Old RTB houses decaying???

The one right by my main house is greatly worn today and last night hadn't even started to decay. So it seems this did kick in all those houses to fall finally.

Edited title since seems I may have been wrong about this, although still standby fact that house next to mine went from normal to GW overnight last night. I do understand that could be totally unrelated to RTB event since we now know it hasn't started ;)

House I placed on Europa during RTB isn't decaying (yet).

So what's the problem with these in the first place? Are they grandfathered?

The thing is, house decay timer is linked to accounts. When those houses were placed the accounts were officially off, so it didn't record the placing. There's no proper record of them.

Well sadly we as players have NO WAY of knowing if a house is placed by WBB or not..... unless you yourself placed it or someone you know. I've talked to Mesanna about this a few times and I wish they would do a one time "check" force all houses to check if they are paid or not..... Because if you have everyone do something in-game to "prove" ownership then you run the risk of folk who are never logging in but always paying losing their homes... Like I know of at least 6 homes in my area where NO ONE is every seen coming or going for years and years.

I also know of one WBB house that I am forever monitoring to see if it ever does decay. I don't want Mesanna to delete it because then I'd have no way of knowing for sure if the issue is "resolved" and like I said if you don't actually know it's a WBB house no one would be able to tell... ever. Not by looking at it. The house is named, it has an "owner" and it's properly placed and all that jazz..... I just happen to know the guy that placed it and I know he did it during the last WBB.... and I know he didn't pay for that account to reopen...... heck for all I know he could have placed one each time he's done WBB ..... who knows.

You make it sound like the server doesn't know about them at all but that's simply not true.

It's only the 90 day from close trigger that doesn't happen because they are already closed. Everything else about the houses is tracked like normal, location, contents, entitlements, co-owners and friends. If you were to reactivate one (or even used a closed account in a past RTB) to place a new house the housing server sure knows about the RTB one well enough to make it start to decay.

So from what you are saying if they did something code wise to tell every house to check 90 day..... say restarted every house on the 90 day timer (Yes I realize this would bork up currently decaying houses.... and ones that will decay in less than 90 days but I think it's worth it to "force" houses placed during WBB to "check)...... So then that would make them all "check" and then the WBB houses would fall am I right???

Because folk who are actually "paying" for their homes correctly would continue to do so thereby bypassing the 90 day thing... and resetting it.

I can't say 100% that the house I'm referring to was from the last RTB, but I have always thought that since it was placed. The reason I posted this is that since I've been watching the house it has always showed normal, even as soon as last night. Then this morning it's showing 'Greatly Worn' so I assumed this was the case. I do apologize if I'm incorrect and got anyone's hopes up. I think only time will tell for sure. :)

Yeah do something to get rid of all these unused houses. :thumbup:

I'd rather have empty land than a bunch of ugly unused houses everywhere. I'd also rather only have 1 neighbor who actually plays the game instead of 4 houses around me that no one ever enters.

So yeah, whatever that craphole on DF looks like is better than it is now.

Pretty much.

Has account been paid in the last 120 days?

Yes=Continue as normal
No=Start Decay

It should take care all of the bugged housing not just return to brit. It's a bit simplistic and probably more complex to fix but lets get real, they have access to all the code and servers. It's not a problem than should have gone on for a decade.

Don't like the sounds of this for a grandfathered account on six months paid at a time, and last paid for 4.01 to 5.99 months ago! But you are right, they need to get some extra income from the RTB and one month paid for 3 loopholes, or give those accounts with continuous payment a big discount.
