I know your comment was referring to the difficulty of spawns, but I would be reluctant to say that there is nothing wrong with them. There has been some good points brought up on both sides of this topic. Many spawns really are easy to do solo, however there is nothing inherently wrong with being able to (or wanting to) solo a spawn. There is also nothing wrong with wanting more of a challange and more reward for that extra difficulty. I will not say that one side or the other is right and the only suggestions so far that could conceivably satisfy the most people would be the suggestion Cazador made about a "tiered" encounter, or Merus' "adaptable" spawn system where the spawn would scale as more players became involved. The system that would work the best or be the easiest to implement is not certain.
One thing most people seem to agree on is the reward for spawns ought to be looked at. The loot all uses the old system (not that the new system is without flaws, but that is a seperate issue), many of the replicas are undesirable, and powerscrolls to a large degree are unsought except for a select few. *One thing I would love to see would be a guarantee to get at least one 120 scroll. We still need to hit the RNG to get one that is useable, but no 120s out of a spawn is just rude...*
We need to remember we have no facts on changes, this is all just speculation and we need to keep an open mind until we get some official information. The majority of this topic has been a good read with many interesting ideas suggested by the participants.
My philosophy is still the same. If you want a more difficult spawn don't take your slayer weapons. Don't play your sampire. Do things to make the game more difficult versus complaining on stratics that "This
insert your task here is too easy for me. I can solo it all day without dieing. Please make it harder!!" What eventually happens is that people get tired of dieing constantly to the new beefed up monster and the risk becomes greater than the rewards and people stop dong it, except for the power gamers who were the ones who initially complained.
If they want to rework the loot I am all for it. I would like to be see some new style loot on the champs corpse. If they even wanted to make it to where with 2 peeps you had to kill 2x the monsters or 1.5 times the monsters to bump a candle, whatever. But don't go through adding 5k HP Imps or Lizardman thinking it is going to be harder. In reality all it will do is just make me stand there and whirlwind for 3-5 minutes and then get pissed off and start closing down accounts. They did this exact thing with the champ bosses. So instead of it taking me 60 secs to kill coon it takes me 4-5 mins. In all reality he became no harder..just took longer to kill.
The reward for spawns I think is pretty good. I can solo a rat in 30 mins or less. I generally get 2-4 pinks (with protection pinks) and then 12 PS (if I solo). Sometimes i get nothing good..sometimes I get a 120 Magery and Mystic (happened yesterday). Sometimes i get some Intel boots, other times a slime statue. I on average can make around 1-2m per spawn selling whatever scrolls I get. I sell 110 and 115 PS. Sell them pretty good. In the past month I have made 30m off them and I barely stock the vendors and play on a SLOW shard. As far as replicas go, if I wanted a better replica I would go do Semidar, Rikktor, or Abyssal Infernal champs. Still takes me around 30 mins to do those spawns. I still can make 100-150m a month doing spawns 3-4 nights a week and only doing a couple.
I do hope that if they do this they at least get some player feedback from people who actually use this system regularly (PvPers and Spawn Guilds). I could give them some great ideas to add a challenge to the spawns. Add some spice to things while also still making them a viable hunting option and area for a solo player or a group.
