Mods, let me know if this is inappropriate, but perhaps this time around we can have a civilized discussion about cheating in general. What gets me is a directly accusation that I must be a cheater, because I won't support a certain invasive solution.
I've fought cheaters -- and lost many times -- since my first week in UO in 1998. Who remembers the Uzi bows, the snooping and multi-stealing from across the screen, the "ghostwalk" before stealth? The one that pissed me off the most was the repeat mana vampire, and next was some bug to make me the aggressor (I was blue, would get attacked by blues, but couldn't give counts). But it was the speedhacking that made me finally give up on PvP several years ago. Viper remembers when our small circle could hold our own against massive numbers, and when we'd get slaughtered by a few untouchables who zipped around.
I'm of the thought that the devs simply won't ban the very detectable cheats. Certainly, there are token efforts from time to time, but when was there anything concrete? What happened to this spreadsheet? Well, every subscription is needed, especially with enough players tolerating the cheating.
