I just logged in to check on things around here.
Is anyone still around?
I ran around for about 30 minutes in game and saw one person who had placed a villa north of minoc and was trying to return after an absence.
I might be selling a couple of castles and a luna house
Hello to anyone still lurking who i used to know
What happened to NEW (the old one)?
i know Freja was part of the old group at one time and am glad she started a replacement i think

Hi there.

Yes, still people around. Shalimar had to attend to RL so Freja started NEW2 to cover for her while she is gone.
Come back and play with us. ;)

I remember you too I think. You should come back. Things do seem a bit slow right now but I think it being summer is a large part of that.

It seems a few of us have recently come back in the past month or so. Myself and CheapSuit included as we are definitely from back in the old days of Siege.

Siege is very very slow.. I am hoping it picks up within the next month. I check all spawns and dungeons several times a day and barely ever find anyone out hunting. If I do, they hide/stealth away or just run. No ones willing to fight and if you can find someone and kill them, they just give up. No one tries to help them out, their guild doesn't care, and neither does the person who died. Its nothing like the old days. I think our guild has the 2 of the only 3 active reds on the server with me being 1 of them. I haven't really seen any other reds on the server who actually go out and fight on a regular basis. Its in a pretty sad state it seems. Even those who talk all the game in the world, just hide in their houses and never go out of the Guard Zone into the field. I thought stirring up a little drama would help, but still seems like it doesn't matter. Everyones such a wuss on this shard these days. I honestly don't think its worth coming back less your really bored and need something to pass time like I do when I am at work and want something that won't hog your PCs performance.

I think you should stay and play on Siege. But if you decide to liquidate and are selling a castle - i am very interested. Feel free to PM me or yell for me in game.

Sorry but I am not a pk'er and I dont belong to any guild or faction. I am a loner.

It may be the summer, people is off for vacation or they are in the pool. Sadly slow periodes like this can people give up playing.
I sure hope all will be back soon :)

Yeah it has been really slow lately but we are still getting new players in and of course it is summer. I think alot of people just really busy and donlt have much time to play. I know in my own guild we have some people with barely any time to play. And I am sure other guilds are probably experiencing similar things. Though I donlt blame people for getting discouraged. Its hard not to especially when just a few monthes ago things were really looking up. But these slow periods have happened throughout Sieges history even when the population was 10 times what it is now. Its just worse now because the population is so small to begin with.

The trick to when it´s a slow period is to hang in there and not get discouraged and leave. Cuz if people don´t hang around Siege will NEVER grow...

This times a thousand. People log in decide to give Siege a try but only a handful stick around for the longhaul. If people stayed through the slow times things would really pick up. Problem is everyone wants to wait till things get better. But things will not get better unless people are willing to go through some growing pains.

If you ask me it was this very board that killed siege. Mods should be picked like jury duty. Just sayin...

Or the game is just on the decline in general, and since Siege always had a lower population than regular shards it makes sense that now a days when all shards are sparsely populated it's extra dead here.

As for the mods ruining the boards and thus somehow the shard, I think that's way off base. Only a ...certain... minority of people have problems with the mods.

Well I love siege and whatever gets people back I'm all for it. I just remember these boards being very active at one point which usually played out on the field.

Agreed. People use to smack talk here, cause drama, then it would be brought onto the field and create more fights. Doesn't work like that anymore though.

Keep in mind, the mods here is not paid for their work and board PvP will keep them very busy. They want to have time to play too and do have a RL too.

I still believe you can start a fight here and end it ingame, you just stay inside the stratic rules. Show respect all the time. If you add a little RP to it, you can get very far here without breaking the rules.

I believe I always had been very vocal here but I had only got something like 2 warnings in all this years and that was on U.Hall

who wants to talk some smack?? *grins and ducks*

seriously tho...Freja's right. If we can carry on our battles with the air of RP we can generate some energy without upseting the mods. Whats killing seige for me is all my stalkers are gone. I can even fight back a little but no one attacks me. No one does rounds to all the farming areas. Damn I am so pretictable its not even funny. Come kill me damnit!! Do I have to start calling names??

I can start looking for you Luka just been busy ehhe. ;) I think the problem is too there is a couple that may check most of the farming areas but it gets very discouraging when the vast majority of the time you donlt find anyone. So they end up checking less often. But like I said I will come find you ;)

me too. And I suck...but I like seige. I like the danger. I don't run stealth unless its needed for a specific quest or spawn. My house is public. And I want to learn to PvP.

I have to agree with most of the comments here. UO's overall population has been on decline for several years now. In fact, siege is lively compared to most of the production shards (save 3 or 4 of the non-asian). Personally, I do not search farming spots attempting to find prey, as I no longer consider myself a PK and have not for some time. However, I still enjoy logging on and searching for the more enjoyable pvp encounters. Unfortunately, they are so few and far between because of the lack of experience/knowledge/motivation for pvp. On that note, I even enjoy fighting with people who are a different skill level than myself - better or worse. PvPing is a skill that is learned by doing, so fighting against someone better than you are can be educational. After a person gets macros set up and builds a basic platform for fighting mechanics, then he or she can start to focus on the harder parts of pvping. A few examples of the harder parts of pvp: overarching template strategies - backpack and suit management, tactical awareness - which weapons to use and why, burst damage combos, terrain advantages/disadvantages, and what did you learn from your last fight and how can you use this information to improve future encounters?

IMO, the end game of UO has always been PvP, and on siege it is inevitable. If you are a farming type, you would be wise to educate yourself on defensive strategies/tactics to help stymie your agressor. If you are a PK, overcoming your prey's attempts to thwart you is a constantly evolving goal. If you are a PvPer, continuing development of suits and increasing situational awareness should be goals. What am I trying to say? MAKE MACROS, PRACTICE WITH FRIENDS, AND GAIN CONFICENCE IN YOUR ABILITIES! Everyone dies, and on siege we all accept this truth. So go forth and pwn one another.

I am ready to practice now, Righty! Working out my hotkeys and what armor/weapons I like. Figuring out what works on monsters is not always what works with people tho. And...it helps if your gamepad is actually plugged in....

Been sayin this for years. The Siege forum used to be the most active forum on Stratics (outside of UHall). There were lively discussions about all aspects of the game,, not just trash talking PvPers. Then things changed...mods started getting their feeling hurt and shutting down the discussion instead of sitting back and letting the discussion happen...la

Just make a char and enjoy the fun of being a newbie again. Who cares about guards, they are only in towns and at moongates.
For RL $ you can buy a new account and you have your house
You get to 70 in a pair of days, after that's it RoT and you will get your gains without using alot energi or resources.
I just saw a new char finish her skills in one month, so not that bad
