Just decided to sign up after not having played in forever. No clue what my username/password were on my maxed out account so I just said screw it and started a new one. Anyway, I've got some loot along the way and have no idea what to sell it for. Is there a general guide? Here are some items I've found in the last hour or so. I play on Atlantic if that matters. If anyone could price quote these for me I'd appreciate it.

Also, what the heck is an artifact and how does it differ from a normal magic item? I've been keeping all the artifacts since I didn't know.

Bracelet - 30% damage increase, 8 strength increase, 15% chance to hit
Bracelet - +15 Stealth, +15 Mysticism, +5 Chivalry, 3 mana regeneration, 20% lower regent cost, -100 luck
Ring - +15 Archery, 30% damage increase, 4 mana increase, 10% enhance potions, 6% spell damage increase
Executioners Axe - 50% damage increase, 50% mana drain, 20% hit lower defense, 4 mana increase, 15% hit chance increase
Gargoyle Plate Shield - 9% damage eater, spell channeling, 4 strength bonus, 5 hit point increase
Battle Axe- 50% stamina leech, 87% mana leech, 87% life leech, 50% mana drain, 20% fatigue, -100 luck
Gargoyle Leather Chest - 4 strength bonus, 4 dex bonus, 8 stamina increase, 5% reflect physical, 20% lower regent cost, 10% physical resist, 21% fire, 22% cold, 21% poison, 21% energy

Also, one more question. Haven't played in a while so I went with my probably outdated skill set. What is the best for killing monsters these days? Currently I am...

100 tactics
100 swordsmanship
100 focus
100 anatomy
90 parrying
90 healing
60 resist
30 magery
30 meditation

Thanks in advance.

Yes, welcome back! The warrior forum has some great threads that you should read. Most people are running necro on warrior templates now to take advantage of either curse weapon spell or vampire form for their life leech ability. You can look for sampire or whammy templates.

As far as the items you posted: I'm not sure if you have the Stygian abyss upgrade, or if you are aware of imbuing, but in general, single "good mods" like 15 hci are no longer that valuable, unless they are accompanied by only other useful mods for a warrior in this example. The reason is that an imbuer can make 15 hci on jewelry, and can also add damage increase, dci, and make what 10 years ago was unobtainium. So, also read up on imbuing to put loot value in perspective.

This template brings back memories. :)

Nowadays, warriors use chivalry to fast-travel (instead of 30 mage w/ recall scrolls) and 120 weapon skill (among other things). Resist is also less popular today than it used to be. The most popular warrior template currently is the "sampire," who uses the necromancy spell "vampiric embrace" to assume vampire form, which converts damage you deal into health. Thanks guys. So what's an example of an item I should hang onto if I get it as loot?

jewelry what is unique is the 5% and 10% SSI.

When you make your tamer go for the Tame/Animal Lore/ Vet/Discord/Music/Mage. Pack of 110HP frenzy ossi to start with. The collecting / bonding of a tough frenzy pack will be the slow part of this template. Luck suit.

Welcome back.

It's hard to price equipment. Not only is there the fact that one's needs can be rather specific (and thus what's value-less to you may be of great value to someone else) but many of the pieces that are worthless even in objective terms can be used by a new crafting skill called Imbuing to make ingredients to use that skill to make customized magic items (as in you pick the mods).

Poke around, explore, ask any questions you may have.

As to templates you no longer need 30 magery on a warrior. You can either use the Chivalry spell Sacred Journey or use charges from a runebook with zero magery.

For a basic warrior template until you find something you like, here's a guide.

-Weapon Skill
-Tactics
-Anatomy
-Healing
-Focus (also called Battle Focus by some) OR Meditation (if you want to use only leather armor or armor with the "mage armor" property)
-Resist OR Parry
-Bushido OR Chivalry (if you have Bushido and Parry, use a 2-handed weapon or a 1-hander without a shield).

The options are endless but that's kind of the most-basic warrior templates.

The game's still quite fun. Welcome back.

Not sure how new you are but there is a chat now. Turn on your general chat is your best tool as a returning player. Avoid after school and before bedtime hours unless you need a good laugh and expand your ignore list. There are players out there that live to make armor and weapons right down to starter level stuff for free.

...and if ya want to design a mage-template that is competitive and suited for about 95 % of all PvM-battles/-dungeons/-opponents, you might consider something like that:

BASICALLY
Magery
Eval Int
Meditation

PLUS
Mysticism (+Focus) (nice: Cleansing Winds and Colossus)

PLUS
Necro + Spirit Speak (nice: Wither and Wraith Form)

OR
Spellweaving (nice: Arcane Empowerment and Word of Death)

Never found a place where templates with one of these combos were completely helpless...

Why am I talking about this? You asked for "best template to kill monsters" and it is extremely easy to train these skills nowadays: you will be able to build up a strong and reliable char within about a week or two... With a char like this you will be able to solo many spots as well to support others everywhere on Sosaria.

Useful equipment will have Lower Reagent Cost, Mana Regeneration, Spell Damage Increase, Faster Cast Recovery, Faster Casting - you might also look for Lower Mana Cost and Intelligence Boni. Warrior properties can be tricky for beginners, as you have to deal with quite complex formula (and I am no expert in this business) including slayers, HCI, DCI, SSI, Hit Effects, Hit Area Effects, Weapon types, Weapon moves (primary, secondary...) and so on and so on. Can be very frustrating in the first weeks :D

You don´t have to build up chars with 120 skill, it will be sufficient to reach 110 in the main skills (e.g. magery & mysticism, so that the higher spells don´t fizzle all the time) - which makes a template like this also VERY cheap, because you don´t need to get the expensive Legendary Scrolls. 110-scolls have a price range you will be able to reach with some monster-farming (many monsters give 1000 gold and more). I am sure you will find nice players that help you out with LRC-equipment (no regs for casting needed) and some scrolls...

I always started with such chars because you have many options, don´t need much knowledge and can use them as cash-generators. If you are rather the "warrior"-kinda player - forget these lines. Otherwise you might think about it :D

Ok, that's 7 skills... I'm interested in what base levels you carry with each of these... ;)

...well, this Armor Set used to me a nice set for training/beginners. But it will take some time to get the full set by hunting - you might get one from a player. Most crafted suits, however, are much better - even many loot-parts you will get are much better. So, I throw these pieces in the Clean Up-Trash Barrel, they give nice points.

I wrote "something" like that and put some of the skills in [...] - I wanted to make clear that you can build a template by combining some of these skills... You can use lover levels on some for getting others higher, you can drop some, you can use jewelry... But I think you know all that, don´t you?

Well, yes: There is a progam called "Clean up-Britannia". You can throw in stuff (public trash barrels, e.g. Luna, WBB) and get points in return. These points can be consumed for getting nice stuff from a Clean Up-Officer hanging around there...

You can "appraise" stuff before you throw it away - by this you can learn about the no. of points you will get for the items...

Thanks again. Any idea what I should kill for good loot now that I've moved past earth elementals? Killed some daemons but wasn't impressed with the magic stuff. Clay golems seem okay. Just not sure where I go from here.

Also need to know if you have any crafter blood in ya. Hunting for leathers for future needs or just to sell. Imbuer might be the first to skill of use. If you have found some active crafters that meet your needs you maybe better off hunting for their needs and completely avoid the crafting headache.

Try Wrong dungeon. The lizardmen at the enterance can put out nice loot and not of gargoyle type. Human elf gear there.

Yes, good idea! Both ideas good: Wrong is nice for soloing and crafting is very nice for starting a business and earning some money :)

Just a few thoughts for you.

With the template you posted I think level 1 of shame or wrong is probably your best bet for solo hunting. Unfortunately, at least IMO, that template will probably limit you to that level of hunting.

My standard suggestion for pretty well all new players that I come across is to create a gargoyle mystic/Mage/spell weaver. For general all purpose pvm, I believe it is by far the most cost effective and powerful template. Your shame hunting would be an ideal way to collect some training pieces... Shoot for 100 lrc and 40 lmc. It should be fairly easy to get gargish pieces to total that, even off earth eles.

Magery and mystic train pretty quick once you have the lrc suit, and even at 100 mystic you will cast a colossus without always fizzling. With a few cheap or donated 110/115 powerscrolls you can improve your casting success further.

Once you have magery and mystic trained, you should be able to complete the spellweaving quest to start adding that ski, it has several spells to compliment you mystic spells/summons.

I recommend both stratics and uoguide as good sources of information on skill training and quests.

Personally, this is the template I go with anytime I start playing a new shard because of its ease to build and it's effectiveness for pvm. Here is what my finished template looks like:

120 magery
120 eval int
120 mystic
120 focus
120 spellweaving
120 meditation

You won't have all 120's for a while, so I usually put my remaining skill points in resist.

As a side note... For purely a money making opportunity I recommend doing the new despise with a few other people on your shard. You should be able to get a low level pet (I recommend a centaur) down to Andros. It make take a few tries, but eventually the RNG will favor you with a drop. You should be able to sell it for a few million gold pretty easy as well. A few times like that and you can get 10-15 million in the bank pretty easy.

Thanks for the information everyone.

One more question I thought of... you guys keep saying get to 120 in certain skills but I seem to have maxed out at 100. Do I need the newest Sybian Abyss update for 120?

You needs scrolls of power that are dropped when completing Felucca champ spawns. They come in 105, 110, 115, and 120, with the later being the most expensive.

I know on Napa Valley if you ask around people will usually give you 110 or 115 scrolls... and occationally even 120 scrolls for the less in demand ones. Magery is going to be the most expensive scroll you would need, but it is also one of the least important for the PvM Mystic/Mage build.
