Today is my last day as Community Manager at Mythic. I'll face a new and very exciting challenge from Monday on.

It has been great to work on Ultima Online and all other Mythic products for the last 2 years. I met amazing people here in the teams as well as out there among you players. My only regret is that I had to spread my attention over 5 different titles and never had the time to be really dedicated to one of them. But I take a lot of great memories with me.

I thank you for being the awesome, annoying, loyal, critic, understanding, demanding community that you are. The support you continue to give UO is really appreciated, and I know I leave the game in very good hands.

Until we meet again - thanks for all the fish, and no, you can't haz my stuff.

No Problem. I don't want all any of your stuff.:hahaha:
When and if you do come back any time, or before you leave, could you promote the idea that the powers-that-be should stop pouring useless items into the game? Our houses get so full of junk and keepsakes.

Good Luck to you RSS Feed. May you enjoy good health, prosperity and happiness in all you do, with your life full of loving family and caring friends!

* I think that says it well * BE HAPPY!

Kai (or Dr. Schober, as he's more appropriately styled) was the community manager at Mythic. He managed the community specialists/representatives, was involved in event planning, and authored web copy, among other things, across all of Mythic's titles.

Kai Schober became the Community Manager of Mythic in early 2011, more or less the same time Andy Belford left EA to become the Community Manager for City of Heroes, an mmo title he announced recently that it will shut down. You might not remember Andy as well, so let me refresh your memory, Andy was the guy interviewing the developers and the players at the 13th Anniversary / High Seas Town Hall, I know this because I had to ask my friends back then who he was. James Nichols, another Community Coordinator and Community Forums Manager nobody remembers of, left EA the same time as Andy Belford, but he became the Assistant Community Manager of Rift. UO lost two community managers nobody heard of in early 2011, thus you can see why Kai was hired. Rowland Cox, the third Community Manager (well, Community Coordinator) nobody heard of, still works for Mythic, but I could have said that he left with James and Andy, and nobody here would knew about it anyways.

Kai first posted a piece of news to uoherald.com back in April, 2011. He didn't post anything on forums until late June, 2012, just four months ago, so much that I was surprised that he was invited to Wayback Wednesday event in May without interacting once with the community. This long pause before his first forum post might be explained by, and I quote from Warhammer forums "I don't want to invent things or repeat empty sentences just to show presence". Unlike past Community Managers/Coordinators like Wilki, Jeremy and Chrissay, he didn't write any Five on Fridays (for new players, it is Ask and Answered now, which developers try to answer player questions just in one sentence), which might be explained by, again quote from his farewell post "My only regret is that I had to spread my attention over 5 different titles and never had the time to be really dedicated to one of them". Thus, he didn’t have the time to really concentrate on or work hard for UO by sparing time from other four titles.

You can see by now that Kai was actually hired after two Community Managers left, and he was expected to do the job of both, yet for two more additional titles, Ultima Forever and Age of Reckoning. We used to have our own UO Community Manager until 2009, and thus we expected him to deliver the same performance as the past ones, and it is no surprise that he didn't and many don't even know who he is. We should note that he still did something big for UO that no other person did for three years: UO.com , and for that, we're grateful and will remember him with that. Thanks for fixing the links and the website that were broken for three years, good luck Kai.

Tim Chappell probably helped Kai for UO.com and again will probably take over the job from Kai, thus it will be twice as difficult for him unless they hire an additional Community Manager. For those who don't know who Tim Chappell is, he started as a Community Manager in February, and we first noticed him as UO's Resident Ninja™ in early April.

I did help with UO.com and it will be difficult to fill Kai's big shoes, but he was a great mentor and is a good friend. Also, I love UO. I was a GM for many years, still play and have been lurking about these forums for a while now; though I may be stealthy at times. ;) I will do my best to keep uo.com updated and utilize it and these forums to engage with all you awesome UO players!

Tim's been a huge help here with account issues, brainstorming events, getting news published, etc. Kai's leaving things in good hands.

Damn, Nimuaq. Bookmarked and liked.

Before I knew Kai was German I was like, who is this guy working on five titles and posting all this stuff? Then I heard him on the Wayback and I was like, damn, son. Hope I'll be playing the next game Kai is PRing, if he will keep doing that, seems like a nice guy. And while I'm sure Tim will get things done fine, I would so love to work for EA if they open up an assistant position. That is, if Mesanna doesn't kill me, first ;).

But word, I shall be checking out EA Jobs like crazy. One door closes, one door opens... :p
