Goldsink idea

Most people don't use cursed items. At least I've seen almonst none, wearing cursed items. Here's what came to my mind:
Let some NPC sell a "wand of uncursing". This should be expensive. I.e. 1 million. This would be a single use item. If you use it on a cursed item, the wand would go poof und the targeted item will become uncursed. Therfore the property "Cursed" should be replaced by "Uncursed". And also if it had no durability, i.e. jewelry, it would get a durability 255/255. Furthermore it should become brittle, so you can't use the item forever and has an approximate lifetime as an imbued item. Now here comes the catch:
If you repair an uncursed item, the item will become CURSED AGAIN! If it's insured or blessed, that will be removed as well. Thus, if you want to uncurse it again, you have to buy another wand.

Here's another idea for a "Cannot be repaired"-Item: Let some NPC sell a "wand of fortification". Again this would cost some gold, i.e. 1 million. Single-use of course. To use such a wand, the targeted item must have the "cannot be repaired"-property and has to be in perfect condition (= the durability has to match the maximum durability). So if you use it, the property "cannot be repaired" will stay, but the durability would be increased to 255/255. The "perfect condition"-constraint would ensure, that you cannot wear the item down to almost zero durability then repair it up to 255 as well as use another wand a second time on that item.

I would love the idea of the wand of fortification for my replica knights armor

I like the "Wand" idea.. maybe some of the garbage I throw at my smith to unravel would be worth something.

Replicas don't have the "Cannot be repaired" property. Thus it should not work. Besides, that armor can be bought as many times as desired.

That's exactly my point.

your right about it being repaired my thoughts were on removing the unable to use power of fort on them. Over time the armor pices will drop to 0/0 and you will be unable to repair them.

bad idea. There would be hundreds of legendary items (un-cursed) in days.

IMHO I don't think you would see as many as you think. How many of these items have all the mods on them that really go together, not that many. Someone will un-curse an item and the first thing they will want is thier 1M back and then add what they think it is worth when in fact it prob isn't worth the 1M to begin with. These items will just sit on vendors and eat up sellers gold. Now that's a good gold sink.

At 1mm per use, hells no. If it were prohibitively expensive, sure. Like gold cost = imbuing weight squared * 100
Why does every gold sink have to be mega mills to work that only the select few super rich can afford? I know so they can corner the market. Make it so more can afford it and it very well may become a gold sink.

If we were going to go this route, I'd prefer something like this:

1. Ilshenar Gypsy camps would gain a new NPC, that for 1000 GP times the cost the item would require for insuring if uncursed, temporarily remove the Cursed property. Cursed would changed to "Curse Suppression" and a 12 hour timer that only runs when the item is equipped. During that time, it will function as "Owned by". After it runs out, the suppression timer would change to a week (real world time) that the item would have to wait to have its curse suppressed again. However, each time the curse is suppressed, there is a 1% chance that the property is permanently removed (and gain the "owned by" tag for the character).

2. Have Smith & Tailor BOD rewards altered, to where two new rewards drop rarely (as in about a 10% chance as an alternative to one of the high end hammers, like the +5 mining gloves are to POF). Each is one use, and can ONLY be used by the character that turned in the BOD. One will remove "Brittle", the other "Cannot be Repaired" off any item, but the character has to have Grandmaster in the skill needed to repair the item. However, this process has a chance of failure equal to 10% of the insurance GP value of the item (so most high end items would have a 60% failure chance), and a chance to break based off that as if that failure check was an enhancement check. Is the risk worth it?

i like Basara's idea sounds more reasonable i know if they went the wand route id uncurce the few chests full of legendary items ive stashed awaiting just such a thing and i for one would never need to find anything else untill a new mod came out that sounded fun...1m a wand just isnt a big price to pay really for such a thing, and like frodo said it should be cheaper so everyone can take part in the gold sink--a gold sink is to take gold out of the game not take the little bit of gold away from players that dont have alot it needs to be something rich folks will spend hundreds of mils on tbh.

I bolded the right answer. A good gold sink needs to be designed so all players can use it not just the super rich. So we make a gold sink a few can use and all they will do is use it to get richer and the norm player gets left out in the dark again. You want a gold sink for the rich then make that a deco item only. Anything that has a game changing effect needs to be open to all not just the select few. Anything that can change the game needs to be priced at a resonable rate or all you will do is have the attude from the player of "Here we go UO is cattering to the select few again."
