I've read the Mythbusting thread, but I'm confused. If I have a skill thats 70.0 I can only gain .1 every 5 minutes, to a limit of 5.0 correct ? That's grand total for the day right, not per skill ? So If i have 3 skills at 70 I could feasibly raise them 2/2/1 yes ?

About RoT... Ignore everything about point caps. You can gain as many points as you have time and patience for. The time aspects are still there. Turn all yer skills up! You will never run out of gains.

I think they need to adjust the ROT so it isn't so long. It may have been needed back when the shards were full but I think it is counter productive now.

It really isn't that bad for most skills. Mix in an alacrity scroll and you're getting 0.5 every gain instead of just 0.1 gain.

Sucks for some skills like melee but otherwise its pretty relaxed way of working skills.

Just my 2cents.

If you have the money or a way to get the scrolls its not so bad, but for newer players it still kinda sucks. Most of my skills are in the 80's so its only .1 per 8 minutes :(

With the shard population so low, what is the point to it anymore? I know it use to be so people couldn't just come over and make a character in a couple of days but that is not the case anymore.

even with scrolls melee is horiffic to train.

I like this system and I'd hate to see it change to prodo shards. Call me crazy but that would take a big chunk of siege away.

Doesn't have to change to what the regular shards are but it would be nice if they could lower the time. It takes quite a while for a newer player to be able to do stuff on the shard. I still play in the non-populated areas because my characters are easy kills. My archer is at 91 so he is only gaining .1 every 12 minutes. Its only .5 an hour so just to get to gm its 18 hours of game play. I am just saying that since the population is low, it would be nice for them to lower the time limits of the ROT to maybe encourage more people to play. I am bored of taking him to the same places, I would like to take on other content and be able to defend myself when attacked by a PK instead of knowing that once attacked, its a guaranteed death robe count to add to my growing set. My crafter is in the 80's and my fisher is in the 80's. None can really do much so I find myself watching tv and setting a timer to get my gain as opposed to actually playing. I know some are gung-ho and have many hours per day to play so it doesn't affect them as much but I do not have that luxury. I enjoy Siege but the wait time is killing me. :(

and 120 is another 50 hours from that (assuming you time it perfectly) from there (.4 a hour for 20.0 points)..or with alacs about 17 hours of gameplay. (youd also need approx 10 alacs to lower it that much, since combat alacs you can't simply log out due to combat timer) Training casting skills and crafting skills is really fast and easy, way easier than on prodo....but melee/ranged combat skills is probably THE most unholy grind i'd ever come across in UO..120'ing a combat skill on siege is a easy 100+ hour of gametime investment.....and for frame of reference in 100 hours of game time I could BEAT baldur's gate 1 & 2 and still have time to finish Morrowind.

TBH i'm still not 120 skill on most of my initial skills (my archery just hit i think around 118), ate the 120 scrolls years ago but i just don't have the kind of hours to put in to do it....I gave up and started using +skill jewlery just so i could actually play..and i've been here since 09!

I honestly don't think ROT works as intended...for mages and crafters it makes siege basicly the "easy" shard....and that can't be right...but for dexxers it's terrible...while there's many reasons you don't really see many dexxers on siege how unbelievably time consuming it is to train one is definitely part of it (and unlike old UO...there's really nothing to do at lower skill levels....so it's literally a boring grind of waiting for a timer until you're at least over 90 skill (anything lower than that and you can't even hit lizardmen often enough for it to be worth it...at least at 90 you could do some "low level" stuff like gather leather....)

Oh wow, I was getting all excited with my skill gains, now I'm kinda bummed. I'm only making a crafter of sorts right now so I"m gonna keep at that for as long as it takes. Then, maybe , I'll think about some type of "offensive" skills. I haven't purchased any soulstones yet but hopefully will soon.

Well I guess it's doesn't really matter how we feel. Unless the current producer has had a change of heart and is happy to devote time and money, we're pretty much stuck with it.

I think he blocked me on twitter so someone else can try lol
