Order / Chaos Sieges

First off, I'm just theory crafting here. I'd welcome any suggestions. But the primary goals should be a system that is fun, fair, and balanced even if one side is drastically underpowered.

There's 6 faction cities for which battles are fought for ownership. Minoc, Moonglow, Skara Brae, Trinsic, Vesper, & Yew. Britain should have a different goal/purpose IMO. (unsure what yet)

Sieges would be held every two hours. Before the siege starts, it would teleport out all non-aligned players within the defending town. There is a NPC Commander for each side whose death signifies a victory. Additional NPC help and buffs would also strive to ensure battles are balanced. Number of current holdings, as well as active participants influence this additional assistance.

For example, an even fight with equal town holdings would have about 10 NPC defenders with about 1000 hp and different spawn points. These different spawn points would mean that you wouldn't have to kill them all, but some should be required to kill between the town entrances and the boss.
-- A 20 person offense vs 10 person defense with only 1 holding would have 30 NPC defenders, with more of the defenders sticking together. A severely outnumbered team like this example would also receive a 33% hp increase. A 3 to 1 outnumbered team would receive a 50% hp increase. An attacking force which has fewer numbers can also receive similar benefits.

Whichever side kills the opposing faction commander, wins the battle. The attacking commander would be harder to kill due to a higher density of leashed NPCs in the campsite. If the defending commander is still alive after 45 minutes, the defenders win and receive points and possible rewards from their leader. More faction NPCs with near guard-whack abilities can repel any remaining enemies in the town.
Victorious contributers of significant damage done/taken/healed would receive points for faction gear and also a small chance at arties/replicas. The losing side would receive half points. If one side wins 3x in a row, they will NOT receive a chance at arties.

Whichever side wins, the system would then pick city at random for their next siege. If one side has no towns, the system randomly picks 1 for them to attact. (increases npc help/desparation buffs)

Inactive players would be teleported out of the area or reported and suspended from factions.

Healers would be faction based, with a healer at the attacker's campsite outsite the city. Reduce stat timer to 20% for 3 min.

This system should self-balance itself to the point where every battle is competitive. Extremely strong factions would usually be fighting for control of a 5th or 6th town, with a near 50% win rate.

No no no no no please no!! Order/Chaos in it's original form!! Mindless fighting, any facet, no rewards, no quests, no guarding, no nothing else. From there players can decide their own towns to "guard" and hang out in.

I would recommend a kill/death and even possible Assisted kill counter (for the gankers) being added so if you single click a player it shows like on Test Center.

I don't want to diminish your ideas in anyway Yadimaan, but from the many posts I've read, Lythos-'s view has been the majority opinion in regards to this topic. Many people just want to see the plain old-school version of Chaos and Order with possibly minor additions that don't effect how the system functions, an example being a kill/death counter (or UO.com tracking function) like Lythos- mentioned.

In the *PvP need some attention* thread, Berethrain proposed the idea that it might be in the best interest of us pvpers to focus on smaller pvp issues, and less on dramatic system changes at this time. The general theory being: large publishes that try and fix all the problems in one shot generally fail to deliver a high quality experience. I have come to agree with him and would enjoy seeing you put your obviously fantastic imagination into maybe a series of 5-10 smaller and more focused suggestions that you could see being implemented in successive publishes.

Thank you for the neat idea, but on this topic people seem to be fairly consistant in how they want to see Chaos and Order pan out.

Cool, world of ultimacraft. How creative. If memory serves me correctly, the Alterac Valley battle ground was often criticized for being a pvm encounter with a pvp tag on it. What you just suggested is nearly identical, as I'm sure you know. People don't pvp to kill npcs, which should be obvious.

Maybe you can put your suggestions for a new revamped faction system? Maybe have that system go by the city loyalty. Keep thinking and keep suggesting!!

For old vet players like myself, we miss the old mindless pvp that Order/Chaos gave us. The thrill of doing nothing but searching for pvp. No hard feelings and don't give up!!

I miss it too but u fortunately even it being a pvp system it's being overlooked by glorified trammies..it's unfortunate but there won't be a true order/chaos like before and if it was..noone will join it no matter how high the reward..but on another note bring it back I miss my chaos tag!!!

In PvP less = More

Less Farming = More PvP time
Less Stat Loss = More PvP Time
Less Requirments = More PvP'ers
Less Restrictions = More Places to PvP

Alright here's a small change. Increase faction points awarded in towns and dungeons.

They just need to erase factions completely the completely borked them..add chaos/order free for all and make every character join one or the other..and you can choose 1 of 3 permanent option whole world pvp fel only or none at all..and sell a token to have the ability to change it for 4.99..

Well, I duno about forcing people to join. Maybe Order members take 10% less damage from everything except for Chaos members, and vice versa.

Why not? They have the option to turn off pvp permemtly for non pvp chars that's what the real complaint is..you can set to no pvp no pvp in tram or all out seems fair
You can still spar guildies for to purposes be a crafter be a pvmer all aspects are covered with one permanent toggle..that can of course be bought off for a nominal fee

Well if they're in a faction with pvp disabled, then it's really just for RP value. But some people may want to RP a mercenary or neutral. However, if your goal is so people can join a Order/Chaos guild but still remain blue, then I support that since we don't need anything that discourages a community.

What do u mean blue healers? Non pvp characters can only enter fel under the pre tense that while in felucca ruleset they are attackable by the opposite allegiance..and may not commit any beneficial acts to opposing faction there's no problem being in fel and being able to commit bene to ally's as in they are 100% attackable

I don't think having people pay to change their playstyle will work or is fair.

I want the original Order/Chaos where someone curious about pvp can join and try it out on any facet. If they don't like it they can quit instantly with no consequences. The same system where someone can switch sides depending on who they want to fight. Where we can find pvp anywhere at anytime.

I do think a long term, well thought out, Faction revamp would be good to compliment to Order/Chaos later on, maybe even in a future booster. I think faction arties should be made available to the public, possibly as loot with Galen's new harrower idea that i think is just the most grand idea ever. I think stat time should be shortened to 7min and adjusted lower depending on how many faction players did damage. The population just isn't there to justify 20min anymore. Plus the whole faction system was designed around a prehistoric time when it took 2min to cast explosion (just saying) and there were enough people to keep a fight going for a great period of time.
