Patch Issues......

So yah i keep getting a patch error message... it reads as follows....

Patch error!
The patch client was unable to retrieve the file
[base/unpacked/e517ea935f837cf7] from the patch server (0 total errors encountered). Please try the patch operation again in a short while.

Any advice on what i should do? I been getting this message everytime i try to open UO. Ive tried starting from uoassist.exe, uo.exe, and uopatch.exe i get the message every time i try. It goes thru a large amount of the patch then just stops with the window that opens displaying that message. This is getting very frustrating as ive been trying to patch for near 6 hours now.

If you open with UO Assist before patching, you get an error because it opens the game and the patcher now at the same time and it cannot patch because of the client being open. Just open the client and let it fully patch, then close it and re-open with UO Assist. It should bring up the game and the patcher at the same time. Since you already patched, you can just close the patcher and play. That is how I was using it yesterday and had no issues.

Did you get it to work so you could log in to the game at all ?

ATM after all this time, I still can not get to play, but then for some fool reasons, after several hours, on my older Win XP, it's still STILL patching !!! I am not gonna inflict my win 7 with this if it is all just a fubar !

If I don't get to get back to LOG INTO the game, :* well, yall enjoy my stuffs on 2 shards !!

All this had become is like staring at UO gold topped duracell battery patch bars, that refuse to work like an energizer bunny battery, that probably should be thrown out or reverted back to normal patchin for patches that actually....WORK or work faster and better than this stuff, is doing (or not doing).

Queen Zen, when you say it is 'still patching' what do you actually mean? If you mean it does 390/390 every time, that's not patching, it's a checksum. Bleak posted about that.
Try starting without uoa. If it just does the checksum and then lets you launch the game, you're fully patched.
To start with uoa, start up will give you two uo windows, the client one and the patcher one. X the patcher one and continue with the client one to log in.
For win 7 patch without uoa and you'll go fine, then follow the same procedure to start with uoa.

I am on Win 7 and it took me about a minute or 2 to patch the classic. I am able to play and use UO Assist though it tells me that there are charcter's missing. I was using it on a new character yesterday and was able to create a couple of macros and use them. It also was able to do the normal stuff like keep track of gains, regs, bandies and what not for me.

1. Start CC without UOAssist and let it patch completely (if you are having problems, check UHall for patch help)
2. Start CC with UOAssist and close out new patcher when it opens.
You should now be able to use UOAssist while playing CC, at least this is how it works for me on Win 7

I had to use my UOpatch.exe file in my classic content folder. It took me exactly 58 hours and 43 minutes to finaly get it all patched and when i start UOA now it tries to patch it all again. Im on windows 7 with worst possible internet so yours might be slightly faster QZ. Anyways i was like you i was on the verge of saying screw it i quit also. They really need to go back to the old patch way. This new way is horrid.

Haven't even bothered to try this mess on my Win 7 with speedier connection, yet.

I quit using UO Assist ages ago.
This mess on this Win XP *horribly slower connection* on this older computer,
which began patching for me at 7:11am YESTERDAY, still patching nonstop, today yet,
atm is showing this on them gold bars :

AnimationFram4.uop[29MB/68MB] on top bar,
Patching files[232MB/444MB]
and way down below it's saying 52% Bioware Patcher..................

GAH this feels like it is doing UO for 14 yrs of it all, not even sure this xp will have the RAM or memory or whatevers to even complete this mess.

And some stuff repeats itself, but gives me different *gold bar* I mean how many maps or animation frames or art rinse repeat watch the thing dwld. dwld dwld and seemingly never ending.

Yes this is a slower dial up but atm I don't even know if this even IS functioning right/correctly anyhows.

First dwld went like old patching np speedy, then got DOS screen doing whatever the heck,
then the new UO came with flaming ankh thingie and new gold bars on black dwld dwld dwld dwld,
thus atm I am on 28 hrs of BS of dwlding this thing.

And a Micrsoft popped up dwlding new patch late last nite, which did get done fast, but sooooooo now I been also hitting the microsoft pop up, every 14 mins. not to *RESTART computer* cuz this would totally trash the already 28+ hrs. of UO's wondous patchin patcher patchin [if it unlike the OLD patchin does not, restart where patching before, had left off.] I am not in the mood to have to rebegin from 0 with this whatever this is !!!!

So yeh if i do not get to LOG into game no more, due to all this patcher patches patching,
well.... enjoy all my 14 yrs of stuff, sheepstatues ankhs, parrots etc. when it all falls on 2 shards.

And yes I CAN do all this patcher patch on the newer Win 7 with speedier connection,
but it is a very large laptop, so UO *classic* client does not look as cool on WIN 7 as
it does on this old XP ie colors and lighting etc. Everything else I do do on my Win 7
is gorgeous, cept a 14+ yr old UO. So I try on this XP slower connection, FIRST .... meh !

might be time to say the heck with all this and UO both till they create a CURE or fix that does work and does not take days to dwld !!! *if it even works* after all that !

yah im in the same boat. im very discouraged with this. I cant even get the patcher to open now. i click my icons or exe files and nothing even pops up now. when i do get a client to open it gets stuck on connecting then i get the not responding message. I think they finaly broke UO. However i moved some gold off some of the vendors so alot of my vendors will be going poof over the next few days unless stuff sells.

Well for me all the fishes in my various UO aquariums are gonna end up stinkin' dead floating belly up,
cuz we have to feed and water em every 2 rl days or, they belly up !
As for my vendors, 1 or 2 on Siege gonna crap out simply cuz a couple of em are more broke,
the Ches. ones are too full of gold, but I can't very well RESTOCK recalls or gates there this way, either.
I am VERY glad I got all my ships out of the waters, on 2 shards the other day, something lately prob since migration mess, always keeps telling me drydock em, that our beloved UO can not be counted, to work for us, like before.

I am atm blasting Crosby Stilles and Nash, CARRY ON song...so CZ we may never see the light of UO again but we can always contintue to... CARRY ON 'here' !

But I am seriously thinkin to just shut all this mess off, pull the plug so to speak, it's like it is all only on life supports anyhow, and go DO RL and the heck with this hours and hours of patching whatevers going nowhere fast, and then IF it even works at all. There is a whole world out there, sunshine and all, I am too old to waste this much time endlessly sitting here watchin' bars dwlding UO patchits whatevers, for all eternity !
