I also noticed each shard is at different stages of the construction, while the slots are not set up yet on Atlantic they are set up on Napa. i wish they would bring in Texas Holdem tables where it seats 12 and the dealer is NPC and draws % from each bet and players can play against each other. May be build houses with multiple floors, low to high tables. I think I'd spend 5x the amount of time in game then lol.
That would explain why I couldnt find it.

I can barely keep a halfway decent balance due to my pixel addiction... I don't need another addiction to drain me wor... err ummm *thinks.. I could win* Yeah, bring it, it's only fairly easily obtainable gold after all
To the best of my knowledge the games referred to in the books are EM run. The permanent, full time, content is the dice games, the cashiers and the drinks girls.
I would be very wary of proper poker game gambling. I know someone went to a freeshard to pvp, got so hooked on the poker games he spent all his time farming gold and then losing it at the tables. pvp went right out the window.

You would think they would have made the casino out of stone and not little tents... one slit on the side with a knife and that 1b check would be gone.
Even when a game pays even (2:1), the odds are less than 50%, so it is technically a gold sink with a uniform rng. I suspect that if you keep playing, you will lose the gold you won, so take what you won and leaveIm loving the casino, i just turned 100k into 10mill in like 30 minutes
This is compleltly the opposite of a gold sink lol, gona give it a day see how many billions i can rack up

No matter what features are added or not added to UO, its up to a player to decide how they want to play UO, some like to craft items, some like to PvM, dungeon crawl, go to events, PvP, some like to vendor their wares, make unique designs with their houses, and YES GOD DARNIT, some like to gamble (not me personally), some collect rare pixels (like me) and its up to the players to decide what they want to do. The more features UO adds to the game, the more reasons a person will choose to play. Lets stop this NANNY STATE mentality, and let people choose from themselves what they like to do in UO. There isn't any feature they can add to this game that will ruin this game. UO is a game that players make for themselves. Its the only medieval fantasy (second life) of its kind.

- Betting on Middle, the chance to win is 102/216 ~ 47.2% and the payoff is 2:1, so the average return is 94.4% (on average, you lose ~6 chips if you walk in with 100) (note that AFAICT the chances for Middle on uoguide are incorrect).
- Betting on Outside, the chance to win is 36/216 ~ 16.7% and the payoff is 5:1, so the average return is 83.3% (on average, you lose ~17 chips if you walk in with 100)

Whats to be wary of? He gave up murder (with a virtual weapon) to take up gambling (with virtual gold). Seems like he just changed his pixel addiction thats all.
Fixed, it seems I removed 2 odds for three of a kind two times.
I know the void pool creatures can destroy those bars for good, so if I can convince Cora to give us one of her daemon mongbats, maybe disguise it as a gambler, it could disable the security. But she hasn't accepted my offer yet.

I think your calculations are off. The correct values are here:
The expected value on High / Low is 0.946.
For Middle it's 0.895.
For Outside it's 1.0.

Oops, I messed up. The numbers I gave are not expected return but instead the odds ratio.
For Hi / Low the odds are 105:111, for an expected value of 0.972, for middle the odds are 102:114 for an EV of 0.944. You are right about those.
But Sir_Bolo's calculation of 83.3% for Outside is incorrect. Remember that when you win, you win back the chip you bet as well as the 5:1 payout, so the value I gave in my last post is actually correct.
Isn't expected value of net winnings determined as (Chance of Winning) * (Amount Won) + (Chance of Losing) * (Amount Lost)? If so, then aren't the expected values of net winnings the following:
High: 105/216 * 1 + 111/216 * (-1) = -0.02778 (In the long run, expect to lose that many gold pieces for each gold piece wagered)
Middle: 102/216 * 1 + 114/216 * (-1) = -0.05556
Low: 105/216 * 1 + 111/216 * (-1) = -0.02778
Outside: 36/216 * 5 + 180/216 * (-1) = 0 (In the long run, expect to break even)
