Soylent green is people!! Damn kids don't know anything anymore!!
Too True!

Not gonna repeat everything my fellow oldtimers have already said.. but they have been doing this since factions came out and there ARE ways to get around it. And it's not exploiting either.

That said.. Tina how in the hell do you keep coming up with all these old Stratics files? I just can't seem to get the hang of the new search boxes! If you ever get time to throw some advice on that just ICQ me please.

Good #**&^ lord.... I shoulda never posted about the blockade part, its severely making it sound like people are saying purposefully crashing someone has been around forever and is acceptable.

Yes, we all know you can use candelabras to block people now! Using them a floor about to NOT block, but to only crash isnt so ha ha he he great.

I just try to remember what was in the thread or post I want to find, who made the posts, and then use the regular Google search engine to find it. For some reason, I haven't been able to find much of anything anymore using the search feature within Stratics or even just paging through screen after screen of archived posts, threads, announcements, or whatever.

Lord X, I have a suspicion that something has changed recently with regard to stacking many items on one tile.

Not so long ago, someone described dropping unsecured chests out of her house by going into customization mode. She assumed that all the many chests she pitched out of the house that way would safely stack on one tile under the house sign. She was very dismayed to find out in the end that only one chest survived that process.

Perhaps it might be helpful for anyone from EA that might be checking this thread if you could say which client you and guildmates have been using. I know Poo said he had the same problem at that particular stronghold recently and I'm pretty confident he hasn't recently seen the light and converted to using the Enhanced Client. (J/K Poo.) If you're also using the Classic Client, do you have any guildmates that use the Enhanced Client and what has their experience been around the multi-stacked candelabras? I know, as do all the other people that have posted here, that stacked items in Castle British never used to cause these problems with crashing. The stacked items just made people pull their hair out a bit and figure out some other way to get to the sigils. (You do know, I hope, that you can still grab them even after they've turned, so long as your enemy hasn't put them back in the towns.) It could very well be that the source of these recent crashes is an unannounced/unpublicized change in the game and not something that is being done maliciously by players.

X, this thread has only proven two things:

1. There are plenty of people AND devs who do not know as much about this game as they thought or claim they do. Look how many vastly incorrect responders there were to this post...proving they actually knew nothing at all about...whatever. :thumbup1:

2. When you do not know about something...you simply call "hack" or "exploit" (you are far from alone..be comforted). All because you simply do not understand and you have shown no desire to learn, explore and then defeat obstacles or the unknown that are placed in your view...on your own. As you have so clearly shown...you certainly are part of the 99%. :sad3:

There is no offence intended here..I don't even know you. It is simply an astute and correct observation.

99%.....Soylent Green. I simply can not understand why we have any hunger on this planet at all, when such an easy food source is available for nothing ...free... with no effort whatsoever.

BBQ "pork" chops for everyone!!!

Remember...the best of knowledge is passed on by the survivors.

Now today, TB was guarding sigils once more. This time they were back to almost the throne room, and fielding the hell out of the little room before it that you have to go through to get in. This time they placed 4 stacks of candelabras on the floor above that room. This effectively led to us crashing every time we made a push into the room. All the while they just had to stand behind it in the doorway and cast/shoot. This time you couldn't even remove the candelabras by hand because they weren't even on a floor that you could reach. So because they did this, they OBVIOUSLY know that its causing people to crash. Otherwise those candelabras would be worthless on the floor above. Again 3+ people paged on this and nothing happened. Couple hours went by and they had their sigils.
I'm curious about what happened to the sigils on LS now three days later (you made the original post about 4 am Tuesday morning). Who got them yesterday/today and how did it all go?

Widow Maker, there is no offense intended here... I don't even know you... I've never even posted here before, but no one should have to "learn, explore and then defeat" exploits. I believe that's the point of the OP.

Hence your "astute and correct observation" is better described as something of a hasty generalization against those who rightfully post about what is, by definition, an exploit.

Side note: The reason why GMs don't do anything about it is because their clients crash when they get near the candelabras, methinks :stretcher:

Well I am not sure about chests.... those are kind of different... and one could argue that a stealther just took the other chests because they were outside the house. Not saying it happened like that but eh I dunno. But I do know the same thing happened to me years ago with the candelabras the same way.

As far as client, I do indeed use classic as do all my guild mates that were there that day. In fact, we only have ONE guildie who does use EC and he only plays once or twice a week and wasn't there.

1. It proved I myself and a couple others were apparently wrong about the total blockage in a faction base. You are correct there. As far as the crashing goes. No. Which I will get more into below.

2. No offence intended but did you read my whole post? I understand QUITE well how they are crashing me and others. I accidently replicated it years ago. I could've used this knowledge to crash people at any point between then and now. On day #2, like I said the candelabras were NOT placed in our way or my 'view'. I also know how to disarm this. Though I woulda had to have had my entire guild logged out in the TB base before you even got there. I also would've had to have many packies and spent quite a bit of time on the floor above (after relogging back in of course, it crashes you when you get to the adjacent tile) picking up candelabras and probably crashing many more times while doing that. BTW, ONE forced crash is too much, and honestly would bet you 10 million UO gold that I could find a section in the TOS that hits on this at LEAST 85%.

Just because I cant get past something or go around something like this isn't all the time on me or have anything to do with my desire to learn. I shouldn't HAVE to work around someone trying to crash me out of the game. Lets put it like this..... should you HAVE to put up with someone smoking in the cubicle next to you of a non-smoking workplace? Or would the more obvious answer be to tell management to get them to stop or fire them?
I shouldn't have to deal with this crap, I pay my monthly sub to play.... not to get booted out of the game by something another player is doing.
So yeah, I guess our definitions of astute and correct aren't the same. :/

I'm curious about what happened to the sigils on LS now three days later (you made the original post about 4 am Tuesday morning). Who got them yesterday/today and how did it all go?
TB got most of them again. My guild hasn't been on much and honestly after holding the towns for 3 months the correct and legal way, this crap has kinda snuffed out most of our interest in sigils at all.

:wall:blocking faction bases is currently not a exploit its called fair play cause all bases may use this tactic. Knowingly placing a object or objects on ground or in game with the known fact that players will crash is considered a exploit. To explain myself farther we will got to the uo terms of service. no player may cause duress on another player, no player may deny use of game thru actions.if soemone is making clients crash they not only or causing duress, they are in violation for denying the right to log in to the game. So people can not log in to game they are denyied the right to play which they pay for in a monthly fee. This needs to be looked at closer and crash issue fixed or the game itself is in violation of it own tos policy. The easy fix is to teleport all logged chars out of faction stronghold automatic so they wont crash when logging back in.This is the easy fix and of course will affect other aspects of base guarding.Me personally have seen this done outside players house and seems a shame its still being used today to the point of harrasment.:twak:
