Yes, I shouldn't have, but I bought the Captain's Bundle from the UO store. Unfortunately, the Pilot's Wheel add-on that came with it cannot be placed (nor can any other house add-on I've tried). Cannons place ok, but nothing else. Since I didn't get a GM response in game this time, I thought I'd ask here if anyone else has had this problem.

Note: When you try to place the add-on, you get the message that it can only be placed in a house you own.

And no, none of us are really sure why we would want to know the sextant coordinates of our houses -- particularly given that information is in the house sign -- but... them's the breaks.

Actually, it isn't. have a look :) . The folk submitting their 10 year old houses are using sextants or automap etc to get the locations.

It's still pretty weird to have a pilot's wheel in a house. Might be an old discussion but still a strange situation.

Not necessarily, old mariners have been known to have all kinds of ship's paraphernalia in their homes as a reminder of their years at sea :D

Hmm... maybe it just shows it during transfer then...

Still... I think the expectation of the item (by players) was something "useful" for the deck of a boat. I know it's the same functionality as a sextant, but you know, it would somehow be cooler on a boat. As a sextant, it really serves no purpose if it sits in a stationary location.

Okay, so the pilot wheel goes inside a house? Guess I can live with that. But that doesn't explain why I couldn't place a small forge or any other add-on on the two pads provided on the ship for just that purpose. I'll try again today... and hope a GM is on call somewhere if it's still buggy.

Small forge, anvil.... message is: "You can only place this in a house that you own!"

Waiting for GM *crosses fingers*

GM showed up. I explained the problem. He reply was that if the game says I can't place the item, then I can't place the item. He can't do anything about it.

Tip to anyone considering it: Don't waste your money on a Captain's Bundle at the UO store.

This has been a bug for at least 2 weeks. A group I was with last week ran into this when trying to place a small forge on a Britannian ship. Not even the captain could place it.

As for the Captain's Wheel not being placeable on ships probably stems from the fact it only has two facings, far less than the facings a boat has. Simple fix would be for Grimm to remedy that with less than an hours work.

I was beginning to wonder if it was just me. Maybe if others are having the same problem they'll find time to fix it. Hope so. And I think they either need to allow the pilot's wheel to be placed on board ship or, at the very least, change the wording in the description of the Captain's Bundle, making it clear that it can only be placed in a house. The current description is rather misleading (just my opinion).

I have an old mariner's Daughter here that does that, as a reminder of her dad. (deceased boat capt.)
