About 2 1/2 years ago, the designers/developers came up with a proposal to make some rather sweeping changes to factions. Shade made this comment in the Factions forum the day those changes were announced (note: the bold emphasis is mine):
New fiction will be coming out soon to give backstory to the change to 3 factions and what kind of “personality” they will have.
I think we are going to give some kind of legacy title to the players who are in the current factions whenever we finally retire them… something like, “True Britannian Loyalist” or “Reputed Shadowlord Worshiper” or whatever. Just to memorialize the old system.
The old system has some stuff in it that is just broke. Like, for example, the faction silver system. We couldn’t put enough stuff to buy in the game to soak up all that silver. We are making some pretty big changes to the way things worked and we felt like it would be easier to swallow if players felt like it was a whole new ball game.
Also, we talked to EMs and some other testers and the general consensus was that we are going to make someone feel singled out if we just hit the D button on one of the factions. If we just make 3 new factions it is more fair.
The good news is… you get to try it today on a TC.
If the devs were thinking back then of some way to let you have a legacy title of some sort while in factions, maybe what you're asking for IS possible. And maybe you're one of those people that post weird requests for the devs "out of the blue" periodically and then, lo and behold, the next publish has something in it to accommodate your request. (It's not that hard to spell your name backwards.)
Hmmm...maybe? The dev team doesn't talk to most of us poor, unwashed players who support the game by religiously paying our subscription fees and who aren't EMs or ex-EA staff, but it's pretty clear they talk to other players and sometimes even use them to float ideas here in UHall to get input or to make it look like they're being responsive to player requests, no matter how obscure those requests are.
Anyway, I'm bored so I thought I'd just throw a little something out there to liven things up. Maybe one of these days you'll get to show both your faction title and some other title too. Something to scare the little factioneers right out of their shoes when they mouse over your character and get to that last line, eh?
