It's been down for a year or more now and I was just wondering if we'll ever be able to use this feature again on uo.com to lookup players.

Will "My UO" or "Character Search" on the UO website ever work again?

They are working on relaunching uo.com from what Jeff has said

When the subscription rates rebound and we hit over 50K people again, perhaps then you may see it. Until then, the dismal numbers are too embarassing to be publicly released.
come on people... do you always have to be so negative?? They have the 15 year launch and Jeff said around that time will be UO.com relaunch I think that is what he said correct me if I am wrong someone

Both Kai Schober and the Warhammer producer said in the official Warhammer forums that the web/game functionality was removed for security issues. The Warhammer producer said there is a lot that needs to be done from a security point of view before they can put it back online. While he was talking about Warhammer, all three Mythic MMORPGs lost similar functionality around the same time, although the Japanese UO team kept their stuff going for a while. My guess is Sony getting hacked freaked them out, and then a BioWare site getting hacked and maybe losing EA customer info probably pushed it down the list of priorities.
This isn't a personal attack, but Kai is apparently in charge of the website redesigns going by what he did with Camelot and Warhammer, and he does not have the expertise to implement the necessary coding for MyUO.
I don't think it's necessarily that customer information can be gleaned from MyUO, I think it's a case of EA and other companies getting scared by the Sony fiasco and putting strict protocols into place. If you cannot satisfy the security protocols, you cannot have that functionality.

I would certainly hope they could get that up and running again. I seriously miss character and guild search features. I mean before I put someone in my alliance or go to war with another guild I would VERY much like to be able to look at everyone in their guild.
I don't know what the problem with this is but I do know they use Drupal as their CMS now, and if it's anything like the version of Drupal we used to use, it's a pain in the rear. Ours would not work with anything in java script without a lot of effort, even some html was difficult to achieve.

Yeah, at one point Kai said he had problems upgrading the Camelot site because of different Drupal versions.
To his credit, Kai has publicly stated he doesn't have the expertise to add back in the stuff that pulls game data. Of course, he's supposed to be a community relations person, but they have him redesigning websites, testing them, handling PR, etc.
Larger companies tend to have a person or persons dedicated to website development and maintenance, and a different person or persons dedicated to dealing with players, and a different person or persons handling the media. Kai is doing all three, and these days, Kai is probably mostly dealing with the Warhammer MOBA beta.
What's weird is that he's the "Senior Community Manager" at BioWare Mythic. That would imply there is somebody underneath him.

I had a page that had a small java script show/hide. If I tried to edit the page for any reason it wiped out the script and I had to put it back in.
It would accept the script in html view, but by default the pages opened for editing in wysiwyg view. Going into that view at any stage just deleted the script.
