So (on Siege) I used stealing on a Water Elemental (got 200 gold yea) killed it and then when i went to go through a teleporter i got a message about not being able to use it when fleeing from a craime (or something like that).

Should you get flaged when monster steeling?

You get flagged stealing from crates and barrels - is that really different?

Ive always thought you should only get flagged if caught or seen..I just steal from monsters and chests so it really doesn't matter much just a pain waiting the 2 min to be able to leave!

Did you mean different in function, or different in intent? In function: no. In intent: very much, yes.

When stealing from a crate or barrel, the lifted merchandise ostensibly belongs to one of your friendly neighborhood NPCs; you have just stolen someone's belongings. Thus you should flag as a criminal.

When stealing from a monster, an entity which, when literally murdered by you does not cause you to be considered a criminal, why should you be flagged?
