done this?? Was well chuffed with this 'new' information lol.

So come on, 'fess up! What have you found out recently that you could have done with knowing over a decade ago lol. Be nice to see what else I've been missing out on heh.

I actually knew that. Though it was something I read here I'd say 3 or 4 years ago.

I actually added the part about the skinning knife to the FAQs 4-5 years ago. Most people still didn't know it back then.

I discovered it before ML because my tailor collects his own leather (able to fight anything up to normal dragons), and pulled a Reptile Slayer skinning knife off a Dragon back in 2004, and thought it was a great RP weapon, and was even better when I discovered its secret property - that people often refused to believe me about when I told them!

Other special things:

Thorvald's Medallion from Abscess is a light source, great for hiding behind furnishings when you don't want to have "Obvious" lights like candles, lanterns, forges, etc.

The Harvester Blade from previous years' giant turkey events (gotten by giving the plucked turkey to a butcher) not only weighs less than a BWC, it a. collects all the resources, b. increases all the resources by 10% (not just leather), and c. stacks with the human bonus for leather AFTER that bonus is applied, so that a slith can give 13 leather to a human, instead of the expected 12, for example.

In the CC, There all the all-but-forgotten CTRL-B (Bow) and CTRL-S (Salute) Macros.

Similarly, many players that joined after AoS don't know how to emote or whisper. (if you don't, try out the various non-alphanumeric character keys. There's even a key for chatting with a GM to where others can't see it, but the GM has to start the chat)

There's, of course, the killer rabbit (but not sure it was something that respawned after launch - devs said they left one in), the mad cow, and cow tipping.

The Origami Fish

The tunnels under Buc's Den, so long forgotten (I really wish they'd make them easier to enter).

I still go in there occasionally just took someone in there last week, back when I still pvped we would have guild fights in there to train.

I was doing a tmap a while back and fell in by chance, also you can sometimes find monsters that have fallen from tmaps in there!

There are a few places in the game I'm glad are more "secret" I don't tell folk about some of them because I want them to be forgotten... I enjoy being all alone there.

Cow tipping was always fun you do know you can make a pig squeal too... I think you can make them sit as well. You can fill an empty pitcher from a cow.

You can spin the leather wolf hides into yarn and make a very pretty orangish cloth.

You can get and turn in your fishing quest from anywhere on the same "server" as the town you are trying to do. You do not need to sail all the way into the port. Thank gods because most the time you can't get anywhere near the port. So watch those server line maps.

I never knew about the mad cows until I was randomly attacked by one several years ago. Then I looked it up because I was a bit shocked.

A secret some may not know - there is a mushroom that grows in the middle of the marble wisp circle near Shame. It's edible and it respawns at server up. And it tastes delicious.

Reading about Bucs Den reminded me of the secret entrance into the house in the hedge maze. Any way we could pose the question to our Dev team as to whether or not that might get revisited? Such a cool spot, now limited in its function and functionality.

I don't know what I don't know....but I know that I don't know what I don't know....you know?
I know this much .. that I don't know. :coco::sad4: I find clothing here, there, everywhere in the house and some I can't tell if it is old or new. So I place a vendor and start checking using an old vendor pricing method from long ago .. and discover something I don't know .. after thinking I do know.

Old New-Player Clothing was the equivilant of being blessed itmes. They stayed with you even when you died. Weapons, Bard instruments, sextants, scissors, daggers, skinning knives *(talking about skinning knives I had forgotten they work same as the butcher's war cleaver, but you have to arm it and I thought there was another small step involved?)

Anyhow .. back on the topic of Old Newbie items .. if you place those on a vendor, and let the vendor price them, the vendor price is always "FREE" *(in case you don't know how to test to see if clothes, weapons, shoesk hats, gloves, capes and boots are very old blessed items or not).

.. but as I am checking the clothing and weapons coming out of my various very old chests holding collectibles, I discover my Vendor putting prices the very oldest of all items: a [practice weapon]. Weren't those [practice weapons] always priced "FREE" by vendors? I am sure they were. Or is this something I didn't know? I assumed they would be priced FREE since it is obvious from their name they are old "blessed" newbie items. Or is this a deliberate or accidental change? If it is a change, is it old or recent? I don't know. Do you know?

Now I suppose we need tests to find out if the [practice weapon] and newbie old clothes still have their BLESS status even if the vendor prices them "FREE".

Which brings us to more questions:
Do bags of 30 of each reagent and the 1000 gold still keep their blessed status which are given to new players? Players had fun teasing snooping thieves while carrying 1000 gold and 30/each reagent.

Knew goats ate bags full of pumpkins, didn't know about shoes. If it works on all types of footwear I will be bonding a goat to my fisher asap ;)

Thx

I had one on my fisher for some time, but then I trained up a second fisher. I tossed those shoes in the trash instead of a goat. Easy clean up Brit points. They add up faster than you think.

Newbie items can't be locked down in your house. So that's a way to test them.
