Lucy examined the contents of the crate where the deli's baked goods were stored. What she found startled her. "What is THIS, Icky?!" she asked, holding out a tray of cookies. "I didn't make these, and they certainly aren't yours."

"Ohs... I founded dose, Miz Lucy. Dey wer in da mails box."

"Thank goodness you didn't eat them!" said Lucy.

"Whys?" asked Icky.

"Did you see how they are engraved?" Lucy frowned.

"Mees canst reeds, Miz Lucy. Yoos noes dat," replied Icky, looking confused.

Lucy nodded. "Be glad you didn't sample them, Icky. The engraving says 'Little Goblins'."

Icky's face turned pale. "Yoos meens... noes... NOOOES!" Icky gagged.

"I'm throwing these out," said Lucy. "And what is THIS?"

Icky peered into the crate and saw the dead plant that had been delivered with the cookies. "Mees mentz ta trows dat outz," said Icky. "Pour ded plantz." She started to cry.

Lucy threw the cookies and the dead plant into the trash can. "Let me check the mailbox from now on," she said.

Icky nodded and wiped a tear from her eye, still thinking of the dead plant and the poor little goblins that may have been a main ingredient in some wicked person's cookie recipe.

"It might not be directed at you at all, Icky. Maybe someone is trying to get under my skin and knows that if you're upset, I will be, too." Lucy patted Icky's hand. "I'll ask Ozog to be on the watch for strangers lurking around the deli. You'll be fine while I'm away."

"I'm going back to Yew to look for Luann. I miss her, Icky. I'd like to find her and bring her home to stay."

Lucy peeked behind Icky's back. "Your fingers are crossed," she observed.

"Nots onz perpose!" said Icky, quickly uncrossing her fingers. "Mees noes lookie en mails box," she said, fidgeting and glancing down at her toes.
