I would imagine two things. Either there is a champ spawn of sorts and he is stealing random items out of their backpacks and or since I see the lockpicking/remove trap, perhaps from containers? Us thieves aren't just pickpockets.

And looking for chests with detect hidden anywhere. There is a message when you are near one if you walk around. Removing a trap with the skill is not easy.

Having snooping on your thief helps with stealing.

I got a strange Message and now I'm curious!

I had room for 150 stones in my backpack.... so what was i trying to steal!?

I've had that message when stealing from monsters for balms. I never did work out what they'd got that I couldn't take. Nothing that was there when I'd killed them that's for sure.

You do know that, even at 120 Stealing, the heaviest item that you can "steal" is like 11 stones or so... So, I'm guessing whatever he had was more than 11 stones... It's been a decade or so since I've "trained" a Thief, but it seems to me that the message I got when trying to steal an item that was too "heavy" for my current skill level was something about it being "too heavy" or something to that effect...

If you properly trained a thief. Like the barrels on the walls of brit castle is a good place. 15 stone ringmail sleeves for the reverse type. Jeweled up 120 I think that is the same message when trying to steal the heavies.

I did stole some Pristine dread horn heads.. maybe one of the things i tried to steal was another Peerless Boss reward that was more then 12 stones......Maybe the crystals or mushrooms?

I see you have Hiding and Stealth maxed out. Do you have a macro that re-hides you right away after stealing ? Is that a 3D client macro or a 2D one ?

I mean, a macro that steals-->Hides in one key. If so, what is the timing you set in between the 2 actions ?

It looks to me that with most of the 720 skill points into thieving related skills if monsters attack there is little possible defense, so the only real survival chance is through hiding and stealthing away.

No macro. I just steal (target set to current) , run away and hide.

Nothing complicated.
