Mythic's Jeff Skaliski who was made the Ultima Franchise Producer had on June 26th tweeted "A virtues quest has begun" and then starting from July 4th has been tweeting each day every last one of the 8 Britannian Virtues at about one per day. Starting with Justice, followed by Honesty, Sacrifice, Humility, Honor, Compassion followed by the hastag #Ultimaforever,then yesterday the official EA/Bioware Ultima Forever twitter tweeted "Virtues things are happening today" so yeah it's the much rumored new Ultima."

I could ask you the same thing. Ultima Forever is well known for those paying attention. The timing may not have been known, but the knowledge that there was a game has been. Paul Barnett kept teasing people for well over a year about it, and Jeff Skalski has been teasing about it since at least January, and probably earlier.

And for those asking, no, it's not UO. When Barnett started Twittering about it last year, and started giving talks that hinted at it, it was clear it was going not going to be anything like UO. Barnett seems to be taking some pages from Richard Garriott.

To REALLY throw some speculative spanners into the works, wouldn't it be awesome if it indeed turns out to be based on Ultima 4 after all (which seems to be the only game in the single player series EA/Mythic has full rights too?) and that it linked in some concrete way with Ultima Online? You know, like having an active Ultima Online account removed some of the f2p limitations there, thus helping drive traffic to us here? That it's another shard of Mondain's shattered gem too, one we can't directly access but can peer over our avatar's shoulder there and give them a little helping hand maybe? SHAMELESS SPECULATION!
