Damage Eater

Just returning to UO and I was wondering is someone could explain the damage eater quality (before I spend gold on buying items with it). Does it reduce damage, or just store an amount to be used later?

It stores an amount to be used later. It's not worth the effort.

It's analogous to Hit Point Regeneration: Useful as an "incidental" property ("look I just got 1 extra HP from kinetic eater on my Ranger's Cloak!"), but to take advantage of it deliberately you have to pile it up in such high amounts that you'll skip on other things that are much more useful. And there's only a few items that have it, so you can only pile it up so much anyway.

I am sometimes, though, tempted by the idea of building a "tank" type warrior around the Wall of Hungry Mouths. But I think that's in part for the cool name.

hmm. i have a pair of sleeves with 15% all damage eater that i can imbue to have everything else i need (it would essentially trade 2 mana regen for the damage eater)


I can't decide if its worth it or not =/

Crafted. Like i said, it can have everything i need and would literally be flipping 2mr from my current arms to the 15 damage eater

How did you crafted that gloves? (what runic and options).
How many charges does it (at average) take to craft

I burned over 40 runic sewing kits, on one of the higher reforge options, and actually, I have alot of pieces with like, 15 energy eater, but that is the only one with 15 "all damage" eater.

Which begs the question, does the bestial rage reduce the amount of hp you gain back from the eater?

Dmg eater is capped at 18, individual ones are 30.


Has anyone figured out if my original question is worth it?

I replaced a pair of sleeves on a suit with a mana regen 3, eater 10 and other mods but I have yet to see it click in so I don't know. The regen is sweet though so that is a bonus I guess.

Just an fyi too while on the reforge subject. i reforged a pair of gloves with 26 fire resist, so enhance to 29. kinda killer but is like 150 intensity or something.

im doing a suit with damage eater. Its a superb mod for a sampire or a warrior, cause it heals you for some % of the damage you receive. It doesnt weight a lot, and the 18 damage eater cap can get easily with only 2 pieces, in fact we will have 24 XD.

Also is interesting the kinetic eater, that have 30% cap, that we will get with 2 pieces of 12 and the ranger cloak. But you need to swap pieces, cause you will use 1 eater property, always the biggest one.

And its REALLY easy to have the eater mod on a piece, the only thing, dont use leather (thats a hint ....)
