I need some idea's.....

Now i want to do something similar for the 15th and i think it deserve something special for that occasion.
I'm thinking to do some screenshots to fit in a part of a song. Like, We are the champions from Queen.
I'm not sure yet.

Do you know a better song to fit in screenshots for the 15th anniversary?

Please let me know what song and why!

It's a bit slower paced, or maybe too sentimental in some ways, but I think is more appropriate for UO for some reason. Lyrics listed in the details.

It just sums up all things... friends who've come and gone... DEV's who've come and gone all the memories of community and battling together...

Definitely don't use any of the garbage pop hits people are churning out. All that does is cheapen your video. I would try looking around online for a decent cover or two of actual UO or Ultima soundtrack. Stays with the theme and will have more emotional resonance than some top 40 piece of crap written a decade or more after the game's release. The song from the classic client login screen from way back would be my suggestion.

See what I mean........ Which brings forth a related issue. People tend to "stay with the classics" and this is why our game is not attracting new age players. Seems to me that old people don't want change, but truth is if we want the game to last a little longer we need to forget about the "classics" and try to appeal to the new generations with content and songs that they relate to.

Maybe get in touch with inRed where all the music on their Serpent's Hold album was in tribute to Ultima Onlne (was released last yr, May '11). Might get some nice original tunes out of them for your 15th anniversary special if you ask nicely

It's not everyone's cup of tea (metalhead) and subject to criticism for their style but I'm pretty sure they like UO and might come up with a (much) toned down version of something to complement your idea.

I'm going to use a text from a song or poem, it don't matter if its classic or metal or pop.
It needs to fit for UO.
Look at the one i did last year. I'm going to make something similar.
I used screenshots from in game but last year i added the text of my own with them.
This year i want to have some text first and then find the right screenshots for it.

I could do this on my own again but i wanted to hear from the UO community what they would like.

I already read and heard some interesting ideas and its not going to make things easier but thats is ok.
It will show that this 1 silly game brings people together with different taste, background and age.

Never heard that song but judging by the name of it, it might be instrumental .......Violines would be my guess

And let them quake in the mass destruction.

But if I wanted to show them the love of UO then I'd stick with what I said about Immortal by Evenescence. But what you might do..... is take a montage of lyrics and put them together with pictures to really do it Justice.

I have to agree with the folk suggesting the songs of old UO. I gotta admit that when I listened to the video that Pinco posted I got all sentimental. That theme is so ingrained from the early days. Maybe start off with that then change over to something that is more recent.

*sigh*... What a weak argument. This project is about the past 15 years of UO. People aren't going to see screenshots of the ancient UO graphics with Lady Gaga in the background and think "wow, this game looks like I can relate to it!" A look back at the last 15 years has very little to do with what's topping the charts or what your personal favorite song is, and trying to shoehorn in the old "old players don't want change" argument into a non related thread just about equates you to a political campaign commercial in the middle of me tryin to watch Workaholics. I'm sure your opinion is well thought out and is no doubt the most important one ever, but this isn't the thread for it. Maybe you can get a cool "future of UO" poll thread going, that's sure to get you the attention you seem to be so desperate for.

As for me being an "old" player, yes I've played since 98. I also solely used the enhanced client and have never once complained about any modernization of UO. If they made this game look like Diablo 3 I would be in heaven. So you're preaching to the choir, way to jump to conclusions, that's always a great way to get your copy/pasted message across.

After a little sleep and reading more of the ideas. I could use parts of different text for this years tribute . Using one text might not be the right way to do. But going with different parts i could show the variety of UO and the players.
