[UO Herald] Memorable Moment

[UO News]

To help us celebrate our 15th year anniversary we have come up with a nice piece of art that will be the reward for this writing contest. We will be picking 5 winners from each shard. The players that write the best story about their most memorable moment in UO will be sent a code to redeem for one of these robes.
The rules are as follows:

• Must be between 250 to 500 words
• Deadline September 15th
• Essays will be judged based on originality, content, and how well they capture what is special about the memorable moment they have chosen to describe.
• Winners and their essays will be announced on the Herald
• Codes will be mailed to you by Mesanna by October 6th
• Mail your entries to your shard Event Moderator. If you do not have an EM on your shard, please email your entries to [email protected]

Do you mean 5 winners in total for all shards or 5 winners for every one of the 27 production shards making a total of 135 winners? For the cure event, you actually increased the number of top tier winners based on participation, this is the exact opposite and still not a good idea since you might get 10 great stories on Atlantic while a mere 2 stories from Mugen, yet 5 of the great stories on Atlantic might not make it to be published on UOHerald while both stories from Mugen will be immediately picked. Another issue is that the players might send their fiction to other shard EMs to the lessen the competition.

The rules need to be expanded to clarify how to identify yourself when you e-mail your entry. Do we need to give our real name, account name, character name, what? And who is going to see our identifying information, including our e-mail addresses? And when we send in our entry to an EM, does the memorable moment we're describing need to have taken place on that shard or could it have taken place on any shard? Can we also find out a little more about the robes? Will they be bound in any way to the character or account that uses the e-mailed code, or will they be freely transferable between characters, accounts, shards, etc.?

I think that basing it by shard is silly. Because you can pick different shards to send to, especially if you want to try and game the system and send your story to a less populated shard.

Also, with multiple accounts, it's easy to write up something for each account and submit it across multiple shards.

If they acknowledge the female robes look poorly on the female paperdoll you would think that someone would take the 30 minutes to hour to retool them on the sides so they drape properly. They did it years ago to dresses.
