Blackthorn's paperdoll -> New EC's paperdoll?

Hello all.

Today at Atlantic's event i saw something interesting. For a moment, Blackthorn's paperdoll "bugged" and while it was so, his paperdoll was in the same pose that the EC's current paperdoll but with his new outfit.

There isn't any direct relation but... what about if that new Blackthorn was made using the supposed new paperdoll they are working on? That without diappers like Mesanna told us in the last letter. If you watch it carefully, the only thing that changes is the lower half of the body, which isn't crouching anymore.

What do you think?

I can't see how that'd be possible. A change like that would need to be patched into the game. And surely they'd not be testing new features on live shards or via EMs.

I think what you've seen is the character skins. Lord British has his own, Dupre does, Minax had one I'm pretty sure. They're like... items you drop onto the character I think, same way you'd put a plate tunic on, and it changes how you look in both game and paperdoll.

BLackthonr's paperdoll bugged on Europa too. Although in this bug he was wearing a cloak and his skin mixed together.

On Atlantic he was bugged for a few seconds and then his new image was shown, it was awesome looking, which we could all look that good in game, by the way I saw it in classic client!!!

I know what character skins are, Dupre, Blackthorn and Lord British got theirs in the classic client.
What i mean is that for a moment in Atlantic, Blackthorn was wearing a "skin" that was in the same stance as the EC's paperdoll is. Like if there were ANOTHER Blackthorn's skin made using the EC paperdoll as template. Then it turned into the new skin we see normally.

The upper body looks the same but if you look carefully at his legs, they aren't "crouching" like the EC's paperdoll.

In the letter they said that "no more diappers". Maybe the new paperdolls are like Blackthorn's, just a fix in the lower body.

Looks like Blackthorn's paperdoll, like the male EM paperdoll uses a specially made image for it.

It's "husky" and there's nothing wrong with that. Don't give him a complex.


I like the suit. His hips seem to be thrust forward in a strange John-Cryer-Two-and-a-Half-Men sort of way.

Special characters like British, Blackthorn, etc. don't make up their appearance with items; they're actual character skins that the characters morph into. That's probably why the paperdolls look different. It's the same for GMs. In recent times, the red robes are actually part of the body of the character themselves; they're not physical items which can be removed.

The same glitch above with the robe over the regal outfit also happened in the EC on Atlantic. It wasn't just a cc bug. It lasted a couple of minutes before it corrected.

I think that the EM simply forgot to remove the robe from his paperdoll after changing his character's skin, so the robe was still showing on top of the new skin...

You can also see a similar effect with the Blackthorn NPC on Europa: the EMs forgot to shave his old beard, so there's an extra beard floating on top of his face.
