To be able to roleplay an a-hole!!
Need I say that someone, who's name rhymes with "slay me, *****" is quite self absorbed?

Nah, no need. He speaks for himself. Well at least he has one fan. Rumpy loves him to death!

Siege is great because it is challenging. It also reminds me of the good old days of UO.

Yep, I was in the UO beta.

Damn Rumpy, why are you yelling for attentions all the time? People do not get famed that way, they get famed from others telling about them, that be for good or bad actions.
See me, someone is crying more about faction than me
See me, someone is crying about my guild and special me
See me, someone is crying about Arrr and special me killing people , see me please
See me, I'm so evil, I believe I even made someone quit Siege
See me, I success annoying players so much, that they even quit gen chat
See me, I also cry about price jacking!!!
See me, I'm worthy to worship and fear
See me, I dream about you speaking about me, when I'm not on
See me, I RP an a-hole
WHY do you not see me? I'm so cool, see it now. Why do you all ignore me, why do you not see how cool I am and how much I want to see Siege grow and get more players.
WHY WHY
What can I do more to make you see me?

Yes we see your point of Siege :)
Sorry could not resist:devil:

For me the point of Siege is somewhere I can craft and know I have customers who will buy what I make.
Where I can have vendors who actually supply players who need my goods - and not re-sellers using me as slave labour.
Where, with the very odd exception, I might be murdered, but very rarely humiliated by trash talk.

My Story? I created a character to provide an extra 1k gold for my hubby. I hadn't planned on staying. Then I thought I'd stay as support for him, making a crafter. Since that hadn't been my first intention I didn't have any relevant starting skills so I started everything from scratch. My first death came while still wearing the clothes the game dressed my character in at the start. Cheapsuit smacked me at Moonglow gate. I just thought 'No, I'm not going to be a quitter. I'm here and I'm damn well staying'.

I've been flirting with Siege for many years, I chose to make someone here as I liked the idea of a single character that I couldn't support with my usual menagerie of back-up crafters etc. I enjoyed being skint too, I loved the fact it took me what seemed like FOREVER to save up for a little house, I was so proud when I placed heh.

I love the fact I've only been killed once in all these years (granted I've not played consistently but still). I love the fact that the person who killed me actually had to run away to heal up and change his plan 'cause I gave him such a walloping with my pitchfork lmao. Hehe still makes me chuckle. Granted if anyone catches me out in the field these days I'd probably be dead in a couple of swipes. Still pack a mean punch with me pitchfork though ;).

A few nights back I FINALLY finished my girl off with GM healing haha it's taken YEARS! Not right sure what to do with her next now though. Gonna start reading up on Factions and see where that takes me.

I love the fact I have to 'hoof' it everywhere I go, I would never have seen half the places I've seen if it hadn't been for Siege.

I love the fact that I opened my account in Oct 1999 and it's taken me this long to finally realise it was probably Siege I was looking for all along. Bliss had me cornered the other night, he couldn't see me but knew I was there, I managed to escape after a few minutes of dodging him, my heart was THUMPING! Granted I could just run upstairs IRL and get the same thrill :p.

Like I said at the beginning of this dissertation I started flirting with Siege many years ago, now it's finally started flirting back. I've just started tidying up on my main shard and am seriously considering a permanent move here and all the fun and games that will entail.

Cheers,

Lucy (& Mollie)

Siege is the closest thing on the official servers to what I've heard about back in the "good old days" of UO. Since I just started last year, after playing a few months on Catskills only to learn the game and such, I made a character on Siege and exclusively play it now. It's the only open ended, free for all PVP, sandbox game that isn't bugged to hell (unlike Mortal Online) and has enough content (unlike Darkfall) to be worth a sub. And the community is pretty good :D

+1. Although its still alot more carebear than old UO, its the closest thing to the open world sandbox I want. EVE almost achieved what I was looking for, but I am a loner and EVE pretty much requires having a group of people to play with. Star Wars Galaxies although rife with problems had awesome PvP and crafting. Too bad it is gone now. I also like that most of the players are mature, and those that aren't are too dimwitted to do anything other than cry and play the fool.

Two of my three chars are crafters and I just enjoy living on the edge where you can be attacked, robbed, or whatever - and trying to prepare yourself in advance to deal with accordingly. Crafting and income from it seems to be on an uptick. Glad to see more folks showing up.

The point of Siege is it is the last stop on the UO train. I've only played for 5.5 years, so was never exposed to the early days of the game. I was however getting disgusted with all of the BS and drama on my starting shard and, had it not been for Siege, would have long ago left the game. I like the fact that we have a smaller community. Everyone who has been around for just a little while knows everyone else who plays regularly. Our economy is not insane and driven more by effort than real life $. Even our Pk'ers here have more honor I believe than those on the prodo shards. Attending an EM event here is enjoyable because our players are much more mature and you're not overwhelmed by the spammers and griefers that you see everywhere else. I also enjoy interacting with people from all over the globe as we have such a diverse player base. Where else in UO can you play with people from across the pond? The people who play Seige usually have to deal with greater lag, no insurance, paying for multiple accounts and the risk of death for one reason... They like pretty much everyone else who plays Seige. ;)

Not with ****heads like you runnin factions :)
Someone is having a full on meltdown today. I realize you just use UO as a sort of catharsis for whatever bad crap you have going on in real life (which is why I don't pick on you much anymore) but the juvenile spamming is just way too needy and pathetic. Have some self respect man, you will regret all this if you ever get better. If you really want to "roleplay a villain", why not spend a little time to come up with something good instead of all these taunts that basically boil down to varying versions of "I know you are but what am I". Don't be such a lazy ass.

As an aside, I truly hope whatever RL problems you are having trouble dealing with resolve themselves.

Ok back to topic.
Why do I play Siege? I started on Atlantic year 1997. I really loved this game and to me, the reds was a exciting part of the game.
Then alot started to cry about the reds and not being able to leave town without getting killed. They wanted the game different than I wanted.
Devs added stat loss to reds, when they died with more than 5 murderer counts. It was not temp stat loss but delete of upto 25% of their skill points, and if they died once more, 25% more.

Even when I was not red at that time, I had alot red friends and I loved fighting both them and other reds who attacked me. I did not want to ruin their char if I should be lucky and win the fight.

Then Siege was born and I moved to get my game back and even when stat loss is long gone on normal shard, they added Trammel, so Siege is only shard left for me.

I like we all need each others, no matter if we are crafters, PvM or PvP or something else and I like all can go everywhere.

For me, the point of Siege is a place i can help people with the most trivial of things, like making a few tools or something else that on prodo, everyone does for themselves. And the fact that at any moment I'll be going "OOOooOoOOOooo" (loosely translated into "time to make a new suit"). It's a thrill that never gets old and always gives me a rush. The other thing that makes me call Siege home, is the community, it is one of the more unique communities of UO, in my opinion.

Yes people is one of the reason I play too and helping newkommers had been a part of my game all my time on Siege. My guild TDO took in young players in the past.

How is it that you can avoid the script kiddies, the ones that use a program to fight for them? Or do you have that same problem over here.. Atlantic has PvP still, but for the most part its endless script battles, kids with uber gear, using a program to augment there lackluster skills as a pvp tactician..

Don't think it work well vs real players. Siege players do not like scripters and will do their best to keep them as ghosts.

The point of Siege is, it is not for those wishing for a namby pamby version of UO ! :)

I came here when I felt the stupidest thing put in the game was that newfangled thing called INSURANCE !
I still think it is stupid ! :)

We can become pkd here, that is how UO was meant to be !
We can be useful here in that maybe some red chap wants to buy something that the few npcs that bother to sell us whatever won't sell that bit of whatever to someone cuz they be colorfully red, so that affords us bluebies opportunites to help a brother or sister out if they be red, we can develop trust, they hand us checks of gold, wanting us to buy em maybe something npcs won't sell em, cuz they red, and we buy em that spiffy ship or whatever the red maybe needed. Sometimes they think twice bout pkin ya cuz they maybe know you are a trustworthy soul that CAN buy them something reds don't get to buy off npcs or that ye are a sweetheart that when ya see them DEAD even reds get dead, ya maybe res em if rules permit or gate em to chaos or where they can get a res. So some unique weird of Siege is we maybe NEED each other with no trammel, no insurance, no fancy foo foos of reg shards.

Siege offers challenges, as well if ya have that feeling of been there done it in your accts. on reg. shards ya also may try Siege to see if you as a vet can make it HERE or not, so ya give Siege a try too. It grows on ya, ya find folks are helpful, there is community here, and you accept the challenges of ROT and all else cuz you were bored been there done it on all the other reg shards, so ya come here to try something unique called Siege Perilous shard.

And yes it is the last stop out the UO door, for many of us !! Siege Perilous, tis perilous here,
as UO was meant and created to be, pre trammel pre insurance, that is why most of us come and stayed for as long as we did ! :)

Log in, get in general chat, and you'll probably find that folks can help with a lot of things that ya need to get going. You'll probably find all kinds of people that will hook ya up with gear and weapons to get started - and a bunch of other stuff.

Siege is the best shard imo. Where else can a red run the doom guantlet or where ever they wish? Where else can you loot what you kill?

Why do I like this shard? Where to start ?
I have to say I was a trammy. Sitting at the bank board out of my mind. Because I did everything in game there was to do. a friend read on Uhall about Siege needing crafters. And told me about how siege was like in the old days playing. And we started talking about the old days when we killed a GM that just popped in are house. And we thought someone was trying to kill us. So the next day I made Ginsu.

I like this shard for lots of the same reasons everyone does. The people are so much better then the other shards. Your enemy today might be your ally tomorrow. Being Blue, Red, or Orange. . . So live long, and die well, and never let the other players get to you.

Siege is the balance of self reliance within a tight knit community. The Siege community does not rely on massive artifact drops or the best items to be successful. We use supply and demand as intended. Every step must be contemplated on how it will affect our funds, our property and sometimes our lives. Nothing should be taken for granted, yet if we somehow lose funds, property or lives, we will find opportunities presented to recoup what we lose or ways to earn back what is needed from those around us.

There is nothing frivolous about Siege, yet it shines as uniquely as it's ruleset. The point of Siege from my perspective is to allow those from the original world mindset to evolve to include new dungeons and quests, not getting stuck in the pre(anything) rut after so many years without losing the very reason communities within this ruleset exist.
