Alternatives to Pub 76 Artifacts

I think many of us were underwhelmed with the artifacts currently in the new Covetous. I'd like to offer some alternatives and I'd like to see other ideas tossed out. I think our goal should be to add artifact diversity and actually offer items that people will use. I'm not going to propose artifact names as those don't really matter but concentrate on the item properties and intensities. So here it goes:

Also with Cora I think this is a good time to bring back the Conjurer's items as replicas with 150/150 durability. They fit the theme:
- Conjurer's Garb [Replica]
- Conjurer's Trinket [Replica]
- Conjurer's Grimoire [Replica]


Ok those are just some suggestions. I think I could find a use for all of them. Please throw out your suggestions. Include the base item type, properties, the purpose you see the item fitting and if it is usable/alterable by a garg. Let's give the devs good options so we get Covetous artifacts we will use.

A fencing arti that doesn't have Hit Poison Area on it. Boy does every developer love putting it on them.

More fey slayers. Pixie swatter sucks and not everyone has swords skill to use that one katana.

More weapons with Blood Drinker. Right now it exists on exactly one whole weapon in the game, one nobody uses.

Break down and put Mana Leech on something or accept that your new arti weapons are all going into the trash for cleanup points.

Oh yeah, and some armor sets with set bonuses and everything that aren't A) horribly rare and B) crappy to boot.

Agree with obsidian. The shadow and ranger cloak should also come back as replicas. I have no problem with gold but many dont have the 30 mil to spend on a garb and 25 mil to spend on a cloak for a char. make things accesible to player who work for them. I do like the diversity an artie list like tha twould make

I don't have the time to think about mods right now but I would like to see a few different boots, cloaks(or better yet other old school clothing), talismans and aprons(or other similar slots). Simple mods like FCR, HPI, Stam, Mana for the clothing and other mods for the talismans and apron slots.

Disagree with OP....

I don't want to see items more powerful than what peerless & Champions drop or Doom drops. I wish this entire dungeon revamp with the crazy mods on items was never introduced. It was not well thought out about the repercussions and the effects it would have on the game. The whole thing was and is a huge mistake imnsho.

Thus far the most sought after and hard to get artifacts have been trumped by the items dropping in shame which is a shame in my opinion...pun intended. Never should have been allowed in to begin with yet we have people clamoring for more "uber" powerful weapons to be placed in their fingertips.

I don't mind a revamp of the Dungeons but there are many things that can be added to get people's interest besides over powered weapons that were introduced with Shame i.e. the legendary artifacts and greater artifacts. Ridiculous the mods on some of those items and makes doing Peerless and other champion spawns a joke because the drops from those pale in comparison.

A new peerless or Champion spawn based on Harbinger as the boss that can drop a garb replica might be a good idea and add some fun giving player's a crack at a replica garb or trinket.

just remember that all the new arties are "Ephemeral" that literally means: "it last one day", so all those items should be really good or there is no meaning in wasting points to take them... especially when you cannot even use them for a collection.

Maybe i didn't see it, but were these 5 new items shown/listed?

I'm happy you looked at that, because seeing all of the doom artifacts with an added property and new name was disappointing...in fact.... it almost felt like an insult to our intelligence lol. I could see adding these to doom and saying, hey we buffed the doom arties, but sheesh.

Sticking FC 1 on Armor is just a bad idea.
Sticking Poisoning skill on ANYTHING is a bad idea.
1 Handed Mage Weapon with a -10 penalty and NO FC penalty, max SDI and Hit spell. Forget it.

The rest are fine though it just looks like turning every weapon into a PvM slayer for a sampire.

3:1 3 verite gives 1 valorite is alot when you only get so many uses from it...

I still dont see what use a 4 houre forge is...since theres the fire beetle..unles you plan to craft and can use it to repair in the feild...
What about tailor , tinker and fletcher field repair station also?
Call it Portable crafters nook station..

The info on the items are not showing up when you hover over them on npc reward selection also..

That's a good question. I was just assuming that it let you repair your armor in those out-of-the-way dungeons, like Doom. Otherwise, I don't see the purpose.

My only request would be to add artifacts for items that we can't just make with reforging and imbuing. So artifact half aprons, sashes, talismans, cloaks and robes would be ideal for one or two of your additions. If you are going to add a weapon or an armor piece, it should have a property with an intensity better than we can get with reforging or it needs a property that normally isn't on a suit/weapon. An example would be SDI, FC, FCR, HLA or HLD on a piece of armor. Thanks for listening to our feedback!

Fire beetle working in ghost form was great for combat miners. Now can set up a forge by the new earth eli and swing away with my earth slayer imbued Bone Crusher. Not that dismount is an issue. A field anvil for smelting all that junk metal been helpful. Breaking down bone armor for bone is way overdue.

Don't need to come up with new armor and weapons. Just need random weapon/armor of human/elf/gargoyle only. 501 to 600 points cap with possible 6 or 7 mod also. Hell even as another bonus RNG chance 255 durability cap on drop. The addition of a clean piece of armor or weapon that has one mod not on the imbue list. Clean shield with 10-20 arms lore or parry skill on it. Random clean weapon with Fey Slayer. Clean human/elf/gargoyle only leather gloves with +5 Mining and 140 luck. Random clean two-handed weapon with 10-20 bushido with 10 - 20 skill being 75 - 125 imbue value. The random chance 15 magery on a wizard hat with 530 point cap and 6 mod capability, 255 durability would be worth what?

Later on add in the imbuing of looted casting books.

No, not a dispensing machine, as I will do the PvM adventuring to earn them slowly over time. I just want any new artifacts to be worthwhile and something players would actually use in their suits.

Uhhh, people use all different items in their suits. People that cannot afford a certain high-level item quite often will use one of the artifacts you are complaining about.

But you already knew that?

Thats not enough though as in your own words you want new high level artifacts for all slots("aprons,sashes,tallys,cloaks,robes") Thats just plain short-sighted and greedy IMO

I don't think so, it's a forge, not a forge and anvil. Anvil is needed for repairs. Will help with dungeon mining though, no need to worry about your firebeetle getting killed.

I don't think so, it's a forge, not a forge and anvil. Anvil is needed for repairs. Will help with dungeon mining though, no need to worry about your firebeetle getting killed.

We read your feedback on the artifacts that were originally added to Covetous, and thank you. So with that being said all artifacts listed in the patch notes are being removed. We sat down as a team and came up with 5 items that we feel deserve to be called an artifact without giving anyone a I WIN button =).

Uhhh, people use all different items in their suits. People that cannot afford a certain high-level item quite often will use one of the artifacts you are complaining about.

But you already knew that?

Thats not enough though as in your own words you want new high level artifacts for all slots("aprons,sashes,tallys,cloaks,robes") Thats just plain short-sighted and greedy IMO

Is there some crutch that you are attempting to protect? Lately all I have read from you is ways to stop people cheaply and effectlivly competing in nearly all aspects of the game. Don't allow the pleebs to have this and candy machines.....what gives?

This all said I would like to add my worries about a mod like FC to armor. 1 FCR on a slot like boots would be powerful enough but not so that it would slide the scale of suit making. I'd love to see pants, jester coats and stuff like we had 5+ years back but the worry I'd have is people would still just cover it up with a garb so it might become over powering in that sense...pity you can't code to have a garb or old clothes but not both.

Lastly, why is it that threads like this get Dev comments but others that that seem to have just as important implications for the community go meh? Pixel crack thrown to us all in a poorly planned way is far from game breaking but the lose of players is more so IMO.
