Ok... So I have been trying to complete a Quest for the EM's. Now maybe it's just me and how horrible the RNG is for me... I swear I have -4billion in RNG luck or something.... but anyway....

So I hop on my 120 fisherman and put on the silly fisherman suit.... suit is supposed to add 50% to bait.... fine..... so I look NO despite the 100's and 100's of fishing quests I've done I have NO Zombie Fish Bait. So I say to myself well it can't be THAT hard to get a Zombie fish... Afterall my friend got one last time we went fishing for Mackrel.... I'm sure to get one.

4 days of fishing 50 loads of fish dumped into my chest and how many Zombie fish have I caught??????

So I am frustrated but I keep trying. I mention something about it in Vent... a friend gives me a cup of bait with 300 charges on it! Surely now I'll get some Zombie fish for the competition!

So back to the lake I go. First thing that frustrates the hell out of me is I have to bait the stinking hook EACH and EVERY cast. What a pain in the Arse.... Second thing that irritates me... WHY in the heck am I losing a charge for FOOTWEAR????? First off shoes can't nibble off my bait... secondly I didn't really "catch" anything and I shouldn't be getting hardly any stinking footwear anyway at 120!!!!!

Ok so Got the suit on got the bait I'm fishing fishing fishing..... and FINALLY I get a zombie fish after about 20 casts. I'm thinking to myself Whoot ! We are off to a good start.... it's only a 41 stone fish I'll need to get a bunch more if I'm going to have one to put in the competition.

280 charges later I have ONE Zombie fish.

Now I look at it this way... First off it takes how many 100 quests to even GET Zombie fish bait... Secondly you have to be 120 to catch one really.... and then WHY with a 50% bonus do you get one in 300 charges???? Does that just not seem wrong to anyone else?

I mean I know they are supposed to be "rare" and all but there is "rare" and then there is stupid rare. UO is supposed to be fun and relaxing and enjoyable. Why does it have to be THAT hard? I could see maybe 1 in say 50 charges maybe..... but 1 in 300????

Seriously there is something majorly wrong with that. Wonder why folk get pissy and leave UO? This would be one of those reasons. Stupid rare. It's just really NOT necessary. The only purpose to stupid rare is to infuriate the players.

Ok ..... so anyway does anyone else have this kinda bad luck????? Or is it not bad luck but as intended???

I don't know if it is intended (I sure hope it isn't), broken or just my normal bad RNG luck but i feel exactly the same about the suit and the bait and the process. I have never believed that either gave me any kind of boost. And the fact that you have to use 100's of uses of bait...ONE use at a time just makes you want to scream after a while!!! Sadly I rarely bait fish anymore *frowns*

I have been hunting some legendary fish my self. I have used 1000 bait charges, with junk proof hooks and a fisherman suit...... and not one damn legendary fish. And yes, I was in the correct spots. *cries*

Ive been a devoted fisher for 13 years and loved HS at first. But nothing was worth doing after a while. I dont use baits at all. Just a waste of time. I store the uncommon and trash the common baits for points. Hoping that one day the tweaks are made so I find it worth doing again. I just cant bring myself to trap another lobster to get a book or another useless bait. I need no new things added to High Seas, Just a change to success rates and usefulness for rewards, pies and loot.

the pies need to last half an hour and then i'd be using them all the time - 5 minutes just doesn't cut it - it isn't worth the effort to cook them for a 5 minute timer

Oh I agree with you all 100%. After 4 days of shear frustration at not getting a fish to finally get one after using bait then not get one again even using the stinking bait painstakingly applying it one use at a time I'm fairly well disillusioned once again with UO.

I see absolutely NO point to the fish being this freaking hard to get. I didn't work my fingers to the bone to get to 120 fishing just to fail time and time again. And at 120 my rate of getting boots should be as rare as getting those stinking fish are in my opinion the rates should be reversed. I should be fishing up the rare fish every 40 or so casts not Footwear. If I get a boot or a shoe or sandle it should be once in a blue moon and that pair of boots or whatever ought to have some RARE quality... like +3 skill in something or +3 Dex, Int or Str on it... Could even be +1 to +5 random chance you may get a +2 one day and a +5 the next... And you have to be GM+ to get them. Under GM you'd get nothing but plain footwear and the rate of that stays the same. But up the rate of the rare fish and drop that footwear rate to what the fish currently are and I think you might get more people out on the seas. That would make it more enjoyable and less of a frustration.

If they REALLY wanted the HS expansion to work then why make it so freaking difficult it drives people away??? This makes no sense to me at all.

I sure hope the dev that is in charge of fishing reads this thread and realizes that for each person that posted here, there are probably 25 of us people that feel the exact same way but didn't post. This has been a problem since HS came out and not one word about why it's so stupidly hard. Either fix the bloody RNG or change the chances so that we can get at least a fair chance. And as said above, please, please do something about crab and lobster fishing, it's a horrible grind. How many times do we have to repeat, I don't think there's one player that enjoys grinding, it's just not fun and takes all the enjoyment out of the task and therefore the game.

Have fished for a total of 24 in game hours, deep water Trammel with 120 Fishing and the only thing that bent my pole from the depths was an old school big fish that was 106 Stones. I can understand rarity.. but sheshhhhhhh

That's what I'm saying there is "Rare" and then there is "Stupid Rare". Why is it that soooo many things in this game have to be "Stupid Rare"?

I mean Yes I understand wanting to keep you trying for some goal... but honestly if all I do is try and come up empty .... Then eventually I'm gonna stop trying and say F*** it. This sucks.... and then I'm never gonna try again.

You have to find some balance between making it fun and just plain making it annoying and frustrating.... NO one plays a game to be frustrated. If all you end up with is frustration for hours of work then well it's not worth doing.

So DEV's give us a bone would ya?

I am wondering if something got snafu'ed in the last Pub or something. Even when I was 105 I have never went this long without catching at least one Yellowtail Barracuda. Been fishing steadily since the last post (so add that time in also) and still not even one of them :/ seems strange to me. *shrugs*

Ok finally one yellowtail barracuda. Started fishing around 11am this morning and it was finally caught at 3:30pm. Whew.... Yupp, dats definitely rare there
