This story came from an idea I had about explaining what happened to the old spawn and perhaps setting up a new on land spawn zone for them. Its a rough draft but gets the idea across.
"Grrraaaagh." A yawn rumbled forth as a large ogre stretched out beside a small moat in the dungeon Despise. It seemed like sleep was one of the few options left for passing the time. With all the troubles plaguing the land, few adventurers bothered to brave the depths of Despise's walls. The beast picked up a nearby skull and tossed it high in the air, as it began it's descent a loud crackle echoed throughout the cavern. The skull shattered upon the ground as the ogre jumped to his feet. He stood perfectly still as he listened for any sign of what approached. Suddenly what sounded like two human screams resonated within the chamber. Soon two ettins could be seen slowly approaching from a nearby passageway. They were severely injured and could hardly walk. As they came forward, a small group of lizardmen followed behind them. Within moments a small gathering of the dungeon's denizens had assembled, all either injured or frightened. The large ogre made his way thru the crowd towards the passage they all had emerged from. As he came around the corner he quickly jumped back. Various dark creatures were amassing beside a strange red moongate. Silently he made his way back from the passageway. His heart still racing, he attempted to lead the crowd across the cavern to another passageway. He motioned for the group to hold their position as he checked the passageway for more intruders. His heart stood still as he surveyed another large force forming beside a bright blue moongate. These creatures seemed different, many were brightly colored and seemed peaceful in their movements. The ogre returned to the crowd with his head hung low. Sensing the situation, the healthiest of creatures among them surrounded the weak and the young. They prepared to defend their position from all sides as a tense silence filled the air. Footsteps could be heard from both passageways and soon two nearly identical human males appeared in each. One dressed in dark clothing and the other clad in light.
"Evil Beasts! This area is now under the watch of Andros and the forces of Light!" One man spoke as he stepped towards the crowd.
"We have been banished all of two minutes and you are already barking orders brother. Your dedication to "the light" is the reason we were banished to begin with." The other man called out, his dark forces amassing behind him.
"Our fate is placed squarely on your head! You and your dark magic!" Andros of the light shouted as his forces positioned themselves behind him.
The two men stared each other down as the crowd between them slowly parted. Suddenly the men screamed in rage as both armies charged towards each other. Chaos ensued as the forces collided. The large ogre recognized their chance at escape and began leading the crowd towards a seldom used cavern exit. As the last survivor entered the passage before the large ogre, he looked back at the only home he had ever known. His mind couldn't help but ponder, Where will his people go from here?
