None of the above.
I want Conjurer's event, where is it?
2013? 2014? Or disappear forever?
I guess it will just disappear forever... and I will be disappointed forever.
Good grief... I am getting so sick and tired of hearing all the moaning about that trinket... Don't you know that every Dev is keenly aware of this request/demand by now?
And since I started this thread, I'm gonna' be blunt for a sec here. ***I think that the
tendancy of some of the mod's here will be to look
carefully at how the thread proceeds from this point - with an eye on the screen and fingers on their
keys, but I'm also hoping that it can somehow remain civil enough to not warrent that, because this conversation is one that everyone should weigh in on...***
Either way, here goes....
My initial post read:
So, what was your favorite new thing from Halloween 2012?
Take the poll....
I was quite clear in my intent here.... I wanted to begin a conversation about
what people LIKED best this halloween.
My poll (and it's
intentional lack of an option D)
reflected that sentiment....
We are all keenly aware that there is are
certain among you - who cannot refrain from constantly derailing a conversation regarding the actual topic of the thread - and, while I certainly can't speak for anyone else here, I certainly can speak for myself - I believe that your negative comments (when the topic specifically does not enlist them) simply serve to shorten the original conversation, because positive people tend to be turned off by negative comments - it changes their mood from positive to negative and they don't like the feeling so they stop reading the thread. And who does it serve anyway, expressing these negative comments? Not me, and not you -
when the thread disappears...
So, if you really feel so strongly about the lack of imagination or coding talent or whatever that the Dev team has or hasn't, then why don't you start another stupid thread on that subject yourself - and not bring it here. I know that
if I were a Dev on this UO project - and I frequented Stratics to see how people felt about what I had done, and I opened this thread really hoping to see the fruits of my labor appreciated... It would be hard to not feel some of these comments as a personal attack. That's
simple human nature.... I mean, with comments like yours and the others who see fit to let us know how lame it all was, what sort of feelings would
you take back to
your desk tomorrow?
There is always room for Constructive Critism, but don't forget that
we are talking about people here...
If you're a Dev and you see this:
This was the stupidist freekin thing I have ever seen, none of the haloween stuff was interesting, and Didn't care for any of it...
or
If you're a Dev and you see this:
I have been collecting BONES since day one of Ultima OnLine. I think the earliest bones weren't even containers. They were used as decorative items in houses. Later it was marvelous that you could have bone boxes. The history of the bones would be interesting to know. This new addition on Halloween of named-bone containers has added another dimension of fun to the game. I'll be dreaming up NEW CHARACTER NAMES for next Halloween with hopes the named-zombie skeletons will again spawn!
and, one of my favorites from Mal:
The bones were EXTREMELY cool for RP reasons. I created "An Innocent" as well as "A Murder Victim"... RP wise very useful. Then I believe the rest of the community did a few named for each town. As well as getting bones for long "dead" enemies and friends.
Now as for the masks I love the collecting of them. Though I still am hoping they will give us the "Grimm" as a container that when turned on jumps up like that.... would be neat. I was working my tail to the bone to get Mesanna, EM Malachi and EM Elizabella masks.
As for the Trick or Treats that is always my favorite part but I can only spare time for it when there is something "new" to get. I did some to see what was dropping and to replenish my dwindling supply of Grim warnings and such... but when I heard I was getting the metallic cloth dye tub for Xmas perhaps, I quit working the Trick or Treats. And I must be the only one that misses having to fight my "evil twin". Mostly I really used to enjoy getting turned into various monsters and critters that was fun. I spent quite a bit of time taking screenies of the various ones I turned into that year.
In particular, notice those parts of Mal's post that I've bolded, cause I'm comin back to that....
You're a Dev.... Which of those comments do you think would have the
effect of enforcing your enjoyment of your job more and help keep you excited about going back to work on whatever the next project is?
When you see people that
feel that your work just stunk?
Or
When you notice that
entire communities actually enjoyed the possibilities that you presented with those named containers, (which should certainly make you smile and high-five that other Dev that thought it was cool too...)
Pay particular attention to the way she praises one aspect of Halloween and then in the very same sentance, she drops in a hint for a future request. THAT is the kind of constructive dialog that has always proven to solicit superior effort from its target. You get the most out of people that way. The next time you feel the overriding urge to criticise the Dev's for their work, you might want to pause and consider how you would feel in their shoes, if you had to listen to you....
So,
once again and finally, please begin your own thread and leave us alone in this one...
You can have all your negative energy proudly displayed for the all the others who feel the same way - in
your very own thread.... Here, just copy/paste this:
What I hated about halloween 2012.
Oh, and before you give me that tired old "I'm just giving you my opinion" crapola, take your opinion to your own negative thread...
Get famous for being a whiner on your own dime...
(That way, the rest of us can just click on one of them from time to time, to update our list of names to ignore...)
