How are folks making gold these days?

Hey all,

I've just freshly returned to the UO scene, and I'm broke. My castle fell along with most all of my goodies, and while my characters have decent equipment, I don't have much else. I'd like to work on getting hold of a house, so I'm looking for some ideas on building my bank in the most effecient way possible (in other words, most gold per hour, regardless of how fun it might be), so that I can power through some gold making until I'm sitting a little better off.

What are your thoughts? Feel free to PM me if you're willing to share but don't really want everyone and their uncle reading your strategy.

For strictly gold loot,farm swoops or grab a dragon slayer spellbook and farm WW's in Ice.

Champ spawns, whether they be in Ilsh or Fel. I start looting gold at level 3, and stop when the ground is clean after the champ dies. Usually bank about 750k/champ if I'm solo.

If you have a T-hunter and a character that can kill Miasma, she has a decent amount of gold, a chance at ML arties and the level 6 maps now days are pretty nice for loot to unravel and essense/mana orbs/forged pardons to sell.

Dark guardians in Doom are quite good for that. Around 750 gold each, plus a level 1 to 3 t-map and some necro reagents that can be sold bulk to alchemists.
If you have a spellcaster and an undead slayer book or the conjurer's grimoire, it's even easier. Drop two EVs to increase the spawn size and toss two or three meteor strikes to kill the 6 of them for decent lucre.

Tomb of the kings is also good for that, if you have an undead slayer. Putrid guardians drop around 1100 gold, tons of necro regs and are pretty frail.
You also get to kill silver serpents, which may drop silver serpent skin and can collect chaga mushrooms while you wait for them to respawn.

I suggest farming imbuing mats in the abyss, nice business. In this context I would set up a crafter with imbuing and craft armor/weapons/complete suits and sell them...

Try playing with the Advanced Search feature on the Hunter's Guide on Stratics ( UO Stratics - Hunter's Guide - Search ). For example, search by location or search by karma level. Might give you some ideas on other monsters to kill.

To me - you need to fight: 1.) Something that you can kill very quickly; 2.) Something that drops good gold (or quickly sell-able loot); and 3.) Something that has a fast respawn rate.

I do very well with the spider nest in the Dreadhorn Dungeon fighting Lisith and Sabrix. They give about 2k gold per kill - very fast respawn rate, and with a spider-slayer spellbook they are usually a one-flamestrike kill. So long as Irk, etc will cooperate and stay across the room, I can do very well there.

Dragon Fairies in the abyss are fairly easy to kill and droop at least 1k per.

Also if you are in a guild or can group hunt any of the champ spawns will drop a few hundred k and pretty much no one picks up gold. Would be yours for the taking. Might want to get a few bags of sending or a beetle though.

have two accounts? make a sammy on one and a whammy on the other. have the sammy gain justice and protect the whammy. do the 1st 2-3 levels of the spawn with the sammy and than bring the whammy in to finish it off. collect 12 scrolls, gold and have a chance at two drops plus double the pinkies. outside of atl and maybe gl most shards are so dead you can spawn at will without being bothered.

To back up what he said, if you are on ATL you will get red ganked at level 3 spawn pretty much everytime.

You can always pop a harrower and have some friends kill it share the scrolls, but request to keep the gold. About 1 mil. Plus you can always sell the scrolls for money. Also, imbuing or reforging is a good business of course the materials for doing the Imbuing is good to.

Well kiddo if you dont have that great a fighter and the above suguestions are out of your league................... (sorry kiddos your ideras are great if he/she is well equiped and knowlagable of the critters) There is a few ways a crafter can make alot in a short order. Any above can atest to the fact a smith can craft shields and sell them to the npcs for decient gold same can be said of scribes on some of the scrolls. oh and Some shards the champs are ok in fel to do... but a good deal ofthe time a lookout is at most and will jump you at the 3rd stage .... same gold just go to ish... grab a few friends and have at it ..... good luck

This totally false........my guldies wait for the champ to be up before we raid. Y work thru the 3rd and fourth level of it when you dont have to...

Try participating to EM Events (Event Moderator's Events...) on your shard but also other shards you may play (check the EM Events forums on Stratics...). EM items are not hard to get and they often sell for tens of millions as rares right after the Event.

To my opinion there is hardly any other hunt that can provide that much in such a short time.
I find it bad for the game, though, and bad for rares also as it just floods the game with way too many rares than collectors can try to collect thus, eventually, working as a deterrent, IMHO, towards wanting to be a collector.

You've actually been given quite a lot of good advice here. NO idea what templates you have but some things have changed:
T-maps, 5k per level, but you'll get more than that off the mobs. Jewels sell well now with imbuing, as does the essences that are in the chest. Upper levels give Pardons, which really sell well. There is always a chance for an SoT or SoA, that sells well (unless ya get that dreaded taste id, etc.) as well as another map of equal or higher value.

Fishing: still bites (pun intended), but the sos loot has been upgraded some. And now the white pearls sell really well, in fact on Legends I quite often have trouble finding them.

Any warrior or mage that can handle low level spawn can do the Ilshenar champs up to level 3 or so. Not much worth looting at those levels, but the SoTs that you will get sell well.

Miasma, yeah not too bad, after the initial onslaught . Gives chests, maps, gold.

If you have a crafter with a skill slot you can use, toss imbuing on him. Or make a gargoyle with imbuing, and get the bonus for being a garg.

BY FAR THE EAISET KNOWN WAY TO MAKE GOLD....Is make a noob char on each shard....and give them the haven 15 minute training to 50 skills......try get in the'' rares click'' by acting all cute , nodding ya head and noob like.........then go to every EM event going...there pretty regular..very other day by th looks of the rares forum...hope to get lucky with a EM drop then sell it for 3-400 millo the same or next day...SORTED...
