Character Customization and Paperdoll Appearance

These are great ideas that would help bring something new to UO. Something that I think UO already leads in so it would be a great place to move thigns forward. Also some of it would just look so great.

I loved those when I could use the EC, but I seem to recall reading read not long ago that the body sculptor no longer interacts with characters when you're running the EC. (He certainly doesn't if you're using the CC.) Does anyone who uses EC know?

some of those items are already in there...
like pitchfork (tinkering craftable), talwar (gargoyle weapon) and the race paperdolls undead, meer, juka and vampire (EC ONLY).

Exactly.

It should come as no surprise that the Paperdolls I listed were already in the EC. The problem is that most of us do not use that client. Not that I want to turn this into a 2D vs. EC debate - God knows we've enough of those - but the art would see better use in 2D.

And besides. What use is it being an Orc or Meer in EC if no one can see it?

The Talwar. Fingerless Gloves. The Loin Cloth. Turn Down Pirate Boots. These items are in game. In the art. But are inaccessible to humans. You want to be a Barbarian in the vein of Conan or Frazetta? Roll an Elf. Or join Factions.

There is also the issue of items which once had a unique design in 3D but it was never converted to 2D or EC. The Flower Garland. Fur Boots. The Fur Cape.

I get incentives to upgrade. But ML is long past. Infinite customization is one of the major draws of a sandbox. But thus far we've been limited to houses and dyes.

Customization is the best thing about UO. Any increase gives good ole Grimm work and enriches the world. Also for some reason folks love colors if there was more of this and more colors think about how many folks would flock to it.

I think Dragon Armor was the last art addition I really got excited about. The armor became viable again thanks to imbuing but it's still kind of underused.

Maybe even something simple like a pale yellow rehued leather armor type with a base of 1/2/4/2/1 (10) to bridge spined and horned. Would give imbuers a cold-based option which could be sort of interesting.

Aww Grimm its not like that. But remember if you do good work (think your pumpkin monsters) then we want to see more of it... in many ways your doomed to have us always wanting to see more of your things. Personally I would love to see some more animations as those pumpkin monsters blew me away graphically.

A lot of customization would be possible just letting certain items be alterable into other similar items in the same slot (helms to helms, other headwear into other headwear, robes into sashes, etc.)
