Lucy stopped in Luna long enough to collect some fuses and explosives she had stored in her bank box, unbeknownst to the bank employees. They were less than vigilant, she had long ago discovered.
The remaining leg of the journey was relatively uneventful. After a short search, Lucy found her ship still intact, although the paint had begun to chip and fade during her absence and it stunk to high heaven. As night fell, she set sail for a small group of islands north of pirate waters, and dumped the decomposed fish overboard along the way.
Upon reaching the islands, she lowered the ships anchor and launched her rowboat, steering it toward the closest spot of land. It didn’t take long to explore the area after she disembarked. There were a few well-constructed buildings, and from the names on the house signs she realized she had found Pitmuck Island, the home of a very unusual band of goblins. “Better goblins than pirates for neighbors,” she said under her breath, while examining the ingenious structures that filled their playground.
Wandering further, she came upon an area of empty land apparently untouched by any builder’s shovel. Lucy suddenly knew what she wanted to do. She would settle here, far from the chaos and violence she had so recently vowed to turn her back on. This was a peaceful place where a penitent like herself could begin anew, and, in time, possibly even atone for the wrongs of the past.
