Its no error. It told there were going to be OL mixed with lizzards. It worries me. Its ok if you train as "Young" But not many youngs are so rational they get into a fitting armour and jump the dungeon from day one. They run around aimlessly checking out the land, often far from Haven. Then they check people what they wear and ride etc. They quest, raise skills , and do escorts and escorts and more escorts.. buy crap armour at the forge for the gold. Then they ask where shall I fight next and friendly people will tell about this dungeon. Some people are not even young by now, as they created a crafter/ miner at first to be able to meke their own armour. Quite common they do.
In Despise everything was so perfect for new characters. Lizzards and nothing else at first level. Then Ettins that gives nice gold and are harder than lizzards but not as hard as Earth Eles. There were like two or three earthies in a corner that you could awoid till you had skills and hp enough. Then a large area with a troll here and there , and the last area with Ogres and some Lords that you could avoid as the area was large and three of the four Ogres spawned on the islend. Titans Cyclops and Acid Ele area easy to awoid as well.
No complaints about the dungeon itself, it wont be crowded so I guess its big enough. But I think it would be nice if new players or even new chars with no young status could train there. I fear that even if vets give them a nice armour they will do badly and have a hard time to regain their oh so often uninsured belongings..
To fill the "missing link " between training in Old Haven and the next normal dungeon they can train in , the spawn at first level should be the lizzards and not too many, with some ettins in the back, not too many in that small surface as new players run and drag spawn around and create a mess for themselves. Down in that hole , preferably nothing at the center but the other four spots could have one or two of each earthies trolls and normal ogres. If there has to be a lord.. I wish it was just one and with a foot chain. We are talking about players that might be clueless about how to figt. They dont have good macroes set up. They have few hitpoints. Lousy healing and anatomy skill. Low dex. An Earth Elemental last loooong. Not even IF they are lucky and get a good armour from someone they will do good in there im afraid. With good I dont mean pulling out fortunes from there, its about training. With good I mean survive a fight now and then , not running as ghost more often that being fighting. Not being discouraged and give up.
When most of us were new everything was different. Even if we got PKed from day one and started with 100gp, the land was crowded with prople that could aid , the ower land spawn was much richer, the sewers were not bad for training with entrance from guard zone. And you could team up with plenty of players on your own level. AND..there were not much competition from other games. Players now are used to test lots of games and be catered from start so to them UO might look discouraging, and before they find out how good it is they have already left.
I have raised two sons during my UO career and watched them play about everything and seen how they and their friends think. How things and atitudes have changed since they as 12 and 14 year olds got their mum hooked on UO.
