First off this is not a EC bashing thread. I just want to get some facts out there. This has been tested and I know for a fact it happens. First people using the EC can run through objects that are in the CC. Second using the EC lets you run faster then the CC. Third people using the EC can lag out and make people using the CC crash. At first I didn't think it to be true but after testing I am 100% sure of these things.

Just wanted to make people aware of this.

It's true, I can even run through the walls of buildings at twice the speed of my guildmates. Sometimes I feel like I annoy them when I do it.

I have never noticed the EC crashing my CC, even when using both clients at the same time to have 2 accounts interact with each other.

While the crashing claim is crap, the EC is faster than the CC. (the auto navigation around obstacles helps this) There are also a few things in Fel which block movement when using the CC, but the EC doesn't seem to see them the same way.

This is hilarious, some of you will stop at nothing to see any alternative clients killed even if it's bad for the game as a whole. I thought you'd be happy with the demise of the third dawn client but no. Srsly, stop already. The CC isn't going anywhere so what is the problem.

If you use the EC you have a better chance at winning Powerball... I saw it in one of the UOP files. Didn't see anything about Mega Millions though.

No but in all seriousness I am FAR faster in the EC... This I can see all the time. Not to mention with the zoom features of the EC I can see 10X further... With the autodress features of the EC I can switch weapons, my quiver and my talisman in the blink of an eye.... making me FAR more prepared for whatever I'm hunting...

As for crashing the CC I think you are dreaming. I do know that there is some sort of hack that I swear CC users do use that causes everyone within range to totally lock up the instant they come in range... I don't care what client your using. I've been the victim of that more than once. I know there are some folk who the instant they are onscreen with you cause you to lag out and freeze up. But that's been going on since before the EC ever even existed. So on that your theory if flawed.

Also mess around with a friend who plays nothing but enhaned and he doesn't pull away from me, we the same speed. When he actualy switched to classic during some pvp fight he was laughing and mocking people how they both the same "running speed". Now for the macros and other things you can do in enhanced does makes playing the charater better and faster to do things. I have never crashed in cc when i hunt or fight with my friends who use enhanced, moslty crash on depending who I am fighting with in fel if i even do crash.

The autonav feature in the EC makes them much much faster when fighting in the forest (yew gate). The EC users will turn faster than CC users because there isnt the short delay in the EC. I have tested this in the woods and in a lap around luna. I would like to use the EC but when I'm running it just seems so blurry to me and gives me a headache.

No idea about the crashing issue. I never seem to crash so... meh :/

I too have "raced" a friend in a straight line area, both of us taking a screenshot at the "finish line" and we were both within ms of each other. The EC is not "faster" it just doesn't allow trees and whatnot to block you when in a dead run.

Flutter's post is pretty much dead on, theres no speed difference, but the EC is effectively faster as you can pretty much "run through" objects that would rubberband you in the CC...and since it doesnt count you as stepping to the side and back due to how UO client side limits movement you "effectively" run faster in the EC in cluttered areas.

They need to either make all the little twigs, plants, etc...non-blocking in the CC or turn them on in the EC.....the devs could just ask one of the many people using the modified collision files to supply them a copy and they won't even have to do it themselves!

Or they could just move ALL collision and movement serverside like all sane MMO's do and only test it on the client for speed and graphical reasons....It's not 1997 anymore, the server can handle it, and it would require 0 new code on either client.

Please supply your test criteria.

EC has more efficient pathfinding, this is the source of the perceived greater speed.

I have frequently been in a group with people playing both clients, I have never had any complaints that they have crashed
I also sometimes play alongside my husband who plays CC - trust me, if my client had caused his to crash I would most definitely know about it.

I would like to see your "test" data. You wouldn't know how to put a test together and analyze it if your PVP butt depended on it. This is just more of your made up imagination.

We can follow a path that has many corners and obstacles. We can even place some torches on the ground of the path to prevent confusion. Players who strongly think that one of the clients is superior should be on the corresponding team to illustrate their point. We can also collect the ping and the system information of the participants to analyze if latency had any effect.

Don't you know that this would never work? There is 100% certainty that the CC users will crash. I read that somewhere.

For the OP, since you tested this, would you share the testing you ran? Tests means repeatable vs something you've heard that someone thinks is happening. I'm not doubting what you say, just wanting further specifics.

Back in the day we used to run timed speed checks on top of the Yew Prison.The long corridor in Tomb of Kings works good for that, as well as out in front of it. A measured length where you can run side by side w/o obstacles to see if someone is really faster.

Where are the objects that block one client, but not another? It'd be nice to know specifically what does or doesn't, either to be fixed or become a known feature, just as 'flying' bounces around many statics, giving fluid movement.

What circumstances make you crash? I can't remember the last time i crashed. I've seen 3 areas in SA which get sticky, but not a crash, 2 are close together and pretty often, but not a well frequented area

I'm pretty sure the crash issue Vyal is talking about has something to do with pets being killed in pvp, it crashes everyone on screen [sometimes] but the EC users seem unaffected by this.

It doesn't happen Everytime a pet dies, but more often than not that's what happens as everyone on screen [excluding EC users] crashes at once.
it also seems to happen sometimes when a person/pet dies while someone is trying to grab it's bar from the object handles [ctrl+shift] in CC.

EC does indeed move faster than the CC, and the ability to run through objects which block movement in CC is... an interesting perk, but it's definitely true.

Actually right now I am playing on Atlantic.
However, if they don't fix the origin store so I can buy High Seas :pirate: it won't be for much longer, closed 1 of the 3 accounts I reopened last month and will close another the end of this month if it isn't fixed and I guess the 3rd the month after that, I think 6 months is the MOST time anyone could be expected to wait to have the same game content as everyone else ............ but that is another thread.

Think its refered to as ..''the speeder''....been around months ...all the pvp people are crying about it..seems pvp using the old classic client is now impossible

Besides killing your cpu... Whats that smell? Ohh wait, that must be your comp burning...
I've tried a couple versions of that, guess I've already tweaked my PC to the extent they did nothing for me, wasted my time.

Agree with Covenant on the reason for crashing. I've noticed a lot less crashing lately, since factions got nerfed and there are less war horses around. I don't think EC peeps run faster though. They just don't get hung up, so appear faster. Definitely wish my crappy computer could use EC. My gargs rubber band on everything.

Well, I still have to get a few things in order before I can do this.. I'm making some final decisions about the software and setup I can afford at the moment, but once it's done, I'll be happy to capture for you if I can.

As you stated, we'll have to get a shard where all the testers and myself have a ping within a reasonable amount of each other.. Should the terrain be open, or cluttered in housing? There is an option in EC for house caching, if I recall correctly, (Can't confirm at this time - Not on my home PC) which may also have an impact.

Of course, now comes the big question - Do I capture from the EC, or CC? And we must also factor in how fast my PC can capture, given its age and configuration.

Just some food for thought.

The EC specially with player UI's is waaay overpowered. No Way can a pvper on the CC without a speeder finish off a person running EC and maybe even a speeder on top of that. You only use up mana fighting such fast players, all they do is speed offscreen whenever they are low. Good work again from the Devs to make it even harder for the none cheaters, gratz.
Player UI's are crazy, it takes quite long to set macros and stuff, but once done a chicken could play UO with it. And putting the auto run around obstacles in game is plain stupid, i mean the devs call that a fix for the terrain problem, lol.
EC looks like a guy on crack coded the rainbowcolors and shadows/shapes. Improving the graphics and letting everything look totally different is not the same. Figuring out what kind of mount people are sitting on is funny **** tho.

sooo..... CC is useless. EC is ugly .... 1 step closer to quitting this game.

Personally, I think this is just a new tactic to bash EC. Either client is equally available to use. If your equipment is holding you back, I am sorry. I do not want your equipment to hold me back.

Not sure where you heard "speeder" wasn't working. I know for a fact people are still using it.

Throw my two cents in with everyone else that states the EC simply has more efficient code.. pathfinding is much better as stated above.
I also agree that to say you've "tested" something to the point of proving it you must give us the means to duplicate your tests.
Personally I think it's your rig.

to be honest the last patch killed EC for good, and if they don't fix/revert the latest changes it's just a broken toy...

I'm not savvy enough to know whether moving the collision detection server side would require any new code. However, from the other games I play--which have far less cheating than UO--all of them have more focus on the server side. Not sure how much UO can clean up by adding to server side but could be a nice step in the right direction. UO PvP balance is laughable at best because it's way too easy to cheat. That and the game is pretty much RNG controlled without any kind of skill shots, but I digress.

it's a clear attempt of improving the performance... the function to clear something from the cache was working bad before the patch, now it's not working at all.
I spent 1 month to optimize the code in my UI to reduce the lag and make the game playable, then they make patch like this one and the game became unplayable... crafting cause a massive lag, fighting serious thing cannot be done due to the healthbar showing always 100% hp (except when the server feel merciful and send an update that cannot be refused client side).

Oh and let's not forget the crashing dance... today I crashed 3 times just while typing the password at the login screen, and 4 times I entered the game to see everyone naked, no items anywhere, no walls, just a big land with naked people running around :D

Clearly someone is trying to boycott the work on EC to force people quitting, it's part of the plan for the 15th anniversary when who still playing UO will die in mysterious circumstances :lol:

& ya someone needs to step in and fix the issue I mentioned. My first guess is the servers are sending packets out to clients that it should not be sending. Flooding the CC with packets it doesn't understand and causing the lock ups and crashes. Something is going on at least on Legends, there is a few people in a zerg guild that cause me to lock up and crash daily. They tell me all they use is Pinco's UI so there could be something in it that is screwing people up. Me I just think they have packet pushers keyed to certain macro's.

They are just not telling you the truth. I play with folks that use Pinco UI and it never cuases me unexplained crashes. Of course whenever certain pvpers come up on screen we crash out so...

my UI it's working fine, and if someone is screwing up people is because they are using a modded version of the exe that allows them to do illegal things.

The only problem I've ever encountered with Pinco's and CC users related to it transmitting my map location when in a party. It didn't crash them, it just spammed them badly. I turned it off.
I suspect those particular zerg guild members are doing something that's fairly common among less scrupulous pvpers - lying to you.

Of course they are most likely bsing me.

Also Like I said I would like to try your UI out but you need to find a new server to host your patch on because it really does suck, sorry not dogging your UI just saying whatever is hosting your patch program is bad, 221 mb would have taken me a week to download on a 1gb con.

All depends on where you live. I'm not working for EA and I can't afford a server on every continent...
Actually my patch server is in the best webfarm in Italy. The far you are from here, the more is the time required...

No, the patcher is the only way to install and update it. Using the zip file requires too much time to makes the patches, and too much time to download it for everyone.
The patcher will download the 220 mb once, then every new version you get just few kb to update it. Using the zip you will have to download 220mb everytime.

No make a version with the 221mb patch included then just run the patcher. Or set your patcher to download the files directly from a American hosted server. France clearly has very very sad server farms. I don't care what ya do, I just wanted to look into your UI and find out what its doing exactly.
