Population of Siege

I am confused and curious at the same time. Are the majority of the houses on Siege WBTB houses or are that many people keeping a house on Siege but no longer playing on Siege?


I was hoping when the IDOC's were turned back on that I would be able to place a castle or buy one. I have been running all over Siege looking for a place large enough for a castle since no one is selling. I have found a couple of spots for keeps but nothing for a castle or at least nothing that I have been able to place. I have found a lot of homes and castles. The forums talk about how dead Siege is, and that is what I have gathered from running around and also general chat. I see the same group of people in chat most of the time.

Always been this way. Been rare for a castle to fall (when IDOCs fell normally). No one can say why they stay up. Some might be bugged.
Unfortunately you just have to remain patient.

As far as housing goes there are two places that are still in demmand. Castles and Magincia houses. During the great IDOC day there were a few castles that dropped but someone placed a castle as soon as it allowed a castle to be placed.

There are still a lot of people who love IDOCs and check for them almost daily. You can rest assured if a castle goes in IDOC quite a few people will know about it and there will be someone ready to place a castle in its spot.

I understand that castles are in demand and I guess I really shouldn't have mentioned that I was looking for a castle because that is really irrelevant to my curiosity. I am just wondering how Siege can be so full of houses with so few people playing regardless of type of house. I ran across a lot of towers, custom houses, old style houses etc. With the amount of houses up and only one house per account (I don't think there are too many grandfathered multi-house accounts left) it seems like there must be a lot of people that are holding a house on Siege and not playing or a ton of WBTB houses. I was just curious why so many houses with seemingly so few people actually playing.

Dont forget that almost everyone on siege has 2-3 accounts at least, many have far more. When you have a extra account open for the purpose of having an extra character why not hold another house with it. I'd be willing to bet siege has the highest accounts/player ratio of any shard. There are also some that pay every 3 months to hold extra houses

Very true, just seems odd to me because of so few playing though I can't say that I haven't played the 90 day game while taking a break before.

I may have 2 castles up for sale in the next month or so, maybe longer depending on some other things.

Also raptor is very very correct. there are very many of us that have multiple accounts with houses on them. If you run around tho you will notice we have more castles on siege then on other shards. Most upgrade to castles or drop a bunch of little houses to place them. Id say alot of the population on siege has castles tho. I also know of a few people that have multiple castles.

I just went from six accounts to two... I blame Bush. Just like the current administration.

I had been down to 2 accounts for a year, but do now have 3 active as I was lucky to get a castle in the right spot for me.

I had 5 accounts active just a year ago and think 8 when I was most active some years ago.

I also know some with multi accounts play normal shards but keep their house on Siege.

Yes some Siegers have multiple accts. that we pay for all the time.

I am really only 1 Siege person, yet 4 chrs. here.

Normally I split my accts. as to which shard of 2, that I keep houses upon.

Usually the very oldest 2 who's characters go back to 1998 with allies in felucca Paxlair, those 2 accts. *usually keep homes on Chesapeake*

When I came to Siege in 2004, I used my so called younger 2 UO accts. to place homes on Siege.

Some times I have maintained 3 homes HERE and 1 only there.
Some times it is 2 here 2 there, etc.

Sometimes it depends on my moods and what new wonder spot opened up & where.

But yeh I am only one of Siege, and there been times
I held 3 full homes here, for yrs. or months.

I have NEVER done the welcome back to UO etc. bs. I have had over the yrs. as many as 11 active paid for accts. but opted to keep only 4 of em always been active never deactivated the main 4 as I call em.
or holding houses I never use, nor never pay for, to hold for 90 days etc.

Hmmm... old time UO addicts, there are still a few around. At one time, I maintained 12 accounts with 12 houses here on SP.

I still maintain 8 accounts, and each has a house here on SP.

It is hard to let some stuff go, and those house tile teleporters sure make it easy to jump around to different areas of SP.

Tis season, the busy time in Florida, so, I have very little time to play right now, I still love the game and hang onto my accounts for... no good reason.

That old saying... you can't teach an old dog new tricks, seems to be true in my case.

And I just kept placing houses in a large clearing til noone else had one there, dropped them all at 4 am EST one night and placed a castle, that is how I got the one under Elmer Fudds old castle.

Just be patient, it only took me a little over 10 years to get a castle

I know after I sold my castle the one at the Yew gate about a year ago, when i made the push to ATL, I had like five accounts playing on siege, i have three now. 1# which is my main i play ATL on, 2# holds an account for my wifes and I's junk on siege which has a house, 3# is my daughters account and she plays test. So we have one account that holds a house spot just for siege crack, which I think we are going to sell or get rid of, cause siege is so dead its no worth it to have the account holding a house and Michele (my Wife) will not play again because its so dead and got bored.

So we use to have five accounts all holding houses on siege, so there are four more spots open because of us, and sry, already sold Castle...lol

5 accounts, 5 houses - all on Siege. But they *are* spread out - Zento, New Mag, Termur, near Skara and by Vesper. And yes - the tele tiles make it easy to move from one to the next.

But I also play all 5 accounts - usually over the course of every couple of weeks I will have logged in and played all of them. One's a crafter, one an imbuer, the other three are various forms of hunters (necro-myst; stealth archer; and ninja).

And my personal thought is that EA would never kill Siege - they might be incompetent from time to time, but they're not stupid - where else can they get so many players paying for multiple accounts? We might have the lowest "population" but I would love to know what the so-called population is compared to the number of accounts that population holds. They've probably kicked themselves for allowing multiple characters per account on the other shards! And then there's the number of soulstone tokens they sell to this shard.... But that's another story.

I had 5 accounts here that I played regularly. I left Siege a little over a year ago and still pay to keep my main account and house active. Not sure how much longer I will continue that, though.

*shrugs* Depends on what you want to do for entertainment - and what you can afford. I don't own a TV, don't watch (or pay for) cable. If I really want to see a show, I can watch it on my computer. So it's a case of UO working out for some, and not for others. If I had more money, I would play less UO as I would be able to go out a little more. But I would still play, as it's good relaxation and, compared to what other 'entertainment' costs, is cheap entertainment.

Nearly all of the General Chat players had their own house.

But, not all use General Chat and many play during the 1AM to Server down time zone.

The main behavior of players is to play their own game ... avoidance is the name of the game. Pvpers are out of luck here on Siege Perilous.

It is only the Merchant's game that plays better. Those who need some cooperation, you know... I need that raw material, ... is there an Imbuer online, ... spamming buying or selling this or that , ... my vendor has been restocked. Keep those merchants interested! Buy stuff folks.

IDOC's should be rare events... from now on ...

I dont think IDOC's will be rare events, if anything they will pick up for a bit until there are only 20-25 houses/keeps/castles left which will total the numbers of those very stealthy merchants and crafters who are left on this shard...in a small way im kidding and poking fun of the population, but in a sad way its so true as well

I think SP will be full of houses and especially castles for a long time. A big majority of those castles are (IMO) owned by people who don`t even play here just to be able to say they own a castle somewhere. Pirty lame.

Stealthy merchants? I play SP like I used to play Fel before that "T" word was thrust upon us. I`m not going to be your fodder,if you want my stuff,your gonna have to find me.Not going to hang at the entrance of shame with my luck suit on and expect nothing to happen. If a pk doesn`t like finding a stealthy target,than maybe that pk should equip tracking and detect hidden,but that would possibly gimp a template...... just like pvp skills kind of gimp a some pvm templates. Fair trade off,can`t have your cake and eat it too.

I barley notice the small population because of an active guild. Always something to do if you want it. I would love to run a pk char but would need a 3rd acc,so not going to happen anytime soon =(
