then why arent people using it 5 poeple(according to the house sign) in the last 3 weeks if its gonna continue to be unused i dont see the point. i moved out of my house so people could take advantage and use it. i dont see it being used

but to answer it was designed for public access not as a live in house there is a difference
I want and like it (and I am one of the 5 guys who used it). But a tele tile on the Umbra Hub would make it mch more popular than your Vendor House in New Magincia....but since you want ppl to go there too, give it some more time!

lol What did you think that mini event was about that you showed up for? It was the I4NI opening of Abyss house! I thought ya showed up because you seen the post there on Stratics. Or in game invites, lol but we always added that it was the public opening for Sprago's Abyss house.I for one did not know it was public.. but will use it... tks

Well lets let people know there is a public teleporter from yew gate to new Mag and from new mag teleport right 2 tiles is one of the abyss house and to the left 2 tiles is the other abyss house (so leaving from yew moongate about 10 tiles you could be at either abyss house) cant get much easier then that

Did he say 5 people? How many did he honestly expect..? I talk to people at the current big gaming store and they say they've never heard of UO. The largest killer of UO is the ones owning it and thier lack of even the simplist promotion.

i remember going to your new mag house when you announced it . i also remember the link was not yet active . after that i didnt hear any more about it . since then ive been somewhat distracted by other things going on so i must say yeah i havent used it .

I don't think most of you understand Sprago's question! While thanks, and will use are nice...., he is looking for more specific answer. Cuttiing through all explantions of this and that. His delemma is this. He opened his Abyss house to better the public (amount of time was undecided as he posted). Now there are a couple I4NI members that would like it to go back to I4NI. He is now deciding what to do, make 5 non guilded people happier or his guild happier? Sprago was /is not after pats on the back, or high praise from you. He simply wanted to know if you the public will actually avail yourselves to the his Abyss house? If you do the numbers will show up on the in the house sign!

I may have been out of line for posting that, I dunno, sometimes I see things on these boards that get me into a fighty mood. But once it's posted it's out there.
I've not been down there lately, so I don't remember the design very well, but it is kinda possible to have it both ways. If the house is public, and the teleporters at the front, on a veranda maybe - then the rest of the house, and access to it, can be private. - set to 'friends'
It's the way I have my Zento house. The garden is public, with access to the teleporter to the hub, but the fishing shack and shop are private.

I am somewhat insulted by that question! No guild can 100% garantee every ronin or even ever member. That being said, I4NI has a several good ole souls and yes they are considerd trust worthy in this game. So yes I trust the house sign. If we encounter untrustworthy people in guild , they are sent on thier way.
LOL thanks for the clarification. All is good. I didn't even think house sign would be off. There no npc's roaming around down there. Most things work them selves out, all is needed is a bit of time.
Maybe you could try putting up a bulletin board at the Abyss house and ask that non-guild members who are using the house post something on the bulletin board once in a while (maybe once a week?) just to give you an idea whether it's actually being used. Also, if anyone who signed the board causes a problem later on, you can always use their post to ban them without having to make the house private for everyone else.
I think the boards only hold 50 messages before new messages start pushing off the old ones, so you might have to put up a new sign periodically if the house is getting heavy use and you want to keep the old messages (I still have an old board that a certain someone once signed if I ever have need to ban him from a house I make public).
I understand people may not want to advertise that they're using the house, but maybe you could consider signing the board once in a while a trade-off for even getting to use the house?

no, no, what I couldn't beleive was that folks are not taking advantage of it. I got no problem with what you said or if its decided to go back to being prvate. But I will use it happily while its not.
And yeah before my orcy encounter yesterday I had not advertised that I was using it because I am still raising skills, and I don't have hotkeys or pinco set up yet. There is a board up on the porch but looks like its set for maybe guild only.
Also do not forget, some folks may have only 1 of several of their accts. SA'd. Even my own 4 accts. only 1 of 4 can even go to the Abyss homes, or SA lands.
As for house sign counts, yeh they can be highly inaccurate. If one owns a house near npcs right up along some city wall like Zento, even they get counted on visitors on ye house count. I swear sometimes the house signs even count the local sheep if they step on ye porch. So do not go by house sign counts.
And sometimes the sign doesnt even count some REAL people either.
If for example someone comes to ye home via a teleporter tile, but exits, from the tele tile to go right off the steps,
the tele tile is not adding them to the house count UNLESS the visitor steps on the 'patio porch' itself.
If they just used the tele tile and went OFF the front steps, without steppin on the front patio/porch area itself ,
they often are not counted on the visitors count listing. I seen that happen a lot, even at my homes.
Set up ye house public private so that your I4NI have their privater place and those using the tele tiles have the more public patio porch area, making both needs, applicable.

this is what i mean instead of posting this come down and use it YOU WOULD SEE ITS SET UP EXACTLY LIKE THAT
but it dont matter anymore i notice everyone made a quick rush with alt characters to jump that number up so now it cant even be an accurate counter. which again not what i wanted i just wanted to know if it is truely gonna be used or not?

Well now if EA had shut down the 4th acct. that *should* have timed out
while I was up visiting grandkids, and shut down only that acct. instead like it should have,
with the main 3 oldest accts. that were NOT to expire at all till [mid July],
been kept active like they shoulda...I mighta been able to come on over there and check it out myself.
BUT ALAS, I log in on all 4 of my active accts. yesterday and one of the main 3 which
are NOT supposed to become shut down
for 2.5 to 3 wks. + yet, GOT SHUT DOWN !
Go figure !! I have Queen Zen here shut down prematurely stuck in the middle of nowhere where I left her before my trip,
although I did manage to get 1 *dead sleepin hamster* on my Joesef here, on Siege in Luna, earlier.
Wrong acct. of my 4, with 1 so far terminated, quite ahead of schedule. meh bleh !

I wish ye luck though Sprago, tis good to have more than one public house, for folks to get to use, in the Abyss here on Siege.
Its not being used becuase...theres no access for ppl other then guildies
I think its great that you opened it to the public. I know your not looking for praise, but its there anyway.
