I think we need a thread for strategy in there.
First off, don't train your pet all the way to 15 before you go down. Get to around 7 - 10, depending on your healing abilities, then conscript, it will gain faster off the creatures in the lower level to finish it off.
I didn't include stategy in the guide because I didn't think I had a good enough understanding of how to use it, but toggle between defense and offense to keep your pet out of trouble. I ran around with mine in defense, only switching to offense when I had a target for it to fight. I never quite worked out how to use the leash settings and kept mine on short.
anchor I only used once. I anchored it to a cauldron that was part of the scenery while I lured just one mob to it. I don't know if you could drop an item to use as an anchor. I've been too tied up with other stuff to get back in there since it went live.

The training to Level 7 and then take it to the war zone really works well. If you want to "farm" hearts and there are not enough people to kill the Lord. This might be even the best way to get a lot. 400 or more hearts just with a single run is no rarity.

If you have a no discorder in your group, i can only recommend a Phantom/Satyr in your group as a pet.
If there many people in the dungeon that going for the Lord it might be good to train a pet with range ability. The Obhidian/Pixie(Mages) or Skeletrex/Centaur.(Archers) Warning! : The archers are very hard to train at low levels! But this might be just what you need if the Lord is surrounded by Melee fighters.

2 players are the bare minimum for this and even with 2 level 15 pets this can take up to 50 minutes or more. Groups of 4-5 seems to be ideal.

Luck is important! Touch your luck statue before going to despise or event take one with you and click it when you going to fight the Lords.

Tamers might be best use unicorn/nightmares/bears to heal them with bandages . Do bring a lot of them.

Lure, hide and heal my pet is my favorite tactic.

Try just to fight 1 monster at a time , 3-4 can be too much for your pet to handle, especially at lower level.

Only your pet is important, keep healing it! Only at the Lord help other players heal their pet.

Only the pets can damage the Lord, other spells like earthquake and field spells have not much use. Better use that mana for healing. You can attack the Lord wisps with spells.

Experiment with the different type of pets. Some might suit better with the character you take with you .

Mistakes can happen and others can kill your pet by mistake. Not everyone do this on purpose. Don't get upset by it too much and then do the same to them. Things will get out of hand then. Best is not to fight around the gates but go deeper into enemy territory.

Have your wisps orb ready with a macro or in a slot in EC. Its a easy and fast way to toggle between aggressive and defensive mode. When your pet targets a monster on the other side of a wall and don't walk around just quickly turn of the aggressive mode and walk away from that area.

Both Wisps and Lords can give you a arty. Might be better if there many people attacking the lord that you try to kill his wisps, they die a lot faster too and he keeps summoning them until he dies.

I think that sometimes you don't get a call of arms for a while (Mostly is every 20 minutes) Its because several people are already fighting a Lord and it already took a lot of damage. It could also mean he was killed and the war zone needs a bit of time to reset.

Most of all have fun and don't get discouraged you don't get a arty right away.

And Frarc's rule number 1 applies to everything in UO : Patience is a Virtue and Perseverance is important! ;)

I never tried the anchor part but its worth to try out.

This anchor part might work well in a small group. The person who lures the monsters anchor his pet to the group that stays at one spot. This will keep the persons pet save with his friends while he bring in monsters for the group to kill. :)

Here is another tip:
You can use summon creature and look for scorpions and giant serpents and let them attack the Lord...they keep him poised and do their part to distract the lord
I was there yesterday with another player and his Phantom, me using a level 15 Mare...took us around 35 Mins to down the Lord..we both had each 4 serpents or scorps helping us and our pets...

Great tips!! Thank you.

I have only been in there once or twice so far and have not been able to answer the call to arms yet. I am having a problem keeping the pet healed with enhanced bandies. I am an archer and use bandies as my main healing method with close wounds as backup. I don't have enough mana to keep a pet healed with just close wounds and cross healing with bandies does not seem to be fast enough to keep it alive as they fail a lot! *frowns* Plus I have to keep myself healed as well of course.

The anchor strategy sounds like it might benefit me. Anyone have any other suggestions for a non-uber warrior? :)

Especially if you go for pets with lower life (archer or mage type) you can get them somewhat trained, before you take control of them. You can take control over any pet. it doesnt have to be lvl 1 at the start. If a 'wild' pet kills yours, it gains power levels as well. If you have good karma and going for an evil karma pet, you can bring in some good karma pets to your selected choice and have it kill them.

My pets seem to get stuck very often. This happens, when an enemy-side animal tries to run away from a fight when it reaches low hp and it fights other attacking animals first. Switching to defensiv and following the low hp pets usually helps. But you have to stand close to it (with your pat able to hit it) when you set your pet back to aggressive and kill the other. Otherwise it might be stuck again. (It needs some practise but it works for me.)

Having someone to discord the boss seems to help a lot. We had no problems to kill the boss with 2 players (and 2 lvl 15 pets) when it was discorded by one of the players. (Might be a bug, course you are not supposed to attack the boss but it helps.)

I have found that at times my pet gets...well...stupid, and just stands there doing nothing, won't follow me even with me running around and even through it.

The solution I found is to toggle the leash a couple of times between long/short, and he then wakes up and follows me.

Summons and pets are limited to those with 1 control slot. I wonder how a pack of frenzys would do there. (I would try an ice worm for poisoning, too, but i dont have one on my actual tamer. Not to mention that training one is really some work ... )

The tactic to summon extra scorpion worked realy good!
And for the first time i trained a skeletrex . I only took him to level 11 but he kept shooting at the Lord while he was surrounded by other pets from a distance.

I found the Forrest Nymph to work really well. level 1-3 was a bit difficult but once you get above 3 they deal alot of damage.

tamer with vet is probably the best way to heal the pet down there. i found it better than a mage.
