Old Player Returning Looking for Template Advice (PVP)

I am returning to EA's UO since I left at about the time powerscrolls came out. My current build is a 7x Lumberjack swordsman. I hear lumberjacking doesnt give a bonus to swords damage anymore and besides I think having the following template would be more advantageous than having lumberjacking's 20% bonus or whatever it was/is.

Swords 120
Tactics 120
Anat 120
Heal 120
Resist 120
Bushido 120

How will it stand up in PVP provided I carry potions and trapped pouches and all of that stuff?

What are some templates for PVP that you guys can suggest to me that are warrior orientated and top of the line if this template isn't all that good?

It still gives a damage bonus.

Abilities
Lumberjacks receive a Damage Increase when they wield certain weapons. The formula is Lumberjack skill ÷ 5 (plus 10% if Lumberjacking is equal to or greater than 100). At GM Lumberjacking, there is a 5% chance for a Lumberjacking damage bonus of 100% from base weapon damage.
  • The following axe weapons and the artifacts based on those items impart the damage bonus:

Bottom line is, unless you are really lucky, you will not kill anything with basic hits, even with 120 Tacs/Anat. You might finish off PvP enemies damaged by other means, but not 1 on 1. Killing in PvP is about burst damage and that means team dumps or using your specials carefully and appropriately.

So - starting point is to decide what weapon specials (and therefore weapon skill) you will base your PvP dexer around. Then work out what Stamina you need to do that job effectively. Build in +25 hits and Str to get you to 119 (human) or 120 (elf) before pots (assuming 50 EP). After allocating enough to Dex, rest obviously goes in Int. Top end Dexer pvp builds will run 150 Str/Hits, 150 to 190 Stamina and 120 to 150 Mana. That's your benchmark. Then get used to playing it as your main and only toon day in day out...

Tacs, Anat and Healing could all be 100 without degrading performance imo. I'd drop Bush to 60-70 for Confidence only and add enough Ninja for Animal Form escape. You might be rather FotM but that's how the metagame works....at least for now...;p

Agreed.

I've run 2 templates in PvP for freaking years. A Nox Mage and a Dexxer.

Here's the dexxer template:

swords 120
tactics 120
healing 100
anatomy 100
resist 120
parry 120
chivalry 65

Obviously some skill on jewelry. Chiv is just for Sacred Journey and Divine Fury if I feel the urge and don't have Refresh Pots.

As the poster above me said, it's all about the special moves on your weapons. I tend to switch between bleed, disarm and mortal strike. Also make sure whatever weapon you use has a Hit Effect, such as hit lightning, for some added damage.

I know there is always the latest gimp templates running around that are probably stronger than my 2 old school templates, usually using some 1 trick pony type attack to kill people. But I've been playing them for years and am, very very familiar with what I can and cannot do with them. Plus unlike those twinks playing the latest gimps, chances are you're not going to get nerfed next publish and have to redo everything ;)
