Dare I hope that the MYUO section might return at some point?

Too bad the the "Live Events" page doesn't bother to say anything about...you know...the events...

Putting the fiction somewhere is nice, but it would also be nice to have a basic "Go Here" to start the event content, a list of the "exciting" rewards, etc.

A fansite is a fansite and cannot replace the official website in any shape or form and it shouldn't either. We don't update the The Awakening - UOGuide, the Ultima Online encyclopedia article for ourselves and I'm sure Martyna didn't add The Awakening, Act I: Civil Unrest - Library of Sosaria or EventArcs:The Awakening: Ilshenar - Library of Sosaria for herself either. I do appreciate your efforts and especially the time you put into these, but most of the efforts from the fansites' side is to archive historical material on Ultima Online, not to make up for an out-dated website.

Just look at the playguide that is released in 2000: http://www.uo.com/guide/renaissance.pdf We didn't have such a playguide until recently and this one is still a more in-depth playguide than the one we currently have, even after 12 years. I do know the The Japanese ultimaonline.jp is an up to date website with a great playguide for years. The only thing they don't have at the moment is the temporarily unavailable MyUO.

Ultima Online community is already trying to make up for the negligence of the developers and publisher for their very own game and a dragon image and a thank you message will not compensate the years of negligence. It is time for them to put some effort in. That's what I think.

The Current event should not have a guide on the Herald. How do you want that people discover things then?
Give us a quest and then add at same time give the solution too? Thats very silly if you ask me.
And all the awaking stories have clues where to go too if you read them carefully.

Here's something interesting: If you go to the newly updated "Live Events" page on the site and then click the "Additional Information" link for any particular story, it of course brings up the fiction that was written for that part of the live events. But something I don't remember ever seeing before on these types of pages is a sentence that says, "Click here to send in feedback about this event." If you click the link in that sentence, you're redirected to the Ultima Online Feedback form and the second option you can select for the Subject line is "Quest and Event Feedback."

Kai, if you're reading, would you be able to tell us who "quest and event feedback" goes to and what happens to it?

Never said a guide or walk through, but a "go here to start" might help people who don't want to think too hard. The sifting, for example, was only vaguely mentioned in Act IV. Based on the lackluster participation, someone who didn't know it was coming might not even realize it was a quest/event. Remember, most UO players don't read Stratics.

The same place EC bug reports go, the Junk Mail folder or directly into the trash. :p

You mean something silly like this one? City Loyalty Ratings Explained | Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online :)

or the first section of Publish 76 which explains the The Awakening – Act VI Quest: Publish 76.0 Comes to All Shards - 05/22 | Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online

or Publish 77 which explains the city trade ministers: Publish 77.0 Comes to All Shards 07/11 | Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online

or Awakening Act III ad: The Awakening - Act III Ad | Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online

Are you not now showing everyone that there is some sort of guide from the herald?
Is that in contradictions of what you and Martyna claiming?
Those links you showing are not realy guids in my eyes they just showing the new things that are going to be published.
My idea of a guide is very different of what you think.

I'm very confused right now, first you say there is no guide and then you trying to show there is one. Its either A or B not both at the same time.
Of course you could be one of those people who are always right as long you can twist and turn it your way. :p

most UO players don't read Stratics.

No, that is very true but it would be nice that people help each other and mention it to other people in game about new things. Thats what i do.
After all its a MMO not a single player game.

Now you take it personally (for some strange reason I can't explain) and say I "can be" one of those guys who twist and turn things his way. You are not saying I am, you are "just sayin'" I "can be". :)

I never said there is no guide Frarc, that's why you are confused, I even mentioned the new playguide. The links I posted above are released in the past and buried deep under piles of messages which should be on their very own section in the first place. I think the same way, the information from the posts from the developers (like this one) should be available on the official website too. The new playguide should also be in classic html form with a navigation menu on the left and with higher resolution screenshots.

I knew these links existed since I follow the new information regularly, but a new or a returning player have to check a fan-site to at least learn that there is actually a global event. This is why it is important for them to update the events section (that's why I especially wanted to announce it here) and a link with a dragon image on the main page surely helps, but the section should include more things than the written fiction.

As I said before, I really appreciate what you do, but I don't want your (and others') efforts to be an excuse for:

UO has a thriving community on Stratic’s and other support sites such as UOForums, and rather than compete with it, we’d rather support it.
, content-wise. They shouldn't think "stratics and uoguide already have decent articles for the current event, let's support them by doing nothing, not even mention their respective pages on the official website". The main reason I think this way is because when dedicated players like yourself have to take a break, we don't see another player pick up from where they have left off. We just see unfinished or out-dated pages on fan sites this time and together with the current state of the official website, makes new and returning players think that the game is in a very bad condition.

On a larger scale, I don't want them to treat Petra as a volunteer community manager, we're quite lucky to even have her but she doesn't have to work harder to make up for the negligence of the community managers and coordinators. Or Storm and Pinco as enhanced client QA testers, or Fracr as the community reporter like the one in ultimaonline.jp who travels from shard to shard and share the player run events on the official Japanese website. I know these dedicated players love the game so much that they don't mind the time and the effort they spent for the community at the expense of their daily life, but they can only increase the value of the game in the eyes of the new players if they are supported by the community managers and coordinators. To make the matters worse, they are players just like us and can be discouraged or frustrated by the lack of interest too, like Pinco.

This is what I meant by saying it is time for them to put some effort in. Here I twisted and turned this my way by sharing what I actually believe but I don't care if I'm right, I just hope I'm not. :)

A new playguide would be usefull yes. :)

I just don't want to see a guide for everything new thats been added to the game. Otherwise there would be no "work" for people like me and Martyna to write about. :)

I will find out. I wasn't aware of that feedback channel until we re-activated the page to get all the stories into one place.

As for the event guides: I think that small hints are better than detailed explanations, because I prefer to discover stuff on my own. But that might just be me. :)

Can you also fix the start and the end dates (all of the event quests are still active) and add those small hints and explanations you have posted before to the "Additional Information" section?

Why do I have to teach the rest of the lazy yahoos how the (&)*&)& to play their own game??????

In my opinion if the lazy yutzes really gave a toot about the game they would know WTF is going on.... and if they don't then... OH WELL..... Snooze you lose...

I used to do that sort of crap all the time.... constantly updating and saying the same crap over and over and over again telling everyone in the guild what's going on what's coming up and what the patch was for ..... all that crap.... but after a long while of doing that I finally said you know what you all can find out the same friggin way I do... READ it for YOURSELF. I'm not your mommy and I'm not playing your character and I'm not playing this game for you I'm playing it for me...

Now... if the website were remotely helpful I'd send folk to it.... but since we all know it's totally borked and almost useless I send folk here to Stratics. And if they are too lazy to find it I send them a link but I'm not going to read it for them.

As for the event guides: I think that small hints are better than detailed explanations, because I prefer to discover stuff on my own. But that might just be me. :)
Here's why I think having detailed explanations before-hand would be much better for this event cycle:

We discovered that it takes arresting 500 angry rioters to get to the loyalty rating Venerated. We worked hard to achieve that loyalty rating without even knowing what it is used for. Mesanna told us that we are getting loyalty for a purpose which will be revealed at a later date, so we kept arresting rioters. Petra discovered that even accidentally killing one of the rioters cost you multiple times of arresting rioters. Some of us were playing evil characters and decided to kill the rioters and since the system was acknowledging the evil actions, we thought negative loyalty rating will be used on somewhere too, which we discovered that it won't. Then we discovered that Venerated is not actually required to get a city banner and we also discovered that our loyalty ratings rapidly decay. When we ultimately gave up maintaining our loyalty rating and let it decay, we're told that logging in once a day will solve the decay issues.

If you'd have wasted your gaming time on these poor game design issues, you'd have wanted detailed explanations too and City Loyalty Ratings Explained should have been released weeks before we start to discover these things. One positive note is that we have two books explaining what to do in Act VI, as well as how the the system works in the publish notes, so I guess whoever designed the previous acts finally understood that some kind of explanation should be provided beforehand for this particular event cycle. I don't think we need guides on every event, I didn't need any explanations during the In the Shadow of Virtue event cycle and unlike this one, it was actually fun.

I'm just sharing my frustration on this event cycle, I know you can't do much about the fact that it is poorly designed from the beginning (and hopefully getting fixed) but I hope you add those additional information to the website so that others at least know what they are getting into, especially for the first few Acts. :)
