Quick poll for some research :)

So I was wondering...

When buying something that you want/need do you

A) Shout a the bank, in general chat or shop around for the cheapest you can find it?

B) find the item and pay for it no matter what the price is...

this is a simple poll please base it on what you think you would do on average or what you would be most likely to do...


Please let me know and if you want give a little bit about why you would do which ever option

I'd go for the rl shoe bargains thats what im going for I already get great idoc ingame items at a steal.

Tav is right you need a C answer as many here will tell you its not cut and dry as what you offer.
If I need something that can wait... i shop around
IF on the other hand its something that i NEED asap I will ask in chat, as I shop the hadies out of my rune books of vendors and luna..
Then if its something that cant wait and I super need it (very very veyr rare this one) I will over pay.... but frown at it.
And Warpig has a point........ If its something my guys cant make, hunt up, or trade for...... The question crosses my mind.. Do I REALLY NEED IT?

Hmm I maybe should of explained better in my OP... for those of you that don't do any of the answers pick the one you would most likely do... I needed the pool to be a black and white poll for a specific reason.

The main reason is... even if i added more options there will always be someone who will want one more option.. So stick to the two and then anyone who wants to add more can freely on the thread I am looking for some good quotes to go with my research

What is the purpose of the research? With just those two choices as you have them worded, I'm wondering what you intend to do with the results of this poll. You look to be biasing the statistics for some reason.

What are you trying to generate in the way of 'quotes' to show 'what' with your research?

I went with "Wait it out" as it is my default nature, but I certainly have bought "over priced" items depending on the circumstances. Never rediculously priced items, but ones I considered on the high end. I don't ever plan on reinforcing some of the insane prices people come up with when trying to re-sell etc... that would be bad business on my part.

I answered B but that is very rare moment that there is something in the game that I want/need which I cannot be bothered to get. Item that I did do this with is the quiver from Despise. I saw one in Luna for sale and while the price was steeper than I wanted I also knew that I was never going to bother doing the wisp quest to get it. It fit a PvP suit of mine which is the only place I acutally spend gold in game anymore so off I went. That said over the last 5 years I cannot think of much that I have bought other than transfer tokens or runic kits. There isn't much in the game that you can't farm yourself and given that no one seems to play much I am just playing now more to pass the time.

I do understand your need for the info as you asked for but to be honest nether is one id do consistantly. You see there are different degrees to the term NEED.
I may need a vase to finish off a deco i am underway with on one of my homes but I wont be spending more then its worth.
I may need one of the NEW suits of armor but cost does matter I am not a foolish woman to throw gold away for something that might not work.
I may need but there is a BRAIN in my head that tells me Weigh it out... do you really need it? I am not a Foolish Woman. I am Feluccian, We are penny pinching that would make a lich squeel stop when we loot them! Nothing is spent without the scale of need being tempered with frugality

A simple poll.

He gave 2 options and I even voted for one. Now I have done both but I used option A more than B so I chose A


If he gave 10 options there would be some asking for at least 2 more to be added I kid I kid lol

The problem with your poll is that you put need and want as the same determining factor. I put pay at any price even though I am not willing to pay "any price". If I find something I really want and I know it is a higher than I have seen them go for in the past, I make my judgement on how much do I want it right now.
Generally for me I will do my best to find it myself for that is the reason I play. To do stuff, not own stuff. If it is a craftable I will wait till the market is saturated then buy it at the everyone has one now price. If I need something, I again base it on the price. I am not an instant gratification person.

I suppose some part of me wants the person who put it at such a high price to suffer the fees of the item for making it that high.

I also will walk the lands high and low to find the best price instead of purchasing it at the first place I find.

You also don't say what you consider overpriced. Are we talking 10, 20, 30%? or 100, 200, 300%?

To many variables I say.

Looking back over the questions I think the options are perfectly fine. The "buy it now" option fits in well with those that shop for a good deal. The option doesn't necessarily say we are buying an overpriced item.

Anyway, my option C) is I get what I want by soloing. I don't really buy anything unless it's renewable (like powder fort).
