But ironically enough, my main account was closed last night because my (prepaid) card was declined?
WTF? I don't leave money on it for security reasons, but didnt think with RTB going I would need to renew for 30 days...

One thing I have learned is nothing is FREE, my friend. I don't believe with RTB going anyone should be charged from 9/5/2012 - 10/05/2012, but the reality is that a corporation is not going to lose a fraction of their profit. Although the corporation in question may be hemorrhaging, and continues to do so. This would have been a prime opportunity for the corporation to prove what customer service means to them. In a way I think they have proven what their level of commitment is to the loyal player base.

My main account was unable to accept my CC that it's been using for 2 years without problem a few months back too; in the end I simply went for a 6 month game card from the EA store, which worked out 40% cheaper than even the CC 6 month discount anyway. I shouldn't have had to however...

Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you are trying to say, but it sounds like your prepaid card did not have enough money on it to cover your UO subscription, "WTF? I don't leave money on it for security reasons, but didnt think with RTB going I would need to renew for 30 days...".
Not sure why you would be surprised that a card with insufficient funds would be declined. Also, RTB stands for Return To Britannia, not Staying In Britannia. Current accounts have never been given a free month in any RTB event, and even the name of the event is geared towards Returning players, not Current players.

So, I do not see any big story here excepting you misinterpreting what RTB actually is, and no irony either.

Not sure if your prepaid card has this feature, but I can look up my cards activity online, and I see pending charges for EA days before the charge hits giving me time to ensure money is in the account in sufficient amounts. If you have this feature, it may be of benefit to you and others (I know I like it).

Here is a possible problem with letting your accounts use the RTB. I have an account that I do the 90 day thing on (house holder for extra storage). That account ended Sept 4, RTB started Sept 5. Since RTB accounts may not have houses I just emptied out a Keep onto my other accounts just in case for some reason it goes poof when RTB ends.

Sorry but this is your fault, not EAs. It's meant to be an event to allow former subscribers to login. Nowhere did they suggest they were giving a free month to everyone. Misunderstanding on your behalf.

I guess I just read too much into it. And expected too much of EA. See, I have run a few businesses, making aliving off the buying public. Consider the convenience store...attempting to draw in old customers that have left, and new customers.

Customers approach the counter, each with a large drink in hand. Clerk looks at the first customer.
"you don't usually stop here, do ya? Yours is free, just to try out our customer service and get to know us."
next customer steps up...
"I see yore ass here everyday, that'll be $2.50"

I understand what *return* to Brit means and is...But, you gotta take care of the people that have been here helping you pay the bills from day to day. And the $13 or $14 dollars aint gonna break me, see, to me it just seems off somehow. But this whole thing has been a catastrophe since it was announced...

It might have worked if your account was closed before the event started. Looks like your account was simply too late in getting closed to get started up again with RTB.

My account ran out of time on Sept 4 and reopened on Sept 5 with RTB so his should have done the same thing. RTB is to hit and miss with accounts getting it and not getting it.

He said it closed last night and this thread was opened this morning. Sounds to me like it closed the end of the day RTB started up, the 5th.
