It seems that the scripters have figured out how to do the cures. Kind of funny watching them. Never seen someone click that fast. Ok here is how it is being done.
They are stepping up to the same table, following the same path to get there. Then just placing one of each in a flask , if it requires more than they just use the tongs and step back a square. This is then repeated until it accepts the potion with all 1's. I am going to try and get UO assit to replicate the speed but I doubt I will be able to . So good luck on the turn in.

As with any task requiring repetition, people will naturally look to automate it. People are lazy. Perhaps they need to design more interesting and varied quests?

However in the 150 cures I've made I think I've had one that required all 1s once.

I've been doing this all the time too (manually), just remove ingredients and reset it until you get a 4 or 5 set of 1's.

It's stupidly designed that some cures require 3x as much ingredients as others, and if you don't use this trick, you're going to lose to players that do.

This quest has been poorly designed from the start, first by making it a stupid competition and second the mechanics just screw over the legit players. And no matter if you change it, the scripters are going to win and we can soon buy our nice sleeves for 30-50 bucks each on the RMT sites.

I use Assist, I have 3 macros set up. One uses the beaker and takes one of each ingredient, second one uses the heater, third uses the tongs. I walk to my favorite table, hit macro one, then second, if it is less than 3, I hit macro three. Step away, come back and do it again. If it is a 3 or 4 (only had a couple all 1s), I just double click the beaker and add the ingredients and the other 2 macros to heat and empty. You have to reset the three macros everyday to the new tools on the table. It works a lot faster than what I can click, but I am sitting right here, making my cures.

Sounds like another rattrap like the mace and shield glasses. Just to bad they don't take the trap out of the package and use it to clean up the game. Instead another handy paperweight. Like the frostwood locations. They perchance knew their locations and might have watched them and could of stuffed the cheats into the museum box.

My cure count is zero. Once bitten more then once taught me that getting the sleeves from an IDOC is a greater accomplishment. And to date I'd rather mine then watch a house fall. Once I realize Freecell fills my time just as well as mining I will have more beer money.

I been doing this trick with UOassist since I heard about this quest ( 3 days ago ) and guess what i am now at 100 cures made already in 3 days, so who say they cant compete with the scriptors look at this i got all my mats manually i just use 3 UOassist maccros to get cures done and 100 cure in 3 days. If only i knew this quest started at beginning july i would have 1000 cures ???

so poorly thought out this event was. i give kudos to those who are playing in the right way however i feel your valiant efforts will go unrewarded. what a horror show.

i played in a guild once with a kid who would spend hours fooling around with the game mechanics to see how he could square root around a quest or event. he had a little guy on a rail who would walk the lost lands and spam in guild chat what was going on at each spawn. it even told you the type of spawn and how many candles. Once the dev's wake up that there is this type of character in the game environment maybe they will figure out to put out an event that is fair and fun to all.

Can you tell me where to get vanilla and sugar? Been farming paragons at the arachnid spawn in ish and also with higher fame paragon creatures, but I only get 1-2 of them per hour.

Unfortunately, a scriptor would do what you did, but 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You think you could compete with that? Even assuming that you played 8 hrs a day for those three days, to get your 100 cures, the scriptor you are competing against made 300.

in a week, you might have 200...and the scriptor would have 600 or more...and the longer the quest goes on, and the more you do not play, the greater the difference will be...until the scriptors are so far out in front, your measly thousand of or two of cures nets you....wait for it.....a sash....woot!!

Vanilla seeds come from peculiar seeds obtained by killing Exodus minions and overseers in the exodus dungeon, but since those plants also produce seeds there's a very good chance that a player will provide some, either free or at a price, if you let people know which shard you're on.
Sugar Cane seeds are peculiar seeds gotten from Juka Mages, Kappa or Plague Beasts, but they have to be identified with poppy dust or through a seed box before you can tell them apart from the other peculiar seeds those creatures drop. The plants do not produce seed

Vanilla seeds come from Exodus Minions, sugar seeds come from Kappa (easiest mob to farm). Knowing that, at this late stage, won't help you as you don't have enough time to grow the plants. If you currently have no resources, this event is already over for you. Sorry.

Once the dev's wake up that there is this type of character in the game environment maybe they will figure out to put out an event that is fair and fun to all.

Shakkara , yes I bought around 60 sugar at vendor and I got gave like 40, I looted maybe 30 off paragons. Looks like cures use more sugar than others mats

Ah ok, been buying vanilla for 25k each but it's always sold out on Europa. At the end I'll only have 50-60 cures handed in tops, even after more than a week of farming mats AND growing two raised garden beds full of the stuff. Was too late with planting so will only get half the resources from them, as I'll be out of town the last 3 days of the event

A few weeks ago I and a few others farmed kappas. I personally spent the better part of an entire day doing it and I got 50 sugar seeds. Those seeds produced 400 sacks of sugar after 17 days. Depending on how one does the quest that is enough sugar for more than 100 cures.

The problem here is not that any particular ingredient is hard to obtain, rather the poorly designed reward system and the obfuscation of the who, what, when, and where the event would take place.

I used to grow and sell hedges so I'd hunt kappas & ant lions all day long every couple of weeks to collect the seeds. Just don't tell anyone we do such things or they'll get us fitted for a hug-me jacket. <g>

WELL.......with a one off event item at stake the scripters wlil be trying to get them all on every shard them sell them at well over 500m each.....seems to be the minuimn price for unique EM Items.....silly as it sounds......[[[.been here.... seen here.....all before...STINKS...]]]..... why do we need unique items...it makes scripters script!!!!

What I find amusing is that across most of the shards (at least the ones I pay attention too) there was a rush on the garden beds a couple of days even before the text file revealed the possible use of sugar.

I have about 600 of each ingredient saved up, trying to decide if i really want to bother doing this or not.

We may be able to stop a few, but the overwhelming evidence is that very little is ever done. Scripters milking the spring cleaning with books being turned in....ban the scripters?...no, turn off books being turned in for points...meanwhile, the scripters with ther tens of millions in points walk away smiling and the average player is left wondering what the hell happened.

The chance to have a cure that requires all single ingredients is 1 in 243, or ~0.4%. If a macro takes 4 seconds to place all 5 ingredients, click on the healer stand, move away and approach the table again; it will take about 16 minutes to finally receive a cure, which makes 89 cures a day if the macro runs the whole day.

So, you could get 150 cures in a week by spending just 150 of each ingredient by using a simple macro for five hours a day (or 100 cures in 3 days if you spend 9 hours a day using a macro). I don't say scripting since you can macro it attended, which does fascinates me: an event which you can use macros to participate.

However, I just started the quest today and I really don't want to spend that much time and I don't like to use macros as well. Furthermore, the only two ingredients that I'm short of are vanilla and sugar while I can spend 3 times more of all the other ingredients since they are pretty easy to gather. So, I'm trying to find cures that require a single vanilla and sugar, regardless of the required amount of the other ingredients, which is much more easier and faster (1 in 9) compared to using a macro.

I have about 800 of each ingredient stored up from the start of this, but I can't get the motivation to actually do the quest- I am just that disenchanted with not only the way this quest is, but the game in general.

Once i did the math and realized that there was no way to see the "score" i stopped doing it. It was simply too easy to wait for a 1/4 or one of the easier ones and just keep turning that in. Clearly something that can easily be scripted (as i mentioned in one of the earlier posts). Seeing the running score would have saved most people the time and trouble of even starting something that would eventually grow stale due to circumstances beyond their control.
